LOW ANGLE DROGUE DELIVERY (LADD) - A method of bombing that employs a timed release system based upon a ground reference point on a target. Could be used for runways and stuff like that I guess, not necessarily nukes.
I'm a big ol' CBU-97 fanboy so I have a compulsion to explain that it's submunitions aren't guided in any way. The bomb releases ten submunitions which in turn fire four sub-submunitions each like a skeet launcher. These skeet sub-submunitions use laser and IR to detect if they happen to be flying over something worth blowing up, and then fire an explosively formed penetrator (and a ring of shrapnel) as a sub-sub-submunition. It's very cool. I'm sure I've got something wrong but there's an official Textron documentary on it floating on RU-vid.
Hi, I really enjoy watching the video series of your channel. Really great work ! I was wondering how do you set the camera angle to see the behind at 11:21. Thanks a lot in advance.
The CBU-97 skeets of doom aren't guided, but sensor fuzed.. they're set to trigger if they detect a vehicle beneath them, or self destruct at 50 feet if they don't
Daniel Blea - huh, the wiki article mentions there is a guidance tail kit for the casing for wind correction, and the CBU-105; but as far as the skeet go, doesn’t specifically say they had much ‘guidance’ so much as spin stabilization.. the IR and laser sensors don’t steer the skeet, but they wobble through the air, scanning a circular area below them, and if they detect a target, they trigger the shaped charge, firing a copper self forging projectile downward.
@@stargazer79 correct.. The Skeets are not "steered" after release from one of the 10 sub-muniton containers. The IR and laser is more for guidance as to whether or not there is a Target below them or not. And by guidance I mean "go" or "no go" command for launching their itty-bitty projectiles.
these CBU´-97 are great ! today i delivered 6 of them with the laserpod from 10000ft with 100ft distance and these things destroyed all around and some T72. nice firework. MK82air i never get right to target....i like to fly them low level near ground and drop free without any input help.
For a ripple drop is the bomb pipper the centre of the ripple or the where the first bomb in the ripple will impact for both normal ccip and ccip post designate?
I´m guessing that when rippling, the impact footprint begins at the point where the pipper is when pressing the release button and continues from there?
Great vid as always. 2 question: why did you dropped the cbu when the pipper was PAST the target instead of It being just over it? Could you (or someone) explain what profiles in the settings are?
Good questions! First question: I believe that it is because of that you want the CBU to be over ethe target area when it opens and releases all the smaller bombs and because that in this case happens att 500feet you have to aim long to make them overfly at 500 feet (Again i don't know, but it's my theory). Second question: I believe that the profiles are just presets to help you easily switch between aming techniques (Cap shows this menu at 4:40) when you have a high workload, so you can change the profile settings by going into the menu that chooses the aiming techniques. Hope you found this advice helpful but I'm not 100% sure on the answers.
@@hannesjonasson3550 thanks a lot for the answers. It makes sense. You mean you want to drop a bit longer in order to compensate the height of submunitions release (where the bomb no longer goes forward). I tried the presets (profiles) in a mission and I confirm: they are just 2 different sets for a weapon to be used on different target/passages.
you really should keep your aircraft stable while bombs are releasing the first bomb run you were pulling up - the second one you were banking in a turn bad bad bad
Same problem and the separation altitude is 1500 I am trying this on April 22 so maybe now you can change this value and the bomb won't drop because I am dropping below 1500
Thanks a lot for a very good video . I would appriciate if you could direct me pls ...how to activate the mouse curser to activate the knobes or the switches buttons within the cockpit ...???? I did L Alt +c in order to " create" the curser But how to make it active upon the buttons ....???? pls ADVICE ...THANK YOU .
Sorry, but I gotta say it. The building textures are terrible in DCS. They don't fit into the landscape at all. Bad colour selection mainly, and way too flat/homogeneous. They look like untextured polygons from 1990s era graphics. Seems like something a modder could easily clean up though.
DF 001 try fixing every building in a dcs map lol. This game is a plane simulation game not a construction game. And if they detailed the structures it would cause lag also.
@Chocken Are you under the impression that every single building on the map has its own texture? Because they don't. There's a handful of building textures that get repeated on the map. And nobody said anything about making the textures more detailed, just adjusting the colours so the buildings fit with their surroundings better. That would cost the game ZERO extra processing power.
