That felt realistic. Bro, I was actually invested when you had to ID the Emirati Mirages--I was saying in my head, "Let this end peacefully." 😁 Not exactly what you want in a Combat Simulator, but it felt like I was watching an actual situation in the Gulf. I also appreciate you talking through it as if you were actually there (e.g. hypothesizing why Iran is scrambling F14s). Props to everyone involved in the campaign. Stellar stuff.

Really interesting to see a scenario that focuses more on what actual flight operations look like. I learn so much from your videos, and I’m looking forward to watching more of this campaign. Just one request: Can you please explain a little more all the radio calls that are coming in? It would be a great learning experience to understand how aircraft are coordinated in the air and see how these radio calls affect your SA. Keep up the great work!

You're right about this being very realistic. Both in terms of the situations and the actors. Either in the East China Sea and Sea of Japan with NK and in the area between Masirah and the Gulf of Oman with the Iranians they'd make aggressive moves toward the BG and sometimes act like they're bugging out but then turn back in a couple of times before actually bugging out. They'd never try to cross closer than 250-300nm to the CV as they'd end up lit up by the AAW picket ship(s) (Aegis) long before then. This CAP intercept is very realistic including eventually locking them up as their last warning before it might go weapons free. We never had a red-and-free incident in the 88-91 time frame but I was there had many run ins similar to this mission.

I knew Raven 1-1 sounded familiar - this is the same campaign Ralfidude showed off recently! Such commendable attention to detail by BD - the mission absolutely reeks of authenticity in all the best ways! I heard you mention this is one of the best ways to learn your aircraft. I'm just learning the Hornet currently. Do you still recommend something like this for a newbie? Hey man if ur willing to redo missions many times over then yes it will be a grind but once you understand how to do everything and you finish the campaign you will truly have a comprehensive understanding of the hornet and it’s capabilities.

I just picked up the Raven 1 campaign. The mission programming is amazing. Honestly, I copied and pasted the first mission into the My Mission folder so I can do the mission whenever I want. It's a great end-to-end BFM mission. It has everything. cold-start carrier takeoff, formation flying, BFM, some random non-hostile encounters, and a CASE 1 carrier landing. No way I could orchestrate all that in the Mission Editor. Listening to Raven 1 on Audible as well. Pretty good so far.

You know what would be cool? If a campagin used more than one plane. Like, you fly most of it in the F-18, and then one mission is for example the SU-25 (since everyone can play it i guess), and its a sneaky mission where you set the transponder and go undercover into enemy territory.

Seems like an excellent campaign even though it suffers from couple of bugs and DCS limitations. Prince Charming mission was a real nailbiter. Can't remember the last time I was this nervous when trying refuel while running on fumes. Just got to this mission GS is flying in the video.

I'll buy it on the day it is released. I've learnt the A10C with the Enemy within Capmaign from Baltic. It is a masterpiece. But I think with Raven 1 he will raise the bar again by few inches.

Can you carry the BRU-41 in the F/A-18C in DCS, I thought not? Or was that somehow edited in from the Mission editor? Because as far I knew they're in the lua files, but commented out?

You can mount six BDU-33s and they come on a BRU-41.

Why not use TWS to "lock" them up? Then in combination with a TPOD you can visually identify them from 45 miles away!

pretty sure thats realistic and they wanted brits doing comms on the UAR mirages, he has access to all sorts of guys with all sorts of accents this was be design, I believe.
