I've actually built the Texaco/Marlboro McLaren M23 in 1/12th scale, from a Tamiya kit. Interesting design features. The front suspension works on a lever system so that the springs and dampers are inside the front bodywork, keeping them out of the aerodynamic flow. Gordon Coppuck was a clever guy. A bit nostalgic and sad seeing the BRM cars there, this was when the team was in a slow but seemingly unstoppable decline. They wouldn't last much longer in F1, unfortunately. Lol, the start was *definitely* speeded up! There's no way cars of that era accelerated that quickly, especially in damp conditions! Why did the camera person do that? Hmm, it seems that *MOST* of the racing action is speeded up to a ridiculous degree. Was there a fault with the camera motor? Or did the video poster speed things up to make the video seem more dramatic? If so, they ruined a good video. The cars go past so fast you can hardly see them! But still, it's better than nothing. It's not often that we get to see F1 cars from the 1970's. Thanks for sharing this.
Love the footage, it is indeed Tom Belso in the Iso Marlboro, run by Frank Williams, and thats Hans Stuck not James Hunt. Stuck drove a March. Many thanks for the upload
