Same czech bro, I hate how oblivious some of the players are to him. I mean I know he knows the good spots. But I feel like everybody spots me by checking every corner and most of the time it's just a matter of who shoots first/more precisely. Meanwhile he has 3+ tanks driving right past him and letting him have them for breakfast.

The ROF in game for the M24 is wrong IIRC it should be ~750 RPM from the info I can find so the combined ROF of 3000 for all 6 and with a projectile mass of 130g for the AP-T round so if it could fire for a full minute it could unload 390kg if projectiles into a target. The Gau -8 uses a mix of one part HEI rounds at 378 grams each and four parts AP-I at 395g each, a full minute of fire would see 1527kg of projectiles go down range which is fucking insane!

I worked these planes in the 80s. 1984-1988. Some of them were actually kind of new back then. I have plenty of not so fond memories of removing and installing the GAU 8 .I simply don't recall us lowering the high to 3,900 rpm. Maybe they did it in shop. I don't recall doing it on the flight line. Not that it really mattered. May be they lowered it after I left. I was taught high rate was 4,200 and low was 2,100. I still have my Tech school paper work. There is a rounds limiter that is set to limit the number of rounds the gun can fire per trigger depression. That is what controls barrel wear. More than that it controls Recoil. Planes need to move forward through the air so their wings to create lift. Barrels were one of the easier things to replace. They were replaced on a regularly based on the amount of ammo through the system as I recall. Its been a long time. Fun fact if all the ammo is removed from the gun system including spent brass (All spent brass is retained in the system) You have to install ballast plates in the nose to make up for the missing weight or the plane will be tail heavy. We also did the TCTO to make the planes AIM9 capable. Before I worked on a Maint. Crew I worked on a load crew. As for the ammo. Combat mix was 1 API (Black with red) followed by 5 HEI(Yellow with red). I suppose that could easily change, But all that I was ever witness to there was always more Yellow rounds than Black going through the Dragon from the Cans.
