Big thank you to supreme for helping with this video and thank you to all of you for watching.

Request- F-4U Corsair VS MIG-15 PLEASE😁✌ During the Korean War U.S. Prop Planes shot down MIG's on a couple occasions-- The Hawker Sea Fury shot down a MIG-15 and The AU4 Corsair also shot down a MIG-15! Vietnam-- A-1 Skyraider shoots down MIG-17 I believe on two separate occasions!!

Is it just me or is the MiG-19 just such a cool looking jet?! I also think the F-5 looks pretty mean. Not the perfectly proportioned classic awesomeness of the F-15 or the wasp like sexiness (thats a wierd sentence, I admit) of the Flankers, but still a mean looking jet. Much better than the similar T-38.

Interesting to me that with the more advanced 5th gen. fighters, dogfights seem to happen at much closer distances. The 5th gen. tend to have much tighter turning, and of course you want to stay close to the bogie to jam the WEZ. So you ironically have these modern jets with > 1/1 thrust/weight, in a furball at WWII distances and speeds. Earlier jets have wider turns, so after the merge the fight is at a greater distance. (Also a function of deliberately choosing 2 circle). Wide, loopy turns at faster speeds.

Part of the reason for this is because the swept wing design was critical for gaining supersonic speeds at the time and aircraft design was heavily affected by this. Obviously, because of this, dogfighting tactics were developed to take advantage of this speed and climb advantage dating all the way back to the very first fighter developed in WW2. Turning rate was less important when you were several hundred knots faster than your opposition. As the opposition began to catch up, now you're basically back to square one with redeveloping tactics that more closely resembled the fight before you had the significant speed advantage.

My former boss flew F-4s in Vietnam. He wasn’t afraid of MiG-17s or MiG-21s (in most cases) but he HATED MiG-19s. Said they were very capable dog fighters.

I'm way thrilled to see the MiG-19 come out to play GS!!!!! I sure hope that you bring it back out to take on some other planes! I'm told it accelerates like a bat out of hell. I am very curious to know how it would hold up against other jets like the F-4 or Mirage. Probably not too well, but hopefully you find a really good MiG driver to take on since you seem to be pretty dang good in a Mirage.

red Mig 19 looks very hot. I have seen a Black and red JF17 flown by someone not as experienced as you. If you can by chance get a hold on to the Black & RED Jeff, that would sweeten the screen much more. All the best

When I see the MiG-19 it reminds of show that used be on the Military or Discovery Channel about air combat. I think it was called "Air Aces". But anyhow, there was an episode about when a MiG-19 encounter a pair of A-1Ds coming back from a CAS SAR mission. The A-1Ds shot it down. Maybe you could recreate that. Just an idea.

With superior missiles, avionics, and better maneuverability in all aspects aside from a slightly lower maximum turn rate... Not even close. Playing a video game and dogfighting likes it's 1942 is not a good way to determine air worthiness lol.

Farmer is a monster in one circle. Use those flaps to advantage. It can beat even an F-16 in scissors (off course only in horizontal).

Imo those 30mm should have absolutely torn the f5 to shreds in the 1st round. One hits in the intake and the fragments would definitely get sucked into the engine, and one hit is square on the cockpit. Weird damage model interaction imo.

Sorry, I new to DCS. Hope this isn't a dumb question. When you engage with guns only fighters, are part of the rules of engagement, that you can not extend out then recommit? It seemed like when you were in the rolling scissors, there were opportunities for the F-5 (or you for that mater) to reverse the turn and extend out, then turn and reengage, either to break the stalemate or to try for a head on shot. That seemed like it would be a better idea for the F-5, rather than let you drag him down to the deck. In other simulators, the differences in power, or speed/acceleration (at a given altitude) might better balance a fighter that out rates you.

Yes if there are fox2s involved extending Is allowed but will usually result in death due to the fox2 in the interest of not making a 45min video extending away is kept to a minimum but in real life u obvs would do it. I just don’t think people want to watch 2 guys fly straight for extended periods of time during a Video only to reset the fight and start all over again lol. That being said, it does happen from time to time

The radar gun sight is intended for poor weather conditions its really not that good for shooting small nimble manoeuvring fighter size targets.

Back in the mid 70ies Vietnam provided USSR with a F-5 Tiger for evaluation. Turned out that it outperformed Mig-21 and even Mig-23 in dogfights with an ease....

He can rate fight we’re so close that it comes down to the narrow margins of pilot skill, but generally the f5 should use the 1 circle regime it’s much more dominant in that kind of fight.

Gonna agree mostly with GS here, however early game strategy in f-5 for a pilot you need to test the skill of is to flat turn/ 2 circle at alt, of he maintains the circle for more than 1 turn transition the fight to 1 circle. Smoke him asap because as in the vid he'll just leech your alt and speed to the deck and then 'You're out of altitude airspeed and ideas.' P.S. if you are very efficient in the f-5 it has much better top speed and could just extend to reset the fight but that's not exactly in the spirit if these fights.

It didn't even look like the F-5 pilot was trying.... Didn't use enough afterburner in my opinion to keep his energy up. I wouldn't even let go of the burner.

@@michaelstodovski2219 we only saw 2 fights and yes I too feel he could have done better but i wasn't there. By all appearances the lower speed and lack of burner in the 5 could be strategy to keep speed low and use high alpha and smallest turn circle. Imo the 5 is a wonderful jet but criminy is hard to master.
