For how fast that 919 goes it’s insane he fans the throttle how he does. F1 cars handling smokes this car but the speed at which this car takes those turns is a beast
@@amalkallarackal9293 Dude, the 919 EVO is just a demonstration to how much faster a WEC car could be compared to the regulated. Not to mention this car costed a fraction of a top-tier F1 car. If Porsche really wanted to challenge F1 with this, they would've bought F1 tires and would've made this flying lap in the summer, not winter. Cold track, worse tires, and it's still within 1 second of Leclerc's pole lap.
@@Petidani0330 Dude... The F1 car is just an F1 car. Its not illegally modified to demonstrate how far an f1 car can go... And if they actually did make one it'll be running circles around the 919 EVO
@@insansiregar7522 Yes, but everyone seems to forget to appreciate that a car that weighs so much more and had much less downforce at the start can keep up with the fastest cars on Earth.
@@sortaanonymouslaex9564 And you seem to forget (or maybe don't even know) that Porsche 919 *EVO* is a modified version of the standard Porsche 919. Which means, that it's modified without any regulations that resticts the full performance and that's why it's illegal in the competition, while the F1 is not modified it's still the standard version with many regulations that restricts the full performance. To sum it up, standard 919 is nowhere near F1. And, if Ferrari make a modified version of their F1 car without having to follow the regulations and call it Ferrari F1 SF90 *EVO* , then it would also be much faster than the Porsche LMP1 919 EVO (even in straight line speed, if Ferrari F1 swap the engine back to V10. Since V10 F1 engine has faster acceleration and higher top speed than both the current V6 Turbo Hybrid F1 engine & LMP1 engine).
@@prakharsharma2596 and the 919 evo has AWD system... So your argument doesn't really matter... Yes we can praise it as a standalone illegal car, but if they want to compare themselves with stock f1... Gtfo
doesn't rly matter. they broke the f1 18' record while using everything they could do on this car and f1 took it back in it's limitations. Do that with a F1 car and it will be 5-10 Seconds faster easily. Maybe more.
@@E9X330 no, it wasn't a brand new car, but they removed all the limitations. Imagine is you remove the limitations from an F1 car, no turbo boost limit, no hybrid power limit, not fuel flow limit, ride height limit, limit to aero components and no cost cut. They will go couple of seconds faster easily.
@@Acecombatrules59 Depending on what you mean? How far do you wanna go. Unrestricted car would be so fast that drivers couldn't handle the g force and tyres couldn't actually hold it for a lap. Google Red Bull X2010
@@MarkoPejic14 SF90 has more down force then the Evo.. Please don't make comments that triggers people like me... Educate yourself before you comment something like that
@@dariusguinds6667 the 919 Evo has a lot more surface to play around with, of course it's going to have more downforce, especially if it's unregulated - But it doesn't matter since it weighs a lot more than the SF90, which means its cornering ability isn't better :)
Elias Gonzalez F1 cars could be up to 5 seconds faster if not more with the base car and unrestricted aerodynamics and no fuel flow/battery usage limits
@@CS_Mango Nope, ferrari's engine was using extra fuel when the sensor wasn't detecting. It's like driving over the speed limit in an area with no speed cameras. And slowing down when speed cameras are there. You may not get caught but it's still illegal!
@@timsherman3324 if you would have read my comment properly. Then you would have reallised that I overlooked that the Ferrari did a qualifying lap. You're trying to debunk an argument which was just a misunderstanding.
Wow thank you for this! A lot of people have been speculating. They're so close but, the REGULATED and RESTRICTED F1 is still just ahead despite the LMP1 being COMPLETELY unrestricted in this run.
@@wildwilco well mercedes who started all the fuss about the ferrari engine now have pulled out from the fight to know if ferraris engine was illegal...
Now imagine what an F1 car would be like with a similar style of modifications: covered wheels, floor skirts, unrestricted fuel flow & unrestricted hybrid power.
@@bradleywilliams3730 i watch f1 for the engeneering and the fact cars. If good racing is partof it then its cool. To me not every race needs to look like f3. If i wanted to see that id watch f3.
Imagine an f1 EVO V10 engine + ERS Blown diffuser Fan attached to engine Double diffuser Drs enabled at will Smaller chassis, lighter car (2000s size) No fuel flow restriction No ground clearance restriction No aero restrictions No weight restrictions No ballast restriction And now you have a car that deals permanent physical damage to a driver’s organs and muscles through Stowe or first lesmos sustaining 7,8,9 Gs for seconds
This is SPA, long straight, low down force high speed track. Of course 919 can keep up with SF90. In a high down force and slow speed track no car can go along with an F1 car.
@@karpabla Different cars for different competitions. let's compare some of the regulations: 1. in F1 you can use 3 engines for the whole season, in WEC competetions you can use 1 engine for each race. 2. F1 engines are 1.6 litre V6 turbo hybrid, in LMP1 you are free to use some of engine volumes, electric motors, batteries and turbochargers or superchargers. 3. One of the F1 silly regulations is 6 days pre-season test sessions but in WEC you can test your car when and where ever you want. I don't have enough time to type all of them. Formula one is the most sophisticated motor racing and engineering competiotions.
Not going to lie, that's kind of irrelevant. Take an SF90 to Le Mans, and the 919 EVO would absolutely shit on it. Take a 919 EVO to Monaco, and obviously the SF90 would win. Each are masters of their own trade, obviously they're going to perform differently on different tracks.
@Cykrill The 919 EVO did a 1:41.7 at Spa not too long after the one shown in this video. It currently holds the lap record. And when I said "the 919 is faster", it's literally objectively faster. It's top speed is ~20mph faster than that of the F1 car's, and that's with a relativly high downforce setup. "Not to mention, the 919 isn't even the fastest on a straight line, the Bugatti Chiron would destroy it as it can go 300mph+" Straight line speed isn't only top speed, it's acceleration too. The 919 would reach its top speed probably close to 20 seconds faster than the Chrion. Plus your figure isn't even right, the Chrion is limited to 261mph. The Koenigsegg Agera RS is the car you want when looking for something to beat an LMP1 car in a straight line.
Vettel did a 1:41.501 in 2018 qualifying, imagine how quick a current F1 car could go with traction control and ABS, and without fuel flow restrictions, minimum weight regulations etc
I do not mind the comparison but these 2 cars are completely different to one another; regulations, specs, etc. There are certain tracks that f1 or evo could dominate in. So I don't really consider the gap of these two cars.
F1 is faster in slow speed acceleration and hard braking (lighter), more downforce but higher drag - so the top speed is bit lower than 919 despite the weight advantage.
Indeed, thie 919 did 1.41.770 and it could still go faster with better preparation and a better driver. We are litterally comparing something similar to free practice or even pre season testing level of preparation vs Q3... I believe that 919 Evo would eat any F1 if it went under same process and preparation and a driver at Hamilton level.
@@schumifan78 even though the 919 evo record is broken, its still beter than f1 in every single way. And, its the fastest car round the Nurburgring. Can an F1 car beat the 919 evo on Nurburgring? Theoretically yes, but F1 car would be destroyed in the middle of the ring
919 is not completely "unregulated", it is a modified LMP1-vehicle with some aerodynamics modifications and removed drivetrain restrictors rather than completely redesigned outlaw monster. I've read that all these mods were developed within very modest budget incomparable to what F1 teams spend.
Oh my God! For me that Porsche performance was shockingly great ,amazingly unexpected! 2019 F1 cars was one of the fastest track racing cars ever... difference is one second... Amazing.
I've seen both up close trackside and F1 cars are crazy quick, glued to the track and impressive when you can see the vortexes spinning from the bodywork, and the sound, especially pre hydrid was insane. But...nothing compared to an LMP1 in full flight, they were so nuts all you could do was just laugh that they'd built those things.
Finally a real-life comparison. And it sets the record straight, doesn't it. Plus, Leclerc's 2019 pole wasn't even the fastest lap around spa for an F1 car.
One second of gap is an adyss.. The 919 during the main straight reach the 370 km/h against the "only" 330 of an F1, but there isn't compare in brakes and corners speed percorrenze... The F1 is umbeattable..
The Porschen 919 comes with regulations too, there is actually a video about the record on the Nordschleife where they didnt had to meet any regulations and they say what they changed and why.
That 919 EVO record is NOT safe right now. These 2020 cars are MUCH faster than the 2019 ones. Mercedes should beat the lap record this upcoming weekend.
It's impressive these two cars go on head to head. But the issue is F1 cars are capable making good corners faster than 919 EVO. So they need acknowledge this problem
Ayrton Coetzee Yep! And somehow watching this Porsche prototype go faster than Williams is more satisfying than a Mercedes 1 2 🤷♂️ (F1 is good, but GT racing is 🔥 IMO)
Yekami Racing Tuning a car to set a lap record might be regarded as cheating, I know I do. ...and BMW is already following Porsche with their ‘Competition Packages’. Instead of respecting the model for whatever they represent in the car industry, they keep coming with letters and fancy words to add to the same car to make it fast and try to keep up with the competitors.
While the porsche is an unrestricted LMp1 car and the Ferrari a restricted f1 car. A disadvantage the 919 has is the tires, they are grooved and only 310mm on all sides, compared to 405 rear and 325 front slicks on the f1 car.
In the 2022 regulations F1 cars will be way slower than they are now, in fact they’ll BARELY be faster than F2 cars meaning other racing classes will likely be faster than F1 and they sound better than F1 too lol 😂
I want to see all shackles released, but you have to race your one car in all types of races. F1 style track, NASCAR track, drag race, endurance, rally, baja
I was still a bit curious about this one cuz 2019 Ferrari had incredible straight line speed versus the 919 but the corners what makes F1 superior in that regard.
F1 faster in "slow" corners due to the open wheel system and aerodynamics, the Porsche is MUCH faster on straight and fast corners. In a real race, a Porsche would confidently ride in the middle of the peloton.
@@khoado2060 I know it :) This engine is capable of withstanding over 36 hours of full load. A modified version for records can withstand more than 12 hours.
Though the 919 is slower against Ferraris and Red Bulls, it's still scary to consider this is a car that could consistently beat the McLaren or Aston Martin F1 cars.
The porsche looked to be much closer to the limit than the ferrari. Much better to watch a car with less grip fight through every turn than an f1 car that is glued to the track.
The straight line speed of the 919 is crazy and it holds its ground in the corners as well but you can see that the f1 car gains massively on the high speed corners with all the aero
Now that's fast, it was cool how they had beated Hamilton's pole time in the previous year. If they had slightly better brakes, they could've keep up with Leclerc here as well.
