Your better off shifting it manually instead of letting it search for tye right gear all the time .just like plowing big snow storms keep it on one gear and wind up the motor . Tow haul can help a little and also putting the shifts firmer with the programmer

So I never knew this but when you put the truck in 4 low it disables the ability to put the truck into tow haul. I'm going to need to contact SCT tuners about this and see what I can do about a custom tune to put in my lifewire TS+

150-180 trans temo is normal, up to 220 degrees is fine. up to 250 for 30mins 30mins max. between 5-230 the gauge stays the smae at 250 is when it moves to yellow and red at 280.

I like what you've done with your truck, you have balls for not re gearing! My hats off to ya, A steering ram assist is the right idea. I have my d60s geared as low as they can go and keeping a thick gear set, 5.38 but my 02 f 250 is a gas 5.4 If I ever get my truck built maybe we could have a deisel/gas shoot-out, ha! Thanks for the fun videos!

Gears are something we will be doing. I know we are pushing it hard with out them. You get that truck of your built and are up around this way, we will need to do some wheeling.

Take a look at Lee power steering. They have a Saginaw pump replacement. Lee can also port the hydroboost. I also have a Redhead steering box and they recommended a company outa Texas that ports for them and also has a ram setup as well. PSC has a very nice bolt in kit for the ram as well. Mounts to the front cover bolts. I blew a tire at 80 and the truck never pulled. I also added an additional power steering cooler. Look at Mishimoto they offer a massive trans cooler. It’s a direct replacement.

I have an 01 f250, 7.3l/ZF6 on 8" leafs/long shackle on 365/85/20 Michelin XLZs and I've had a PSC hydro assist system on it for many years. eventually the box started leaking and the nipple on the back of the pump broke. I switched to RedHead steering box and had the PSC pump repaired.

If you go full hydro you wont be able to steer if your pump goes out or you blow a line I'd run hydro assist for sure. I am excited to see more content on the stupid duty!

Adam I am loving the Stupid Duty. You're doing it right. Trial runs is the only way to know what you need. I'm really surprised you didn't build the 500.00 Bronco into a trail rig. That would have been bad ass. I'm kinda partial to the 78-79 Broncos.

I’d think about putting some lower gears in the axles to help take some stress off the transmission. I’d like to see this truck sitting next to my 04 on 38’s, I’m sure it’d make mine look like it’s stock LOL.

Dude. we really do need some better shocks. I'm not knocking on the rough country lift because its doing what its meant to do and it was a low budget lift. but the shocks don't help absorb much.

I would most definitely upgrade your axles don’t bother just putting new gears in your stock axles because your stock axles is just gone go out anyways especially with how you drive it it’s not gone be able to take all that stress on them 24/7 with all the off-roading your doing💯👍🏽👍🏽

Those tires are going to be a very expensive exercise in finding all the weak links in that truck. Lucky for you I'm afraid they are way too stiff to get much traction. I saw the transmission coming faster than Nastrodomus but tie rods, axle shafts, ring and pinions are in your future. The cheapest route is to build it so u joints are your weakness. They're cheap and fixable on the trail. May as well order Rockwell's next but I've seen 44s break the stock axles with less torque than you've got so break out 50 grand or so for a start.

Yeah to reduce most of the stress that the truck has I believe military axles would be the best upgrade for all the components, but everything costs money and I'm still on a budget.

Trans temp of 170-210F is nothing to worry about. Above 240F bad things happen. Over cooling trans fluid is a real thing and can be just as bad as overheating the fluid. I’d be more concerned with the engines egt’s. Sounds like the engine is lugged down when trying to spin those tires.

I use to work for frontier exploration on all our trucks we had 3 inch tube that went from front bumper and followed the wheelwells down below door then down the box to rear wheelwellls then to back bumper, it was there so when we went through the forest the tree didn't damage the body of the truck they worked great, so a company has come up with that idea.

Is your truck 6.0 or 7.3, I have the 7.3 with a B&D tranny deep pan underneath 27 quarts it holds, I updated to a better Aluminum radiator with a bigger oil cooler out front and intercooler all from molimocher and fill tank all for 1799.00 might want to look into them, plus my 7.3 turbo powerstoke pushes out 440 horses 1200 pounds of torque, with edge tunner 680 horses and 1700 of torque , have fun

Its a 6.0 truck. We have a SCT Live Wire TS+ on it and im only running a 50hp tune. Motor is stock outside of doing a proper bulletproof. As for the transmission I think a larger pan maybe in order. The extra lines and the cool its self adds some more fluid but not enough for sustained wheeling. Ill look up and see what options they have for my transmission.

Just out of curiosity how much air pressure are you running in those tires? Those things are designed for trucks that haul tons of weight kind of curious just how low you have taken the pressure with such a light load on them.

Steven, I have not got pulled over yet lol. So to be 100% street legal it needs mud flaps, fenders that cover the tread, and headlights below 54" for the state of Oregon.

Maybe I missed it but did you have to roll the fenders at all? I run 26x15.50x40 on my F350 and it scraped constantly until I rolled it a bit. Those tires are massive id imagine you had to do something to fit them in there so well.

We cut a lot of the fenders out and we are currently notching the cab as well because we still have some rub points. This is not a option for everyone to do that.

@@PaperBeatsRock If you put longer shackles in the front with the stock spring hanger it will move your front axle forward a bit to help clear the cab. I clear 365/85/20s with an 8" spring and shackle from a leveling kit and bushwhacker cut out flares.

Looking good. Best thing is to call the steering box manufacturer they have experience with what your doing and can give you suggestions on how to make sure that pig is happy. I would also make sure you have a separate power steering cooler as well. Bad ass content just makes me wanna wheel when I watch these thanks for being a oregon guy also let’s me find more area to screw off with

@@PaperBeatsRock I definitely lab on it. I’m heading down to Winston oregon to fix my sisters car. Adding a power steering would be awesome. Also check your rpm’s while your wheeling that guy. Mechanical is better if you stay higher rps but if you tend to stay a little lower mostly electric is a stinger air flow. I have not changed my gears yet. Its something that we are looking at doing but budget is always the struggle. I did just pick up a hydro assist steering set up. I'm trying to debate if I should do gears or just spend a little extra and get some military axles.

Another thing is your ideas for the tranny cooler deffantly get that out from under the truck being from north florida I know if your going in mud that thing will be a pain to clean we run all rads in the bed of are truck's down here

For sure that is something we have talked about. Here in Oregon most of the time our mud is not as deep as what you all got. I do wonder what do you all do to protect your cooler from mud getting throwing on to it?

@@PaperBeatsRock shroud's build the rad support in the bed and put a bent peice of sheet metal on top to form sort of a arrow shape. Keep the rad straight up and down it all depends on the guy doing the work we have all tried many ways that's just one style that we had good luck withaybe some time you should take a trip down to the mud event's in the south you would really enjoy it

180* is nothing. Normal operating temps are 60-80* above ambient. Set your warning light to 210*, pull over and let it cool at 220*.

I have it set at 180 because I don't always catch it when it starts going off and also I have had it sky rocket pretty fast up to the 220 mark just a minute or so after 180. Just depends on how hard I'm pushing it.

Our wheels have 4" of back spacing and we are running 3" spacers. But we still rub in a few spots

Yeah Rock Crawler, we need to do something bad. With the brakes being hydro boost it was hell coming off the mount with mostly manual brakes.

Check out the Chevy pumps, they are much better than ford's, I know I got a f250 powerstroke also, my power steering pump whines all the time drives me crazy when I can hear it over the diesel, I don't have huge tires like your running mine are 285X75X16 nothing huge, but that pump is junk I'm checking into the Chevy pump it's spose to be much better

Planetary is a gear system with a larger gear with smaller gears that turn a central gear. The benefit is providing high power density in the same size as a standard gear.
