Tyndall has been through a lot in the last little while, hope nothing happens.

Remember when we lost all those expensive B36's when a tornado hit Ft. Worth? So why do we let this happen to our F22 fleet at Tyndall?

The Raptors that were left behind were not flight worthy.

Sure is loud for being stealth. But I guess sound has nothing to do with stealth. What is the material the surface of these aircraft uses? Secret?

It’s a mixture of , , and ; all coated with . 😜 Seriously; though - stealth is generally achieved with computed shapes that reduce reflections back to enemy radar sites; and composite materials & coatings that absorb radar (google “EMI coatings” for more information). The exact materials used, are of course, classified (and I’m not an engineer on any fighter programs, so I’m only going off of publicly available information).

When an aircraft is flying at Mach 1 or Mach 2, it has come and gone before you hear it. But these are fighters, not attack aircraft, so you won’t hear it over your own aircraft. And you won’t know that it is there because your radar won’t pick it up. You will only know that it is there when you have to eject.

They need to paint those planes. Kind of embarrassing to be flying with just primer coat on.

I know I’m six months late, but if they were painted then they would have a larger radar signature. They don’t even have primer on, but they do have some sort of radar-absorbing material on sharper edges in order to have a lower radar cross-section 😁
