When I was a kid there was an airshow at Davis Monthan Air Base(mid 1990's). My step dad was a Master Sergeant there. He took my family through one of the hangers that was housing an F-117 for the show. This was before it was rolled out for display. It had several armed guards around it. As we walked past it I reached up and grabbed the wing tip and gave it a squeeze and flex hoping no one would care or notice. I still remember what it felt like and that none of the guards hassled me. Such a cool moment Ill never forget.
absolutely fantastic footage, great seeing the Knighthawk is still operational,i first saw one flying at Raf Mildenhall Airshow in 1992,an amazing Skunk Works masterpiece
so glad to see this is a year old video and the leaves are still green, going to be in Duluth next week, would of kicked myself if i had missed the nighthawks by a few days, will be dropping in to the airport in hopes of catching the bulldogs
The Saudi's during desert storm referred to the Nighthawk as "Shaba" which means Ghost..now I know why!Awesome video my friend!!That is a once in a lifetime opportunity to see the GREAT F-117 NIGHTHAWK...in my book the greatest stealth bomber EVER due to its combat experience! Thanks for posting!
weird that its already been 30+ years since these were blowing buildings up in iraq, also weird that seeing them out and around is nostalgic, not unlike watching a ww2 P-51. the technology and oddness of the design places them squarely in the 80’s-90’s… very much dated compared to aircraft platforms like the f-15/f-18 and others that somehow don’t seem so dated even though they are the same age or older.
You can tell the 117s are no longer active because of their aged paint jobs. They always maintained the black paint because the type of paint itself helped some in radar absorption.
Actually, there's a few tricks to figure out which airframes are. These particular two are 84-0811 (red tail flash) and 84-0809 (blue tail flash) respectively. Thanks for watching!
Interesting, they supposedly deactivated the F0117 then they show up doing 'training ' with guard unit F16s, fighters training with stealth bombers, We know their radar never has been able to see the 117 so what exactly are they doing. interesting unless they are practicing being top cover for them, notice they 16s all have long range tanks.
I wonder if those are the 2 F-117s still flying the current stealth aircraft the B-2 sprit is still gonna fly much longer it’s sopost to be retired buy 2040
