I admire mark's honesty. He seems like the kind of guy that will be your best friend forever but will still call you out on your shit instead of acting like it never happened
Blink ran its course. It was every 15 year old middle American kids favorite band. But they Peaked and they were gonna be stuck singling the same 8 songs for eternity.
I loved it, it seemed like he felt soo guilty a few times but also so unserious. I defs have said f Tom Delonge to my friends privately at one point (like once with a few ppl) in life 🥺😳🥲🥹 I love him and mark so much ❤️🔥
Mark didn’t shame him publicly on the Box Car Racer thing, nor then in the Angels & Airwaves and +44 thing, then they got together and he pulls the same thing, I don’t blame Mark one bit. Tom is cool but he can be a bit overly selfish/self-involved and just plain loony sometimes. He’s an opioid addict though so I can understand, though that doesn’t explain the crazy conspiracies thing, plus he was into shit like that long before opioids lol. I mean, it’s a fun quirk of his personality and he mostly manifests it in a mostly not too malignant way, in fact it’s often in a more kind of interesting way that could be useful to reaching conspiracy loons or at least guiding them to a less toxic way of being lol, so whatever lol, but the pulling this shit on Mark for like a 3rd or 4th time was kinda fucked lol but again, it’s probably because of his opioid addiction since it make you feel a bit disconnected from normal social psychological impulses mostly unwittingly and even kind of unintentionally, but at a certain point it’s time to call him on it and that’s what Mark did so it’s very fair, plus Tom realizes this as you can see here so he knows what he did wasn’t cool and accepts it so that’s good. It took Mark getting cancer to bring them back together, just like it took Travis’s near death plane crash to bring them back together before. I guess it’s Tom’s turn next, he might OD and maybe barely survive next lol.
@@placebojesus5652except I wouldn't say it's about opioid addiction at all. Now I don't agree. It's a wall of text, didn't and prob won't read all of it. Opioids don't actually numb or make a person evil, wrong at all
@@placebojesus5652what's funny is how many of those "right wing" conspiracies turned out to be true and keep on unveiling themselves. I think once you look into just what's been declassified from the CIA it gives a whole new perspective on just what our "elected" officials agree capable of. Not to mention the deep state they keep dying didn't exist😂.
@@guillermo3947 Because he didn't like being in Blink-182 anymore at that time? You do realize people grow and change right? Tom is the biggest factor of Blink-182's long success they have anyway.
Your comment was just as pointless. All comments are. Truth is, your opinion holds no merit & nobody actually cares what anyone else thinks. You're better just thinking these things & moving on. Welcome to the Internet, child.
TF you mean "couldn't say in therapy"? You ever been to therapy? Saying shit in a safe space that you can't say otherwise is literally the whole point of therapy lol.
@@Skaftholu Imagine paying someone to be your friend so you can tell them your hidden feelings, imagine needing a safe space, and imagine not just saying these things to the people's faces. Spending money and creating jobs that don't need to exist so scummy people in a scummy industry make more money than they deserve for just giving advice on how to be the most self-centered you can be. That's therapy, and surely it's a great thing right?
@@georgehudson1353 wow it's like you don't have any rebuttal because you know I'm right, so you make assumptions in the form of personal attacks. I'm the one who "needs" therapy? Funny
@@jordanhester4821 if you class a suggestion as a personal attack then that's a you issue, flower. Therapy is a world proven science of the mind, nay-saying is a world proven science of being an stubborn, ignorant arsehole. Now that's a personal attack 👍
Tom looks so uncomfortable here. I feel bad because the whole thing was likely over private matters he doesn't want to discuss publicly, so he can't even give the fans a justification. He just has to eat shit and smile.
@@Atomic_Johnnyi'm 100% sure it was for musical matters, he wanted to grow musically and then he started to see Blink as a barrier, so he just felt like he needed to get out to do his "own shit" alone with other people lol
Tom hated touring. Then, he developed severe back pain on top of that. Then, the medication apparently had the side-effect of arrogance, according to himself. Then, he thought AVA was better than Blink and could change the world.
@@federiconicolaslema6334 In Tom's words. Most likely he meant »psychological arousal« or lack thereof. All meds have side effects. And, some can even affect your brain and thereby your mood and personality.
Blink is 3 immature brothers that love each other a lot but there's so much insecurity. It's a weird thing when a bandmate wants to do "other" stuff. It can feel like cheating almost
Isn't Mark the only one that has been in Blink the entire time? Lol. I feel that gives him the most credibility in him being Blink-182. He's earned that by never abandoning ship.
It wasn’t all Tom though. Tom wanted to expand musically and Blink just wasn’t doing it for him. Honestly, that little departure to Angels and Airwaves was nice.
@@andrewhh007Agree wholeheartedly. When those 3 hit the stage it is musical magic. I wish they would still use Skiba sometimes though, he was a phenomenal addition. Also miss Reynor’s drums.
@@WeWillAlwaysHaveVALISThey made different and good songs. It’s pretty impressive how they were both able to make side ventures and make it sound different than Blink. It’s impressive.
Travis literally talked so much shit about Tom in 2015 when he left the band again and even questioned if he even liked Punk music. He called him a poser publicly.
He also did amazing stuff as side projects, most important one Box Car Racer, which changed the musical direction for all others involved from there on. And of course Angels & Airwaves. Like it or not, he did his thing and many people hailed it for what it was. You can't say piss and shit for 30 years without getting sick of it and it's sad if people don't offer you that opportunity after so many years together.
@@SimonRobeyns But Blink had serious songs too. Honestly, there are enough “serious” bands anyways. A band that writes some comedic songs on each album is way too rare. Making people smile and laugh can be just as important as making them feel the feels or open their mind up. Don’t dismiss “saying shit and piss for 30 years.”
@@thelittlestgiant sure, but if you aren't feeling that comedy anymore then are you just supposed to fake it, fuck being who you wanna be and what you wanna do, you will make piss and shit jokes for others entertainment because there are enough other people writing songs about what they really want to write about.
the way mark say a lot of things about tom without a doubt is a sign that the band is coming back again 100%, tom also hear that with an open heart and mind like an old brothers.. im sorry for my bad english.
You have a very good English and yeah, it looks like they have matured and have their own visions in putting a lot more of effort and time in their music career now
They did talk a little trash about Tom during the +44 days. There’s an interview we’re Mark said Tom wasn’t a man for not calling, and let’s not for get the song No it isn’t. But anyway love this band and so happy they are back!
so grateful, loving and appreciating mark so much, always feel excited when I see comments expressing love for Mark ❤️🔥 I wish I showed my support online back in the day, Mark is always so kind, sweet, relatable in some ways, talented and just … cool 🥹
The good thing about this is that they were able to grow up and have an adult conversation about uncomfortable issues from the past and rebuild their friendship and their band after all was said and done. That shows incredible maturity, especially on the part of Tom, arguably the most immature 😉 member of the band! ❤ Tom is a very kind person who I’ve met on a few different occasions over the years and obviously he just needed to go his own way for a bit so he could circle back around to his brothers after having some time for his own ventures. This whole interview is refreshingly candid and honest.
That interview was great. So much of people being people and their journey along the way. They are quality guys and I'm glad they worked it all out in the end.
This is how bands are supposed to be. It's normal having problems but when they have the maturity to put these things behind and start again, that's when you realize a band is serious.
is understandable what Tom did, he felt poisoned back then (even called the band "toxic") he was in pain and sick and needed time for himself and his family.. I praise Mark for not taking the drama out to the media, and not talking shit about their old friend.. they start a new band instead (+44) golden virtue 👍
Our world resonates harmoniously with music 🎵 Bc it’s a human thing! 😂 2024 in a free falling an Mr. Petty is the rock show for the ages! Everyone staring down n no blinks, dead pan eyes! DAMMIT, STAY TOGETHER FOR THE KIDS!♾️🌈⚔️🤑✌️🤣
i really recommend watching the whole interview. as a long time fan, it was just so beautiful see the three of them share what they were going through at the time from their own perspective, acknowledging each other’s experiences and growth then moving forward with renewed passion to make music.
*The truth is, Mark was against what Blink stood for because he felt they were too old to be singing about high school problems, dating girls, their genitals, aliens, etc. Tom still thought that stuff was funny, and Mark refused to budge. He wanted to mature the band.* *Obviously, it's exactly what ended up happening.*
But it's sort of seems to be the opposite. Tom left and started to do more experimental music and Mark wanted to just keep doing the more simple s***. Tom was kind of quirky about it Don't get me wrong but he was trying to break out and experiment and do different s***. Hell that's what boxcar racer was and Angels & airwaves and so on. Mark seems like a more reliable dude and everything but he seems less prone to experimentation.
@@michaelcorcoran8768 Simple stuff? Plus 44 was way more mature and the song writing for that band was top notch. I don't know what you're talking about.
They all went on and did more "mature" music. It just all comes down to ego and the difficult process of collaboration. Being in a band is hard, especially when you got multiple singers and lyricists. So many ideas from all parties, with each having their own respective personalities, and you all have to agree on what you want a song to be about and how you want that message to be delivered. And instead of adding to eachother and positively collaborating, it becomes compromise and settling so everyone remains content.
So in reality they Hate each other ......but since Travis almost died in plane and Mark beat the shit of cancer .....Tom knows he's an ass but ppl we change wr all go through our fuck moments
You gotta know that, as true friends, they’ve hashed this out personally. They’ve discussed in depth each others point of view and they’ve moved forward as a band and as close friends. So nothing that Mark is saying is something he hasn’t said to Tom’s face. And the truth may hurt but a true friend will always keep it real with you.
No, he doesn't. This was an hour+ long interview where the entire point was for the interviewer to ask all kinds of fan-related questions & to hear from ALL 3 guys (hence why Tom is there). You are watching it via YT shorts, so obviously you miss all the context this way.
A band is like a relationship. And one that you might have started way young. And a relationship can be very complicated. A true it's not you it's me type thing happens. You have your own personal relationship with music. So I don't judge any band with issues like this.
OHHHHH YEAH, I remember those articles coming out with Mark and Travis “exposing” Tom. Travis calling him a punk poser and saying Tom only came back to blink for the money. And Tom posting like crazy on instagram saying he never left. 🤣 good times.
Blink opened up for us (7Seconds), at three shows back in 88’. They were just kids. Our guitarist, Chris Carnaham, was obsessed with them. Great times.
Dude we(Nonsense) opened for them all the time in early 90’s Mark always bought merch & the original drummer would hang out and tell jokes. Nofx for the win.
It should be addressed to the public with Tom around. So he feels the fire. But I fucked with Toms UFO/Paranormal stuff I found out about him when I spent time researching the Paranormal and he was connected to people I was getting info and notes from. Felt like a small world at that moment.
I mean between Neighborhoods and One More Time, it's safe to say Tom knows he fucked up. Those two albums are the best music they've ever made, and their next album will be even better
The thing that kinda pissed me off about this interview is that they made Tom out as this guy who left blink and totally didn’t do much good after. When in reality the only thing that has ever been the best thing about Blink 182 is Tom Delonge. And when he left he made fucking insanely great music with Angels And Airwaves, way better music than Blink did when Tom wasn’t in it. Tom is Blink 182 and without Tom the band is shit. That’s the truth
to be fair... i went and seen them with the Matt guy as lead singer... man they sucked... i literally walked out of the show.. they didnt sound like blink no more... so i say to you Mark " your band sucks now and i used to love it" im not taking sides because maybe Tom fucked everything up, but i used to love them but now i cant even listen to the new shit
He said he doesnt blame Tom because Tom was in the studio for 2 weeks by himself making Dogs eating dogs and mark never came to the studio and recorded all his stuff at home and travis only came in for one day. Like Tom was the only one treating the band like a passion and not a check.
Saw them live Summer 2023 and SO FUCKING GLAD they toured again so I got to actually see them live. And they love they showed Travis at that show was top notch, highest caliber of an experience possible.
The +44 record and Boxcar Racer is the best material to come out of these guys. I am the perfect age for when Blink were at their peak. I always like them but were never my favorite. That +44 project though… 🙅♂️🙅♂️🙅♂️
🚫 Antony Blinken is a fine Secretary of State, and he would make a great head of state (Commander-in-Chief; federal law administrator [domestic and foreign]; veto/law finalizer via signature). President Biden might endorse him for 2024. I say, Blink '24. Cory for Veep.
Anyone know any other books with similar stuff to this, 1984, and Screwtape letters? I love reading but I honestly am pretty uncultured when it comes to books outside of my Bible😆.
I'm sorry to anyone who likes him but I always hated Tom's vocals. I couldn't quite put my finger on it until I discovered Lagwagon, but since then I'm of the opinion that Tom was always a poor man's attempt at imitating Joey Cape with nowhere near the musical talent.
Tom wanted to do alien martian shit. Mark and Travis wanted to do Blink. So they did +44 and Angels and Airwaves. Now Tom keeps his UFO interests to himself and out if the music
No one’s cares, algorithms such I literally couldn’t care less about this band. They have always been a joke band that’s the legacy of blink - 182 a Joke
After seeing them in Milwaukee a week or so ago and just being a fan of Angels and Airwaves . Let’s be honest . There is No Blink 182 without Tom Delonge
Mark has a history of being really passive aggressive. Back in 2002, Tom said he liked when the fans would come on stage, while Mark hated the fans & said they belong in the crowd, not with us
