My experience with this cup as a kid was basically "Get first in tracks 2, 3 and 4 (actually pretty easy) and pray the point difference is enough to save my butt after the absolute disaster that's inevitably going to be Serial Gaps".
Yep, pretty much. Drift Highway is too brief and spastic to actually pull off a clean win on most of the time so it was up to Aero Dive, Mobius Ring, and Long Pipe to give me the points I need to play Serial Gaps cautiously enough to survive and win overall. This is the only cup in the game where you have to account for potential "throwaway" races -- every other cup it's possible to clean sweep.
@@SolidSonicTH As a kid, I'd have to take breaks from doing Serial Gaps. The speed at which the game moved and the level of concentration needed to not screw up would actually wear me down. To this day, F-Zero GX is the only game I've ever played that's done something like that to me.
I remember, even after beating all the staff ghosts and learning "advanced" tech for competitive time attack, there still was no guarantee of getting in 1st place on Drift Highway. The AI is strong on that course.
A decade and a half later and this game still just blows me away, is it the best looking game of all time on GameCube? Probably not. But it still looks pretty good, and that framerate is just *chef's kiss* marvelous. 👌 They passed the last two systems, I sure as hell hope we see an entry on the Switch.
@@Ritiwayra I agree, ive been emulating recently and played f zero for the first time and it is without a doubt the most impressive GC game ive ever seen in terms of settings/options, content, and sheer speed of rendering without a hitch. This is the most fun ive ever had in a racing game
I remember seeing somewhere online that GX was widely considered the best looking title on the GameCube, given that they applied the same framerate-saving techniques to this while being able to fill the background nicely (and without being too distracting, to boot). Wish I could remember where I saw the quote, but honestly, I've played so many GC titles, and this one has very nice and solid textures all around, and still runs so smoothly.
F-Zero GX doesn't have the most detailed graphics I've seen on the GameCube (Rouge Leader is hard to top, to be fair), but it more than makes up for that with its stellar art direction and buttery smooth performance at incredible speeds! It's also the first game in the series to take place in locations with actual set pieces in the backgrounds.
Just so you know, I had made an F-Zero playlist, which has all of my GX videos in one place. At this time, I have no plans for more single player videos, but I eventually want to make some more multiplayer videos. ru-vid.com/group/PL298806C86C4C4079
@@arronmunroe thanks brotha. Amazing content I love it. Hopefully you'll find the time to create more F zero gx single player videos in the future as it looks awesome as well as multi-player. Cheers😁
@@Afgrahamistan It's a Mod for GX created by AKC (one of the top ten players) that increases the stats of all the vehicles until there are on par with the vehicle "Fat Shark" (Widely considered to be the fastest machine). As such everything the player does is faster, but it also affects the AI because they can use the faster machines as well.
