F1 ticket prices are getting RIDICULOUS 

$600 to get into a race with long lines, overpriced food, and not enough toilets? Yeah, I think I'll stick to my $27 annual F1 TV pass.

Living here in the states I looked at prices as I was excited to be able to go to an event. Hopes quickly dashed as I found for myself and my wife it was cheaper to go for a 2 week cruise to the Bahamas than to spend 3 days watching a race which I have a better view of on the TV.

I'd really love to go and see a race, but with those prices... no chance. Especially with all the issues surrounding the events at the moment.

The ticket pricing to attend the Miami GP were outrageous. The worst is that the venue was packed so there is an incentive to continue the practice.

"When do fans get listened to?" Easy question to answer. We fans as a collective group are listened to right now. We want more F1 so we get more races. And we keep buying the tickets and watch the races on TV or an app. We buy the merch. When we stop giving them money and empty seats start showing up on TV, prices will come down. We always have a voice. But they don't listen to our social medias comments. They listen to our wallets.

My first F1 race was Silverstone in 2009. General admission was £90 for 3 days and they had fan vision meaning you could hear commentary and follow the race really easily. At current prices I dont think I'll be going to a race any time soon

It's actually cost me less to go to Abu Dhabi for three days, which includes return flights, hotel, car hire and tickets (sourced separately), than it did for all four days at Silverstone THIS year. When you can go half way around the world for three days for less than it cost to go a couple of hundred miles up the M1 for 4 days, something ain't right.

If you live anywhere outside Europe or the US, going to an F1 race has always been a full on extremely expensive holiday, so I guess it's now the same feeling for everyone

I am a German F1 fan since the early 2000s and even then tickets weren’t affordable. The reason why German GPs had so less fans on the race track was that it is just too expensive. On the other hand I attended several times at DTM races which wasn’t a problem of affordability at all.

I've never been to a race in nearly 25 years as a fan, and it's never seemed so far away as it does now. It's weird to imagine that when it was less 'open' under Mr. E, it was somehow less expensive, that would have been unthinkable 10 years ago.

Wanted to go to this year's Mexican GP and the ticket pre-sale was all the way back in march, the lowest priced tickets were about 100$ and they were sold out within the first few hours. Now getting a ticket is nearly impossible unless you pay like 500$

Man, before they just got a sponsor to pay a fraction of the ticket and let you know it so you use their service. Now the sponsor takes money from the ticket Also thanks to all the fans that pay the tickets to this price, because it's nothing for them. F1 doesn't care about joy anymore, just selling

After having been to Abu Dhabi and Spa, two very different circuits in two very different countries, I have to say the better the infrastructure the better the experience. In Abu Dhabi, there was a massive area way bigger than the Spa fan zone for people to hang out, get food, and chill without feeling like a sardine. In Abu Dhabi there was no wait for a bathroom right before the race, at Spa it's a 20-minute line 5 minutes before the race is supposed to start. If you're a guy and there's a trough near you, then you're lucky and get to wait just 5 minutes and piss with countless men women, and children waiting for waffles while staring at you. In Abu Dhabi the farthest you'll have to walk is a mile, if you have a disability you won't have to walk at all. At Spa, you will have to walk a minimum of a mile, and if you have a disability you can hobble up and down steep hills while getting honked at to move out of the way for rich lazy people being driven around in golf carts. These other things have more to do with the government and other businesses around the venues, but in Abu Dhabi, it will take 10 minutes to get off Yas Island after the race. At Spa, it will take 40 minutes to leave Francorchamps. If you wanna go out to a nice dinner after the race there are countless options in Abu Dhabi within walking distance, if you want to fill up a morning before going to the track you can go to amusement parks, water parks, or a mall the size of Monaco also in walking distance. At Spa, there's really nothing else to do without taking a 30-minute bus or car ride.

Would definitely love to attend a Grand Prix but to be honest, it’s way out of my league. I’d be purchasing tickets for my family of six, plus food, accommodation, gas, etc. That’s like six months rent. I’ll be sticking to watching from the comfort of my living room and I don’t have to queue for the toilets.

i would absolutely love to go to silverstone next year but the prices are just insane. it’s so sad :( the tickets are just gonna get more and more expensive every year 😞

100% agree, i was at Monza this year with general admission, You honestly couldnt see anything unless you have been at the track from 6am that morning or camped in the forest, I ended up climbing a tree, These tickets cost £80 for grandstand i believe it was over £400, madness

COTA does a good job of offering various levels of fan experiences with some temporary suites that are prices between the grandstands and the Paddock Club. It’s still expensive but at least COTA is trying to provide different price points for fans, including a race day only ticket this year that sold out quickly when sales were open to the public. I think more races putting temp seats / suites in different areas would benefit both the fans and the race hosts.

When F1 raced at Indy I could go Friday, Saturday, and Sunday for about $100. General admission tickets were $20 for each day, parking(in someone's yard a quarter mile from the track)was $10 on Friday and Saturday and $20 on Sunday. Granted, that doesn't include the 200 mile round trip 3 days in a row or breakfast and lunch in a can, but its still a bargain by today's standards.

The 3 day general admission for the Hungarian GP is 99€ and thats the cheapest ticket of the season(Sunday is 88€). Looking at other circuit prizes I am quite happy to have that circuit not too far away

I went to Zandvoort this year and the thing I found most infuriating was the fact the screens don’t show lap or interval times. Apart from the first couple of laps it was incredibly difficult to tell how big the gap was between drivers. That said Zandvoort was extremely well organized

Crowd control We attended COTA in 2017 & 2018, and the mass of people in all of the common areas of the track made getting around a huge pain. Huge lines to access the bridges to cross the track to the T3-T9 seating, followed by people stopping to watch on the stairways & clogging things up further. I heard that 2021 was even worse, with it being a sell out race. It was expensive then, something like $400USD each for 3 day tickets with reserved seating at T9 & T3 respectively.

As a 450$ gold ticket holder at the Spa 2021 fiasco, our dad and my F1 enthousiasm took a serious beating. Honestly, we’ve been robbed from a once maybe twice in a lifetime experience.

Another problem may be that F1 is getting more greedy and wanting tracks to pay more for races to be held there, meaning the track needs to up the ticket price. That could be the reason for some tracks, but I don't know

I tried buy tickets to Hamilton A grandstand. When I joined the queue when the tickets cost about £500 for 3 days. 1.5 days later I made it to the front of the queue and they'd increased to £700. I didn't buy them. I'd rather not give them the money, dynamic pricing in such a system is disgraceful.

I had a miami grandstand ticket that was $1100. It made me laugh when there was no security or anyone checking tickets. Ppl with GA tickets could walk in and sit next to me. I felt so foolish lol

I really enjoy watching the races from the comfort of my room, nice cool clear commentary and also all the racing angle looks its the perfect package.

i remember going to my first ever gp in austin back in 2019. cost about 150 dollars for a three day general admission. one of the best times in my life (except for the traffic). was planning on going this year until i saw the prices jumped to 250-300 dollars for general admission. at that point im just going to watch at home

as an someone who watches the nfl i can say the same too. tickets are crazy and when it comes to something like the superbowl, the cheapest of seats can be a couple thousand dollars. its gotten to the point where even players complain how there arent as many "true" fans in the stadiums since a lot of them are pretty much just rich people who go bc the events are hyped up. Not only that, but ads are playing like every 10 minutes for tv viewers. its getting so bad and its honestly one of the main reasons im starting to get into soccer

The main reason I didn't go to the Canadian GP this year was cost. I had to buy my passport, which was $300 by itself, but then General Admission seating on the grass with no decent view of the track was going for $320 a ticket...for JUST RACE DAY. Not a weekend pass. Prime seats at the Grand stands were for $1,200 for a single day ticket. Absolutely insane.

ive been wanting to go to my first F1 race since last year but prices are getting crazy, especially as an American when the cheapest Miami tickets i could find were $1,750

Spent over 2500 on the weekend to watch a race finish under yellow. I go to Montreal every single year, but Monza was just the absolute worst experience of my life. Never doing it again and possibly will never go to Montreal again either. Used to cost me $500 for start/finish line seats for the whole weekend, this last time the same tickets were well over 5k unless you had tickets from the previous year (race was cancelled due to covid and we were able to use those tickets for the next year).

Yes! Thank you for the Silverstone pricing disgrace, I waiting for a 3 day copse seating which was £330 to begin with, by the time the website ‘crashed’ twice the prices went up to £490, for the first time in 5 years I won’t be going and it that rate I won’t again, greed has taken over F1 from the outrageous price rise to the stupid amount of races next season, the F1 I loved is dying😢

Thanks for addressing this issue, really. The grandstand ticket I paid for the upcoming Japanese GP is $800/person, the parking slot is $130, the hotel is $300/night. The crazy thing is that tickets sold out as soon as they went on sale.

Not watched this yet however this year's Silverstone tickets experience was appalling - I was there trying to purchase a ticket the moment sales opened on both Thursday & Friday however their sales system simply wouldn't connect to let me buy anything until Saturday morning when I had been priced out of going & even the general access tickets were sold out @ £300. Feel truly screwed over as I already have Woodlands camping tickets because my son & I have been attending for years & their sales system wasn't pathetic 🤬 I doubt I will be in a position to attend again unless things improve next year, cannot justify Grandstand prices just to carry my own deck chair & try to find a patch of dust to sit on & will not tolerate being repeatedly booted out of queues for 48h straight while watching prices skyrocket 😥

This is my first year following F1 and I thought I might want to go watch a race live once, then I saw how high the prices were and after hearing how bad the experience can be, my desire to go to a track to watch a race is almost less than before.

F1 has always been the sport of the middle-class and upper-class as a spectator and a participant. Just look at the locations, Monaco being the easiest to spot...

I’m supposed to be going to COTA for my first race in my life. Always wanted to go since I was a kid, now 18. I pray that things go smoothly and that the experience of seeing F1 isn’t overshadowed by seating and ticket issues

I genuinly appreciate you guys making these videos! The one with the Monza debacle and this one should be shared on every social media platform, on every official channel for everyone to see. It can't continue like this. And I'm quite sure, the current hype will die off in two or three years. Then, what will all those money hungry "hosts" do, when they wont sell anymore of their overpriced tickets... Plus, it allready is a rich people sport, so it atleast shouldn't be necessery to be rich as a fan of the sport aswell...

Ok 1: Everything’s getting more expensive anyway, 2: Naturally as you said, popularity is booming and circuits should price it higher to balance the supply/demand. Rather have more expensive tickets than a completely stuffed and overcrowded venue. It’s not unfair or bad that tickets are more expensive because of more demand. My personal issue/opinion is that in case of awful fan experiences, if tickets are at a premium price, then the quality of life/overall experience should match. So tv screens/good in-circuit broadcasting, easy access to facilities like food/restrooms, easy transport/parking etc.

I went to this year's Australian Grand Prix (Saturday only) tickets were $87 AUD (around 52 pounds) for general admission. A four day general admission pass was $189 AUD (around 112 pounds) and children under 14 were free. Compared to around the world these prices were great. Visibility was good. I was sat at the 9-10 (used to be 11-12) right left. There was a great viewing point on the hill. I moved across to the now removed chicane and that was probably the better spot. There was plenty of food and water accessible. The support V8 supercar races were great and so was the f5000 (like F3 but with 5 litre V8 engines). The Addition of F2 and F3 support races will be welcomed. My one gripe was with travelling to different parts of the circuit. As the track is based on the roads around Albert park lake, and there are no permanent bridges across the lake you were forced to walk across a floating bridge which didn't feel all that sturdy. Overall it was a great experience. I do feel for people who live in the area as the park is shut down for 3 months before the Grand Prix which stops people from accessing it through the summer.

It needs to be a festival weekend, like going to Ultra or Tomorrowland. Throw some headliners in there, a car show, huge screens to follow the action from all divisions, and let's have a celebration of speed!

there's two problems: 1- if people will pay, prices wont decrease. no reason to charge less than you can 2- if you force prices to decrease, scalpers and bots will scoop up every ticket and resell them probably for more than they're priced now its a sucky situation, but not sure what there really is to do

This will only get worse. As long as there are people that can afford it, prices will keep rising. I was at the GP weekend in Zandvoort and it made me think: the bigger the event, the more F1 attracts people that are not even genuinely interested in F1 anymore but just want to have a "good" party and a good story to tell afterwards. Shame in my opinion, but shouldn't have been surprised. It's all about seeing and being seen anyways. I'll just keep coming to the historic grand prix weekends in Zandvoort. Car and race enthousiasts, way better sound, tickets not even 10% the price and no cues for food and drinks.

Yes. Having been at the Canadian GP, I agree with more screens and audio for the GA experience. It reminded me of being at a concert where I could see just 10 seconds at a time every lap. And had no idea what was going on. I checked my phone. But with 100k people also doing the same, good luck!

I was so lucky this year. Got my ticket of 95€ for three days Red Bull Ring and because of the hills I could lay in the grass and still see two thirds of the track. Additionally I had the opportunity to sleep at my grandparents house, who live only a 30 minute bike commute away from the track! I hope it stays like this for next year, would be very welcome :)

I went to Canada GP this year. I paid about $2k USD to sit at turn 10 (on top of ~$3k for hotel + airfare). With nearly 350k attendees, the experience was TERRIBLE. Long queues, disgusting restrooms, discomfort (no social distancing), lack of organization, RAIN. It was pure chaos. I will NOT be attending any more F1 races. Personally, i think more people should NOT attend races in-person. I also partially blame celebrities for driving up ticket costs.

I live in México and was fortunate enough to win 2 tickets for the Mexican 2021 gp. The prices are crazy. Most tickets are above 400usd. That is more than alot make in a month. The Mexican gp is one of the most expensive venues in the calendar.

Good on you Matt for bringing this it up! Tickets prices are getting astronomical, definetly the way to go, these days is ONLY to get Early Birds, it can save you upto 50% on Weekend tickets. These days you need to plan a minimum 7-9 months ahead, with only prior to Covid 3-4 months was more then enough... One way to make the experience better, would be to re-introduce Kangaroo TV/ FanVision. I tried to use F1 TV at Monza, but it was impossible to follow it properly! While the FanVision gave you EVERYTHING you needed to follow when at the track, like the strategy, onboards/ live timing etc!

The Mexican GP is one of the most expensive in the calendar, there is a "section" of about 200 people that is about 150 usd for 3 days (it sells inmediatly as there is so little tickets). The stadium is about 300 usd but is sells in like 10 seconds and resale is min 500+ other parts of the track are minimum 700+ and main grandstand (the starting line) 1500-2000 and what do you get? Water and mobile toilets, food? Thats 100 usd at least per person, etc... (all the prices are per person)

Being right beside Montreal, I have memories of going to school and hearing the V10s and V8s echo over the river every summer. Even though I played F1 1997 on the PS1 as a child, and my dad got me a Mika McLaren toy F1, 2021 was the first year I got really into it, where I knew every current driver's name, I knew a bit of history, etc. So when F1 returned to Montreal this year, I was initially interested in going, but when I saw that GA was $800+ for the weekend, and $600 just for Sunday, I decided against it.

It was really upsetting to see these prices go up. I live in Florida, and happened to make it to the F1 event they had in Biscayne Blvd back in 2018. I was so hyped to have an F1 race less than 1 hour's drive away, I was fully prepped to go all out with saved up money for a paddock pass or at least some good seats at an overtake corner. I knew of the prices at COTA, which were, prior to '21, reasonably priced, and expected only slightly more. Probably $200-300 for a proper experience. Come to find out the tickets were over $650 for the cheapest spot on the track, after having the tickets sold out before the second group (I was the second group of website passcodes) can even access the website to purchase. The course, while a fun race in hindsight, is still a track on the parking lot of my college football stadium, and isn't a historical or famous course either. Looking at the other comments and such, if F1 doesn't make the tickets more affordable/ available to the masses, the celebrity walk is gonna be the only type of fan that can enjoy the race in person, since only the top 0.5% of the planet will be able to go to these races come 2030.

F1 ticket prices are indeed insane. Apparently, according to various sources, the cheapest F1 ticket for the South African GP (which was obviously scraped for 2023), was to be around R3000-R5000 rand per ticket, for the cheapest seat. R3000-R5000 is about 1/5 of most South African people's salary. Heck, for some that might be more like a 1/4 or even closer to half of their monthly salary, which is just bogus.

In Mexico tickets were so overpriced that the prices haven't changed till this year. But I am curious to know the price for tickets in, let's say Silverstone depending the zone you are allowed to enter with the ticket you buy.

I went to the Australian GP this year, i paid $180 AUD for 4 days of GA, thought it was decently priced for 4 days worth of events.

If people buy these tickets, they’ll price them high enough. I think Silverstone should build more stands and keep their current ticket pricing model.

I paid $500 or so for a one day GA pass to the USGP in 2021. This price was the crazy inflated price of buying through a reseller (Ticketmaster). The parking and walking to the track was the first downside (it was easily 2+ miles to get to the entrance). I can't really fault COTA, but more of a rookie mistake on our part in timing; by the time we made it into the circuit, every GA area was already super packed. In this peak Drive to Survive era, the crowd was there at 8am waiting to storm up to the turn one hill. Concessions were all easily available and credit card payment was seamless. It was a fun experience, but I get better race viewing from F1TV and my couch.

I got my spot in preorder for Las Vegas but I'm really afraid of how expensive prices will be once released. I may not even end up buying one when I get the chance. I'm also keeping an eagle eye on November 2023 hotel tickets, as it's too early at this moment to even reserve a room. Will be interesting to see how expensive advanced reservation rooms are in a couple of months.

What gets me is the price of merchandise at the track. I went to Budapest in July for a fairly responsible price, about 1200 for a four day stay, three day grandstand tickets, transfers, flight, etc. However the on track prices where ridiculous. Caps where £55 when you can get them for about 30-40 from teams official websites. One of my friends also got caught out in the rain and was forced to spend £40 on a umbrella, which he then couldn’t have up in the stand meaning we watched practice and the f2 standing in general admission. I get paying a small premium for saying you got it at the track but the caps especially being about £20 more was just a joke.

It makes me really sad because my family were thinking about going for mine and my brother's 18th birthday present but unfortuanty we cannot afford it anymore. It's just a bit disapointing because we were really excited at the though of going but F1 has squeezed everyones wallets to an inch of their lives in the name for profit. If this is a general trend and prices never come down to what they were before, I don't think I'll ever get the chance to go to a grand prix weekend ever again, and I bet the same is felt by many other fans of the sport. There will always be fans to fill the grandstands that will be prepared to spend that money because they can afford it as they are from wealthier backgrounds. My family isn't poor by any stretch of the imagination but F1 doesn't care about us as fan's, they only care about those with more money (which i get makes sense) but it isolates so many loyal fans and deters new fans from wanting to watch it. Unfortuantly I don't think prices will come down though

My dad used to go to a lot of the British Grand Prix back in the day when ticket prices were like £20 or so. He’s always banging on about how he’d love to go to another race sometime, but not have to re mortgage the house to afford it 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

My wife and I have wanted to go for the last few years. When looking this year, she said "Well, we could afford the closing costs on a house, or we could go to an F1 race." That's how you know pricing has gotten insane.

paid the equivalent of 120gbp for a 3-day pass in interlagos this year, and the cheapest 3-day ticket available was just 67gbp!! In my experience on previous races in this venue, it takes no more than 5 minutes to get from the entrance to your seat, and the line outside the entrance was never longer than 30 minutes, there are many food trucks and food&drink stands from the circuit itself so the lines there are always reasonable. Brazil is usually very unorganized and over-bureaucratic when it comes to events but they sure know how to properly set up a good fan experience on races (not only f1)

True. Prices for Interlagos just kicked me out of 2022 race. Thank god we have other great categories here like Copa Truck, GT3 and our main home racing championship, Stock Car Pro Series. Stock car has names like Massa, Barrichello, Piquet Jr, Tony Kanaan and many other very talented drivers. Even my city is represented in Átila Abreu. I would love to attend a F1 GP but prices are not fair.

I only went to Melbourne ones. Ticket was around 50€. The view was amazing (at the end of the start straight) with a big screen to see the whole race. Overall mega experience. It was 2015 though... Not the prices in Europe are just too crazy. I will not visit any race under those circumstances. When nobody goes, the prices will fall again

I paid $350 for the race weekend at the US Grand Prix this year. Not including flights and hotels. Oh also I don’t have a seat, I have to sit in the grass. 😅

What really sucks is I’m from Las Vegas and have never been to see a race in person. I finally have a career where I can afford to go, and now my (funnily enough) former employer is buying 20 million worth of tickets just to upcharge the rooms. It makes sense for MGM to do it, but it sucks for the rest of us. I just want to be able to go lol

I bought 2 tickets to this year's US Grand Prix 7 months ago... Each ticket was $500, and after fees and taxes, it was $1500. For 2 tickets. On the lawn. No grandstands, not pit passes, and only for Sunday, not the 3 day tickets.

I'd love to see a race or even just a practice session, but the nearest race to me in California would be Las Vegas, and that's going to be outrageously expensive. Still awesome to watch on television and I'm super excited for three races in the US next season.

A single day ticket for FE Seoul, Korea was at 70usd ~ 350usd. and seats were not even at the starting nor the finishing line. Only at the stadium. So the prices were also an issue here too. Hope Formula tickets to be sensible and acceptable for the fans.

320 seems like a decent price to me for a 3 day event in the year 2022 honestly. What would make the experience generally better imo would be better thought out entry/exit from the venue. meaning the entrance/exit for the actual track, as well as the surrounding parking lots and roads. I feel like that is the most common issue across the majority of tracks on the calendar. As for during the time at the actual track, like you said in the video having ample toilets and food/drink options is the bare minimum honestly. they know how many tickets they are selling for each day of the weekend, so there is no reason there should be 30-60 minute lines for the bathroom or a drink. for GA specifically, having banked grassy areas around the circuit, like Turn 11 in COTA where I spent most of my time last year during the weekend, makes for a great way to actually experience the cars on track

paddock pass cost around $3k here in Singapore. It got sold out quickly and many are scalping for profit at around $5k per person per day

My daughters (11 & 5) both REALLY wanted to go to COTA this year, but race tickets alone would be over a grand for the three of us.

Honestly, Zandvoort did an amazing job. The only thing I would say could be better were the amount of places where you could get out of the sun and into the shade

New F1 fan here from the U.S and I apologize to my UK friends since it seems our new interest in the sport has driven up the price of tickets. I myself wanted to go to the U.S Grand Prix last October but the prices were so ridiculous, around $500 to $600 for general admission, way. more than any sporting event ever should be. I hope to attend a race one day but right now can’t afford to.

The law says that the purpose of a company is to create as much profit as possible for the shareholders. I don't know how cheaper tickets could be justified if it would affect the bottom line. Business is business… Sad to be the only defender of capitalism 😅

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, for f1 fans in Miami, it is cheaper to see the race on Sunday in Austin (including air fare and hotel) than it is to buy a Miami gp ticket.

Canadian GP 3 day general admission for lawn tickets (cheapest available) were $999 + tax. Hotels and air bnb's within 1 hour of the track were charging $1500 - $6000 per night for that weekend

Stopped going to silverstone 5 years ago, when for me and my two sons it cost over £1k for covered grandstand tickets for the 3 days, food and a tiny bit of Merch (caps) Luckily enough we only live about 45mins away, or there’d be accommodation costs on top of that too. But like you said, if I won’t pay it, someone else will. We’ve all got to draw our line somewhere.

To put it in perspective, a ticket for general admission for Le Mans (including all the practices, qualifying and supporting races) will cost €90 next year

F1 ticket: 1k and you get mediocre seats with a view of not even 1/5th of the track Nascar tickets: $15 and you see the whole track, plenty of open seats so you’re not crammed in, and easy access to food and drink (at least for the lower series)

For a Nascar race at Talledega, I spent $145 for my seat, $45 for radio scanner, and $90 for garage pass. I got to meet some drivers, get close to the cars, go in the pits (pre race), walk out onto the track. I even got Donny Allison signature. I'm content watching on F1 app til they make the fan experience worth the money.

I don't get how a track can charge £300+ for a GA ticket to F1, when you can spend £30 GA for the British or World GT and have more access, better racing and an all round better experience to be honest. The mind boggles.

I paid €350 for a 2 day ticket for the Dutch Grand Prix this year. Eastside 1 Grandstand. The price seemed quite expensive, but I was happy enough to pay their ransom so that I could go to a race. I was definitely expecting better for that price in terms of the facilities and quality of the stands/views. Temporary stands with dodgy seats and impossibly long queues for food and drink. The view was also significantly worse than I had expected - I thought I would have been able to see the full straight from that position, but the view was limited to maybe 100m of track with the angles and obstructions. Granted it was probably the best trip I’ve ever been on, I feel like the price could be far more reasonable. If food, drink and merch are going to be so expensive inside the venue, they need to lower admission prices so that people won’t be priced out of attending.

I was at Monza this year, in a grandstand at Ascari. Tickets were around 350 Euro, which I thought was pretty good compared to Silverstone prices. There was a guy sat up a tree next to me who had the same view as I did, and I suspect his branch was more comfortable than my bench. Viewing options for GA were awful and folks has to resort to standing on anything they could find to gain enough height to get a view of the track. Wheelie bins, benches, tables, stacked up tree branches, climbing trees, climbing up the back and sides of the limited GA stands, all sorts going on. The things that really detracted from the experience though started with the chaos of actually getting in to the circuit; where I entered this was just a disorganised crowd crammed down a side street shuffling forward slowly for over an hour to then have any bottled water confiscated or uncapped by security. That wouldn't have been terrible had it been possible to actually buy any food or drink inside the circuit, but a very poorly implemented cashless system meant you pretty much had to choose to watch the action on the track or spend hours, literally hours, queuing first to try and exchange money for tokens and then again to exchange tokens for food or drink. Not well done at all and caused problems for a lot of people throughout the weekend. Back to Silverstone next year. Managed to get tickets, and only got mildly violated by the dynamic daylight robbery pricing. A ticket has a face value, which should not change while you are waiting for somebody's technology fail to resolve. Dynamic pricing on event and concert tickets is extortion - after sitting in a virtual queue for 4.5 hours they know they have you over a barrel and you are unlikely to back out of the purchase even if the price has been inflated. Steps have been taken to eliminate scalping on tickets, but now the official channels are scalping the tickets themselves!

2 tickets for US GP general admission was $1,200, while selecting it says $400/ticket but theirs a whole lot of taxes and fees you dont see til you are in checkout

My first race was Mugello 2020, and I got a good first experience because tickets were really few. After that, every other GP I attended I got disappointed.

I went to Barcelona Grand Prix this year and my total expenses including tickets, hotel, food, flights and others were almost 800€, and mine was an entry level as you mention.

The experience is worth the price tag. Those who say they wouldn’t pay that much probably never been to an F1 event 🤷‍♂️ This is the high level of automotive racing with the best drivers in the world you get to witness. Experience > Price.

3:30 What would be a nice addition is leader/ interval times and tire info on the screens next to the names. Just like on TV./ Viaplay. BTW we payed about EUR 600 for our seats at the main-straigth in Zandvoort.

In France some tickets costed more than 350€. The access to the circuit was so poorly made that all the access roads in a 15 mile radius were completely blocked. Some fans were stuck in their car for 7 hours and missed the race. They were refunded.

My wife and I just attended the USGP last weekend and got main grandstand seats. We’ve been attending since 2014 and COTA just isn’t equipped for the spike in attendance. The farm roads out near COTA meant people waiting in 2-4 hour traffic, and we spent an hour and a half waiting in line for a shuttle. We had to leave right as the front runners crossed the line…sheriffs had to get involved as there were 3 competing lines to get to the same shuttle line. COTA also went down in terms of food quality near the grandstand from last year. The food was expensive and pretty bland at best. Austin has a great local food scene and festivals like ACL take advantage of that. Why COTA had no name food trucks out there is beyond me. And with the 440,000 in attendance it took forever to get anywhere. Going from the main grandstand to a Biergarten between Turns 1 & 2 took almost 30 minutes one day as a walking area was too narrow. Friends coming from say Turn 15 had to cross a bridge and just gave up because it took so long.

I went to Montreal last year for the first time, tickets for three days was $750 Cad, average hotels for three nights is $2500 - $4000. $10 cans of beer, $180 for a red bull golf tee and $80 for a hat. Boy was it an expensive 3 days

My dad bought tickets for silverstone this year it cost over a grand including camping and I didn't want to get any merch because even that's expensive and the food is absolutely rubbish apart from some places

I was looking at going to the US GP in Austin and prices were about 2k for the three days. That was the cheapest ticket that you could get at that point. It's insane how is any normal fan supposed to put up with that? It's not as though it was some special access ticket. Madness
