This was very intense indept interview from a brother who been to hell and back. I'm from Long Island NY and my younger brother did alot time in prison back in the late 80s and the 90 s and he actually did 2 years on Rikers Island. My brother was a five percenter and a wild boy. I remember I was worried abt him being locked up with all these cats from the 5 Boros but when I went to visit him he said half the dudes he was locked up with he had bumped into them years ago in juvenile hall and up j north. He said Wes jail is jail and if you know how to bid real will recognize real no matter where you from. He said I met live cats and suckers from every boro in NY and every part of Upstate NY and from every part of Long Island. My brother came out on visiting room and said Strong Island in the house. He then was pacing all his comrades in the visting room. My Lil Bro was a wild boy and was never the same person after his many years of incarceration He was a Long Island cat that was well respected when he was up north. But prison destroyed his life and has destroyed many other Black men's lives which we know is by design. May God continue to hsve his hands on Soul B life and my brother and countless others that have been through this storm which is prison. I grew up a small suburban hood in Long Island during the vicious crack era and most of the cats from my hood were in and out prison including my younger brother Great Mind Allah. But hearing Soul B talk it brings me back to when my younger brother did time on Rikers and me thinking Lil bro is in some shit now. But I didn't realize his many years of bidding had Harding him to the point where he was comfortable in a hostile environment which is why it is design for us to fail.

I'm 42 from the Bx, I grew up getting in to trouble, breaking in to cars, shoplifting, fighting.... my uncle's use to robb and steal like crazy, cause they started getting high in the early 80's .... crack was still new to the scene when, I was a kid, so I couldn't fully understand the effects of it.... I knew it had my uncle's acting different and stealing from my grandmother and me..... my first raid I went through, I was 12 cutting school, my uncle ended up doing 12 then got deported..... my other uncle I ended up selling drugs to when, I was older..... I went to juvie at 16 for having a gun in Florida, I was living with my mom, she found my gun turned it in, sent me to juvie to teach me a lesson, it worked.... not cause I was scared or had problems, cause it made me respect my freedom, and not to be running around with a gun allday for no reason....... I've been arrested over 20 times since then but young dumb shit I've never had to sit up for...... I was on the island in 99 for 2 weeks first time there, crossing the bridge, Inspecta Dek verse was in my head, back of a bus 40 us life as shorty shouldn't be so rough I get to C76 12 lower always heard about the phone situation, I get to my dorm, first thing I do, is say who got the phones lol cause it's what I was supposed to do wasn't nobody even running the phones lol...... certain things in life makes you stronger.... I've paid some major dues, I'm blessed for not having to sit up.... It was my duty not to go to prison..... you're no good to anyone in prison, your girl your kids, mom...... nothing kool about doing any type of time.... it's not like you volunteered, like you're in listing in the army.... glorify the guy takes care of his family and grinds hard and stay free
