I can’t believe how close/casually people would stand to the track like it was no big deal.

True, and on film the speed of the cars looks much slower than reality, plus the sound is epic close to the cars.

how cool would it have been to be that close? these were different times. Nowadays we've bubble wrapped our world and insulated ourselves from such things. But sometimes living life is about taking risks, no risks.. is that really living?

I can believe.. how different it looks with another lens... it's a shame i can't show this to my father anymore 😢 he used to take a lot of photos of those races.. now I can see in full color and motion... just unveliable. We think we have advance technology but man... those recordings are sharp as hell.

I feel like people forget how much of a golden age of racing the 60s was, wish I had witnessed it firsthand because of the genius of McLaren, Colin Chapman, Jim Clark, Jackie Stewart, etc..... but I am also immensely grateful that safety is so much better now

1962 is so old, so far, that a lot of people (who were not yet born at this time) will believe that all is true..not so simple. So this Fying Clipper has to say the things frankly. It's a mix, a documentary, and note pure GP race of Monaco 1962. Saying that, I must admit that it's a great job, brilliant

@DL-ls5sy
@DL-ls5sy 3 года назад
@@MrBrainiacian500 Clipper had taken real pictures, real movies but he had put it together without warning us, without saying it frankly, honestly. A lot of people will believe it because it's so old. He is dishonest, to my mind. 1mn 36 to 1 mn 45 : start of Formula junior (sort of F3). it's easy to verify it because in F1 race there was a big jam BEFORE gazometer harpin. In formula junior, there was a little jam AFTER the harpin. At 1mn 46, it was F1. Note that Dan Gurney, Porsche N°4, was out during this shunt. so the race was over for him before the first turn. On the footage, we can see him driving his car. so It is not the race day. At 2 mn 45 - 2 mn 47 (near chicane): formula junior with this big yellow car 5'15 : 5'18 The escape lane near the chicane is also interesting : 1'16 : the barriers are open 2'47 : close 4'03 : open 4' 47 : open 5' 17 : close 5' 59 : open The Ferrari N° 40 is Willy Mairesse,not Phil Hill. For me, this clipper should had made this title : Monaco 1962 MEETING : formula junior + formula 1, pre race + race

This is stunning reproduction video. I vividly remember watching a very tiny black and white TV screen in the latter 60’s and no color TV until into the 70’s. It was impossible back then to believe that todays technology was less than a lifetime away.

I was a friend of Bruce McLaren. This video does NOTHING for showing what a great driver he was. You show mostly Ferrari, and Porsche close up, Coopers always from the distance except for the victory lap. You didn't even show him taking the flag. Motor racing fan? No way, you are just too young to know what a true driver was like.
