The video shows Northrop Grumman's AN/AAQ-37 Distributed Aperture System (DAS) and AN/APG-81 F-35 radar as they detect, track and target multiple rocket launches during NASA's ATREX event at Wallops Island. The yellow box shows the radar as it tracks the missile and the magenta circle shows the tracking of the missile using the DAS.

well done, love how the system identifies tracks and mitigates the expended rocket boosters. keeping eyes on the prize

"The video shows Northrop Grumman's AN/AAQ-37 Distributed Aperture System (DAS) and AN/APG-81 F-35 radar as they detect, track and target multiple rocket launches during NASA's ATREX event at Wallops Island." not only detects and track also targets.

It's digitally processed after the image is received by the night vision cameras. It also combines SAR radar imaging with the EODAS imaging to come up with the most accurate picture.

How you know its 600 KM..jst asking any source??
@thetopsecretpentagonsclass6350
@@terribletrinity m very sorry for my misinformation. The distance was 1200km because the testbed BAC-1-11 equipped with APG-81 & DAS sensor take off from Thurgood Marshall Airport, Baltimore. After reaching parallel distance in atlanic, that testbed detected 5 Falcon 9(2 staged rockets) launched from NG facility in Cape canaveral. Distance from Baltimore & Cape Canaveral is about 780 miles. In its description NG stated that it can detect & track hight IR ballastic missile from 1300km. I think 600km range was for fighter aircrafts, you can study about it, just search for F-35 DAS test cape canaveral.

@@thetopsecretpentagonsclass6350this test was recorded from a Northrop Grumman facility watching a launch from Wallop Island, Virginia on March 27, 2012. So how was this 1,300 kilometers or 800 miles away??? Genuinely asking.

Very interesting! Is this already incorporated in the F-35 sensor kit? And will the F-35 posess the ability to intercept launched ballistic missiles at these ranges?

@gtamodman122 Yes the f-35 picked them up on radar so in theory it could shoot an aim-120 and if the f-35 was a little closer iin theory you could shoot it with an aim-9

I hope they find a way to install this into the F-22 airframe! So unfair that it's younger bro the F-35 gets better systems radar than the F-22.

@777Outrigger
@777Outrigger 6 лет назад
Soon to be 6 internally. And the F-35 never operates alone, but will usually operate in packs of 4 aircraft. That's at least 24 air to air missiles. And the F-35 will be able to fire missiles from US destroyers at targets the destroyers can't see because of the horizon.

In Sqaudrons...its more than 1 f-35.. which = more weapons, better tracking and targeting which means this scenario isnt difficult to negate.

gtamodman122 so far no! F35 payload is too small and too dangerous to work on it. The solution might be cooperating with payload air-tanks such as F-15/F18 with long distance ABM! Or US can sell SM3 to us - Taiwan ^ ^ We are welcome F35B and shutdown any ballistic missiles from China

This is really cool. Inexpensive drones could patrol the skies and relay the position of the source of attacks to other integrated systems. So, any chinese AA battery, or submarine that launches a rocket will be immediately destroyed.

And one nice thing more, The F-35 just guide other missile systems to bring them down, even systems that dont se over the horizon, just tell them go get that bird, i guide you.

Geir it is real images. Light intensity is function of distance as I= k / r^2 , so if distance is too long delta-I will approach to zero. The target is 300 miles away sensors than the delta-I is 1/ (300*1.61*1000/10)^2=4.23e-10 here is compare to a commercial FLIR sensor (detection range 10 meters) So the FLIR sensor 「Sensitivity」is magical performance.
