Happiness is one of the best J-pop groups. The Happiness members were also part of supergroup called e-girls (disbanded in 2021 Christmas Goodbye concert). Other great J-Pop are FEMM (disbanded last year after a decade), Perfume and FAKY, especially their older songs. They state they are based in US, but most of their posts are all from Japan as majority are also models, so I doubt they actually live there. Sayaka is also an entrepreneur. She is my fav.

this style of j pop groups hasn't been popular like it used to be in the 90s to y2k when more sexy/cool looking hip hop rnb and euro house music were the mainstream in Japan but they still existed all this time, whick k pop basically copied the style from. LDH and AVEX are these agencies and they weren't called idols in Japan but just music artists (focused on music and performance side instead of innocent appearance and immature average talents often asked by anime otaku fans). But because of the rise of social media and the recent fall of biased jp media outlets and idol industrys scandals/corruptions, young generations in Japan started to notice these groups in their own country whom never been featured by their big media before. For international fans it's almost impossible to come across with unknown groups in Japan especially when Japan won't promote even major idol groups much globally but instead gatekeeping via strict copyright laws. You know why AVEX decided to promote XG through k pop platforms back in 2016-2017 and such artists like Psychic Fever and other Exile Tribe groups from LDH had to base in Southeast Asia. Now that young generations found these non idol groups the big media outlets are now kind of forced to feature them on their platforms. I personally never expected groups especially boy groups like BE:FIRST on JP music shows a few years ago when Johnny Kitagawa was still alive
It's a shame really. It's like this in all Eastern music industries. I am not sure if it's the mentality of the CEO's of these companies that want to constrain themselves to "the old ways" or not keep up to date with the world music economy and follow popular trends. I feel like at least speaking for myself as an Asian American, I am dying to find good music not from the West. RU-vid is literally the only place that I can learn and discover new groups/ artists outside of Twitter(X). That's why, I hope that I can grow my channel big enough that I can make a difference so that I can help promote music and artists not known to the larger part of the world that consumes music.
