Thanks for a great tutorial. Just to add, for F-14 LGBs, you don't take any line-up and release cues from the HUD but from the LANTIRN/Jester because the HUD and LANTIRN work independently of each other unlike in newer aircraft such as the F-18. Hence, you have to use bombing modes CMP/PLT (CCIP) or MAN (Manual) which let you drop the bomb anytime you pickle. The LGBs won't drop if you use CMP/PLT (CCRP) or CMP/IP as those require designating a ground target from the HUD using the diamond from the bomb fall line which is a bombing procedure that is totally independent of the LANTIRN.
Good vid Cap! BTW, initial testing of the flight model for the F-14B at sea level up to 450 knots show it's now within 1-2% of the published performance chart, as far as sustained turn rates are in question, so you may at your discretion reevaluate the turn capability! :D
I think QDES is for when you fly over your target (outside the slew limits) and then come round for another pass. I want to say QDES will slew back to what you were looking at before.
11:39 you might want to manually designate map objects or after you manually slew to a target. your qdes didn't work because you restarted the mission in between. Or at least i never had any problems with it
I tried this a fee times and struggled with it a bit. Does this work on MP? Is 1588 default bomb code and you have to change laser to that, or is it 1688 default?
So for the moment jester works 100% (Q modes and search for targets) in singleplayer and only partly (with head control options) in multiplayer, or am i doing something wrrong ?
In normal operations, you're usually informed of things such as JTAC laze codes in the briefing for your mission. Plus in game I believe changing your code in flight works but I might be wrong.
You can change the code in flight with the Jester menu. However, the LANTIRN pod doesn’t have laser search spot so you cannot hook up to a JTAC or wingman laser. You can get the coordinates, have the target smoked or use a predetermined waypoint to move the LANTIRN to that point.
Excuse me what Release Mode are you using? I tested it with all modes and only Manual Modes let me pickle the bomb when the dropping queue reached the bottom mark. With other modes the Tpod would react as I released the bomb but the bomb was still attached to the rack and nothing was released
@@grimreapers Jester system, at least in MP is still buggy, and if you carry both gbu and MK, and you try to switch back to CMP PLT and the TCS, you can't go back to using the tpod and the ccip is not working anymore either
For some reason my Lantirn pod is not getting activated after following the instructions. I set the mode to A/G, switch to TV and wait 9 minutes, but the Lantirn only shows the two vertical bars and there is some video feedback like the lens is pointing to the back of the aircraft, but no numbers or data coming on the screen. I also don't have the ground menu as shown here. The only Jester contextual menu I see is the air to ground weapons configuration. I'm in a multiplayer server, meaning that I don't have acces to the RIO, but it's my understanding that you don't need to switch to the RIO to get this working. I've been watching several videos and it seems I'm the only one with this issue. Any help would be appreciated.
I discovered this by accident. If you go to the ground weapons menu on the Jester wheel menu, there is a striped option (on position 8) that if you select it, a new menu will appear where you can actually switch the TV feedback between the Lantirn and the TCS (TV camera set), and that's the feedback I'm getting when I talked about the two horizontal bars showing something. I then selected Lantirn as my source and the TV screen goes completely black, like if the Lantirn camera is still stowed.
Well, it seems this video was applied only to the beta version. Now that this version is live, the pod works exactly as Grim described it. Thanks for the tutorial!!!!
so u changed the laser code so why i need to change it ? and how can i know the right numbers .. it was 1688 u changed it to 1588 .. so depending o n what u changed to 1588 ?
You don't have to change the code... just depends on the mission. if you're flying with someone else then it's a good idea to change so you don't conflict with laser codes. to set Lantirn code you go shift+K to bring up kneeeboard as cap said partway through the video. Change the code on the bomb in jester menu.
