The ERS system is actually quite simple: Overtake: maximum output (but you cannot run it on a whole lap due to a limit on the maximum amount per lap) Hotlap: deployment over a whole lap in order to get the best time on a one-lap basis. It manages the derating-limit automatically.

The reason why 2 Stops are usually worse than a one stop is that you are not doing the 100% race. That lets the tyres wear quicker but doesnt improve the time of the tyres. So you cannot make up nearly as much time as you would in a 100% race. Also it's impossible on the softest tyres at the start because of the increased tyrewear to bridge enough of a gap to not be in traffic afterthe stop.

I just noticed something about Ocon's penalty. He actually shouldn't be able to have a gearbox penalty when he retired last race, unless the gearbox change happened in between the Saturday sessions.

AI still get stuck behind slow cars way too easily. Their scrapping costs them so much time, it's actually insane. Also, from looking at game files, overtake mode is still faster in 7th and 8th gear.

End of season will be interesting. From the looks of it you could go to any team you like, so the question is do you stay loyal to Sauber and try and win a championship with them, stay in the Ferrari ecosystem and go to Haas or more likely the Ferrari team itself, or you could switch to another midfield team to switch allegiance, or even to one of the other top teams straight away. Will be interesting, but I personally hope you stay at Sauber

Overtake gives you more speed mainly in 7th and 8th gear but its horrible around corners HotLap doesn't give as much speed but gives you more acceleration so you get the most out of corners

Overtake still uses the battery faster. As for its speed versus hot lap I'm undecided. No visible gain to top speed at spa anyway. I have a fully upgraded mercedes at the end of season 2

I think if you purple the fuel practice it gives you very little fuel, I find I have to give myself +0.5 just to finish and another +1 if I want to use rich mix.

I did the same kind of overtake in F1 2017, Canada. I was 4th. Vettel. Hamilton, Raikonen and me. Vettel messed up the last chicane, slowin Ham and Rai. I had a great line through there, overtakin Rai and Ham, and squeezeing my way through between Ham and Vettel
