another Alternative is to play the B string with first finger, E String with the 2nd finger, stretch to G string with RIng fin ger and the D string with the little finger. This gets the tips of all fingers in position behind the frets to give a clean sound rather than the muffled sound I get by BArre all strings on first fret

If you know your chord shapes for standard GCEA tuning, here's a trick to know every chord on the baritone. Because the baritone is tuned 5 half steps lower in pitch than standard ukuleles, the Circle of Fifths will tell you how to form baritone chords. Find the baritone chord name on the Circle of Fifths. Look at the name to the left (counter-clockwise). That's the chord shape name to use from your knowledge of GCEA chords. Example. The immediate left neighbor of F on the Circle is Bb. So, to play an F chord on baritone, make the shape you would use for a Bb chord on the standard uke. That's what is demonstrated in the video. More examples: To play baritone C, make the standard F shape. To make baritone D chord, make the standard G shape. The chords on the Circle of Fifths, reading from Bb clockwise are Bb F C G D A E B and so on. This works for the minor chords too. Great tutorial! I'm trying to find the best way to play an F minor on the baritone uke DGBE. Is it better to play this chord closer to the fretboard or not? It's a super awkward chord to play, and I know practice is key, but I thought I'd reach out for some help! Thank you in advance and love the channel.

Just saying. have difficulty with having enough strength in my index finger to barre the B and E strings ---- so I have to barre all strings on the first fret to be able to get my middle and ring finger to reach the D and G strings without fret buzz. Of course this makes it harder to switch to C7 chord but then string playing is all about dexterity of fingers and developing power in our fingers, wrist and forearm especially on the ukulele where the strings are further apart than the guitar. On the up side fingers are in position to slide up to plat other barre chords such as Bb in 2nd position etc.

I remember learning the f chord on a guitar with really high action and thinking how appropriately named it was.. same thing happened when I learned it as a barre!! 🤬
