OK. Subscribed. I only recently discovered the Surtees F2 incident at Brands. That must have been a one in a hundred million event. I was at Brands Hatch in 1986 to see Mansell take the flag. Back then, we didn't question whether the circuit was suitable for the lightest, most powerful machines available - we just lapped up the action from close vantage points. My interest in F1 was mainly from the early 70s, when the Cosworth DFV was king of power-plants, until the time Senna died so tragically. To me, the whole F1 thing became a bt of a circus after that but I did tune in for the final race in 2021. That was the nail in the coffin for me. What a farce. Never again. I look forward to your upcoming video.

That accident is extremely sad & it will be briefly talked about in this video as it has some relevancy to one of the accidents featured. I've only recently got into F1 & motorsport in general & it has fascinated me so much that thanks to F1TV, and other platforms, I've gone & watched every GP that I can in order to learn about the sport. Some people have called me mad for that but that's just the way I do things 😅. From doing so I can see why people enjoyed F1 a lot more in past decades & personally my favourite era to watch was 1997-2002, as well as the 1960's. It does seem like F1 has an identity issue nowadays & struggles to know whether it wants to be a show or an actual sport. I do continue to watch every GP & appreciate the success that Verstappen is earning despite the critics, but I do hope in future things will change & F1 can be about proper racing again just like it used to be. Thank You & I hope you will enjoy it when it comes out 👍

I'll be curious to see how you tackle this. I guess the other main ones that came to mind just right off would be: 1961: von Trips, Monza 1968: Schlessor, Rouen 1970: Rindt, Monza I guess, with the guard rail thing with Grosjean, you could also include: 1973: Cevert, Watkins Glen The early '70s were also a bad time in Indy Cars. The Pole for the Indy 500 increased by ~30 mph average from 1970-73 with the introduction and development of turbocharging. The 1973 Indy 500 event was marked by bad crashes for Art Pollard, Salt Walther, and Swede Savage, as well as a race that, due to weather, couldn't be declared official (having gone to at least the half-way point) until Wednesday. (In the end, they completed 133 of 200 laps.) On the F1 side, I believe the 1973 Canadian GP at Mosport saw the 1st ever Safety Car.

I will admit it has been a challenge, but It's something that I've been thinking about doing for a while now. Roughly there will be 25 accidents that will feature over the 2 Parts, so a few well known accidents have been excluded as I wanted to keep the video run-time to a suitable level & to also put focus on other accidents that are pretty much forgotten about today. I am considering doing a similar video on Le Mans & Indycar, but that will depend on whether this one does well & my overall knowledge of those 2 improve.
