It's beyond words to actually show you how much we appreciate your dedication to providing us with such high quality content, day after day. You accel as a teacher/commentator to those of us who knew basically nothing about dogfighting and what our little boy hearts crave. I grew up around plane model building and tv shows like "the Thunderbirds" and now we have you giving us the best of both worlds. A million thanks, GS. Some of us have a bit of a pyro and explosion soul. Haha !
I thought I wanted to play DCS after watching your excellent videos, I even purchased a HOTAS, but after 6 months of nil use I realised I just really like your videos and didn’t have a spare 200 hours to learn how to play 😂. Keep up the great work!
It definitely takes time, but what I can recommend you is to learn how to fly first with the free P-51 Trainer. That teaches you the very fundamentals of flying and is simple to get started since there is almost no tech (screens, radar, guided missiles, ...) involved. Then go to early jets like the F86F, which still aren't packed full of computers and only have rudimentary radar capabilities. Then you can go to the more modern jets and learn "the rest"™.
Usually you make it challenging by creating a match-up that has you as the under-dog, but I suppose with so many new members you gotta go back to basics and show them why there are not too many aircraft that survive a dogfight with the Viper. (...and you make it look SOOOO easy!😄)
I assure you it's not me making it look easy lol all credit goes to the viper, its doing all the work here. The thing is an absolute dogfighting animal.
Yes but he doesn't want to most of the time because a) he prefers to have videos focused on one perspective at a time, b) the other person doesn't necessarily have the other jet :(
I finally bit the bullet last week and grabbed the F-16 and FC3 with your code. The learning curve is steep, but I'm having a blast! Thanks for all you do bud, I've learned a ton watching these videos.
I have to say it's the Viggen, that is a real beauty whom was feared all over Europe. And it is also the only jet ever to achieve a radar lock on an SR-71 Blackbird (excluding the time where a blackbird had engine malfunction)
Well done. You have really good jink timing and bandit nose awareness. Sometimes Ive seen you be a little slow on the trigger for snap gunshots but you nailed it perfectly this time, and on the Su35 one where he crossed like 20ft in front of your nose! Thanks for the entertainment and congrats on the channel's success!
cant wait when typhoon dlc will be released… the real eurofighter flight model will shred any other aircraft to pieces in dogfight, like in reality which was proven in several dogfight excercises between the usa and germany, spain and uk, even f35 and f22 nearly never stood a chance… and if u dont believe it u can google it at least for the f22 cases ;) keep up the nice content bro :)
That Mauser cannon in the Gripen sounds so good! GS you should do DCS awards of the year with best sounding gun, best sounding Fox2, Fox 3 and best sounding engine.
I would never complain about combat damage if my pilot and a/c came back, even better if could paint kill on side, all would be forgiven. It's the extra maintenance the nuggets cause by being terrible pilots that I hate. Go Navy Maintenance!
The F-16 amazes me. Im 53 yrs old, the Viper first flew when i was in Kindergarten! Its still a top rank(yes i know its had many upgrades) fighter today! Simply amazing!
@@jamesrichardson8484 "Gripen first participated in Red Flag 2006 with the Gripen A,’ says Stefan Englund , former Swedish Air Force Flight Engineer on Quora. ‘It was assigned to the red team. Reduced AWACS, reduced ground support. The Gripens connected their link systems and acted themselves as AWACs, got the battlefield awareness necessary and avoided all ground defence, scored 10 kills the first day including a Typhoon. No losses they remained undetected. One Gripen pilot knocked down five F-16 block 50+ during close air combat in Red Flag Alaska. And the Gripens never lost any aerial encounter or failed their mission objectives. It was the only fighter that performed all planed starts, while others were sitting on the ground waiting for the weather to clear up. The evaluation was that Gripen capacity needed to be revaluated. ‘And no disrespect to any other fighters, including Norwegian pilots because they’re just as well trained, but during a combat exercise with the Royal Norwegain Air Force, 3 Swedish Gripens went up against 5 RNAF F-16’s. The Result was 5-0, 5-0, 5-1 after having flown 3 rounds."
Yet another reminder of just how much of a monster the Viper is. It's one of the most popular fighters in the world for a reason. Think you could do a few videos of the Viper doing ground attacks to show off that aspect of it? I remember that you've done some Wild Weasel sorties, but I'm thinking more generalized strike missions.
Well if you start getting frustrated and start to get discouraged...just remember this. You are better at it than i am. :) Good luck brother. Keep at it.
Love your videos as always man! ♥ I have a question though: if, because of some mistakes, I end up slow on the deck with the bandit on my 6 while in the viper, is it better to attempt to get the bandit to overshoot or try to reaquire as much speed as possible while jinking to get the upper hand in the rate fight?
well, you can't really regain speed while jinking, those maneuvers are so aggressive you're going to be losing a lot of speed trying to execute them, once the bandit has your six and is in your control zone...you're basically a dead man but the only thing left for you to do is get him away from that position, of course first JINK to defeat his gun shot then you need to start pulling hard building aspect bleeding speed and nose countering, if you do these things correctly.......you might get lucky and get an overshoot.
"I'll try going into the vertical as an experiment," and spent the rest of the fight defensive. Really goes to show how razor thin the margins are in a skilled dogfight.
Yo bro Really like these DCS videos man I hope it never ends, and in case you want some ideas for missions can you try: Anti Ship strike missions. Helicopter Duals. Taking off from carrier and doing land strike. X2 morons with helicopters providing ground support. Escorting and defending VIP. Stealth missions with only the latest gen fighters. Destroy entire enemy base by escorting large fleet. X2 morons taking out boat fleet. X2 morons last hope for friendly base. X2 morons to the rescue. X2 morons against all odds.
May be going to RIAT in the summer and there’s multiple grippens flying not to mention an me 262 flying also, will have to see if the grippen is as sexy as it lookes
You've already done a combat between the A-10 Warthog and the A-29 Supertucano, in the DCS, would it be interesting, despite the discrepancies in speed between the two aicraft, a jet could shoot down a turboprop or its speed would prevent it from hitting a slower target?
Give the people what they want and fight the Battle of the Canards: A battle royale featuring (at a minimum) the JAS39 Gripen, Dassault Rafale, Eurofighter Typhoon, and SU30SM Flanker-H. May the best 'nard win.
I would surmise, that You are at a handicap, what with the summation of the scenario at hand and flying, that the outcome would be slightly in favor of the opponent. So that Your abilities at the controls are not totally in your hands, Yes? With that said, You are doing n excellent job at both. Thank You for Your time, consideration and sharing these videos with Us here on the tube. Looking forward to any and all soon! Later
