Don't forget to crack the fill plug BEFORE you take the diff covers off if you're reusing the stock cover. You'll be up shit creek if you drain your oil and can't refill it due to a corroded fill plug.

Just had both diffs checked at 130k. Oil still ok so Ford's 150k is spot on. The transfer case needed new fluid tho. It was really dark. I'm surprised you didn't do your transfer case. My F150 is stock....
@BackroadDriver
@BackroadDriver Месяц назад
The diffs might still have fluid in them, but where was it going to go? Was it clean and still within spec? That being said, I'll be doing the transfer case and trans in a video soon. I already have parts on hand. Thanks for watching!

Ya me too, I changed my tranny fluid after I bought a pump for $90,00 and sucked it out. Used Utube to show the process. Tranny fluid had grey particles in it. Change tranny fluid and filter, immediately the shifting was smoother with no hard interruptions some times.

Mag Hytec has been on the market for years and is/was a top seller. I've seen a few videos showing the oil flow to bearings not being as consistent. Just check and change your fluid often. It's cheap and easy insurance.

I replaced my super 8.8 with B&M differential cover. Same awesome features your replacement has. I also used the lube locker gasket. However, I use nothing but Amsoil products, so I went with the severe gear lube.

What happened with the line across the top of the diff that was attached to studs? Thanks
@BackroadDriver
@BackroadDriver Месяц назад
I zip tied that line to the hardline above the diff. I might source some longer studs. These lines mount differently on almost every vehicle no matter which rear end you have. I assume that's why most companies don't include new studs, just new regular hardware. I wouldn't recommend trying to reuse the three factory studs. If you torque them down I feel it will strip the threads in the housing.

You can change the fluid at any mileage you choose. The point is to get it done early. I will have changed mine at least 3 times by the time 150K rolls around. Your truck could have a 9.75 or an 8.8 diff. I have a link to both types in the description. You'll need to figure out which one you have.

At $370.00 + TAX & whatever else, I like it, However I am an OEM Kinda GUY and at this price point I would "THINK" That this Company could at the very LEAST Include the "3" Stand Off Bolts that fit for the Brake Line Routing. (This is just me Guy's), But I just can't and won't Buy this for that Very Reason, And Just in case you have a TRUCK that is "Still The Under Factory"???? If you read their Disclosure, It "WILL VOID" your Factory Warranty??? (Hence, the Stand Off Bolts for the Brake Line Routing), Seem's rather Stupid to me that you can buy something to "Improve" upon the Look's AND The Function (Like Gayle Bank's) Unit, and it VOIDS your Warranty???? STUPID. Nice Piece, But a No Go for me. Sorry.
