About to change my diff oil/ cover, you got the 8.8 diff as well not the 9.75
@MeAndCarKeys

😮 how are you able to tell the difference? All of research showed 9.75. And if so… would I have ruined it?!

great video, my rear differential is not leaking but I am planning on changing the fluid and am thinking about pumping the fluid out from the fill hole instead of removing the cover. 🤷🏼‍♂️
@MeAndCarKeys
@MeAndCarKeys 2 года назад
Thanks bro! That’s a great idea!! That would probably be easier. No point in removing the cover if you don’t need to!
@christopherpfleegor4447
@christopherpfleegor4447 2 года назад
i would recommend removing the cover and at least change the gasket anyway. the LAST thing you want to do is change the fluid and then have to do it all over again if the cover starts leaking a couple months from now. like MACK showed on his cover the gasket was not great on his, and also using pump will not get all of the gear oil out (most of yes, but not all of it)... just my opinion tho. you could use the pump to get the worst of the fluid out before removing the cover to avoid a bigger mess

What did you use to color the center of your front bumper? I see you have that super 8.8 12-bolt diff. I have that too, they are not as common as the 9.75.
@MeAndCarKeys
@MeAndCarKeys 7 месяцев назад
Sup! I actually painted the front and rear bumpers myself. They were originally chrome. It was a while ago so I don’t remember which paint I used but here’s the video of it. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-HDjd5ulolJM.htmlsi=wFGYal3_e9Ix7giZ As fas as the rear diff… I need to research it again. You’re the second person who’s mentioned 8.8. I thought I had the 9.75. How do you tell the difference??
@jayykidd
@jayykidd 7 месяцев назад
@@MeAndCarKeys so I looked on my door sticker too and it referenced a 9.75. Luckily I noticed that our super 8.8 is symmetrical. The regular 8.8 only has 10 bolts and the 9.75 12 bolt is tapered on the right side. Keep up the great work, you are an inspiration to a lot of people!
@ReHEZ
@ReHEZ Год назад
Hi not sure if you noticed but i made the same mistake as you did, if you look at the two middle holes on the right and left side of the diff cover im not including the bottom ones or top ones but the two in the middle. I found that when applying the RTV gasket we are suppose to go outwards the cover in a "U" shape not inwards or straight when applying the RTV sealant. This due to the two breather holes located on middle of the pumpkin. Hope this makes sense but i dont think it will impact anything at least i dont think so. Also just an interesting fact but i guess the diffs with the 3.55 gear ratio are made that way vs a 3.31 where they dont contain those two breather holes.
@MeAndCarKeys
@MeAndCarKeys Год назад
😮whoa! No I didn’t notice it. Maybe this summer I’ll take it back off and correct that. Im not sure if it will affect anything either, but I don’t want to have any issues. Thanks for bringing that to my attention!! I may just get a new diff cover anyway so that would be a good time. Thanks for the comment and thanks for watching!
@ReHEZ
@ReHEZ Год назад
@@MeAndCarKeys of course! A new diff cover would make maintenance a breeze on these if you don’t have a fluid suction device. Either way God bless you and your family!

Good video but you got the Super 8.8 diff not the 9.75, the shapes are different with the bigger one is more oblong. I learned this on my 16' sport 4x4 as well.
@MeAndCarKeys
@MeAndCarKeys 7 месяцев назад
Thanks a lot! And Honestly, you’re the 3rd person who’s said that!! I can’t tell the difference and when I checked the code on the inside door tag, it registered as 9.75. I’m so confused!! 😂 do they both use the same diff fluid should be my first question??
@5fifty794
@5fifty794 7 месяцев назад
@@MeAndCarKeys All good! As far as I know they do require the same fluid. I think the 9.75 might require a bit more fluid that's the only difference.

@@MeAndCarKeys I have an 8.8 on my 2.7. The 8.8s have 2 radius detents in them, and I think that's what you have. It's a great walk through video and irrelevant if your not changing the diff cover. I put a pps cover on so I'll be more likely to change oil when I'm supposed to.
