Just made an account and when signing up it states you have access to all material including prep, tests, and videos. However once you have your account tests and maybe other features (not through the whole course yet) are behind a $97 paywall. Making an account and now having my email seems to grant you nothing more than what you can already find on YT. Seems misleading to me.
Hi @@Kurdain , I'd be happy to look up your account and see what is going on. Please email me with the email you used to sign up at david@sdaltitude.com
Grateful I passed with a 87% score. The questions on stall speed of fixed wing aircraft caught me off guard as I did not study much of that content in the material I used to study. I recommend reading through the faa study guide document itself. I studied this video and Tony Northrups material.
Made it to the METAR reports before I was done for the day. I’m glad I pushed to that point cause it would have been brutal to start with that tomorrow.
Just passed my part 107 with a 90% today! As an FYI, I watched this video, Tony & Chelsea Northrup's "FREE Drone Certification Study Guide: FAA Part 107 sUAS Test" and took a practice exam I found online. By far the easiest exam I've ever taken. Total studying including practice exam, watching the videos in 2 times speed ~ roughly 4 hrs the night before the exam. The only thing I would have done differently would be to look up recent changes with remote ID as that wasn't really covered in either 2 videos. Don't stress on this exam, like 75% of the questions were extremely straightforward. I spent a total of 35 minutes on the exam, trust your gut and watch how they give you the answer (it's often very easy to eliminate the wrong choice and there were times when just by the answer you already know the correct one). The sectional chart was probably the hardest part of the exam but luckily they do give you the book/legends so use that to your advantage and you can always come back to them if they're taking too much time :D. Best of luck everyone!
Thank you for your comment!!! I'm gonna have the exam in 2 weeks and I will do my best to pass. Question for you, can you use the book during the exam? I already downloaded the pdf and it seems pretty big with many pages.
Hello, while it's not the approach we would recommend, we are glad you made it there safely and that our content helped you pass. Thanks for checking our video out.
@@seanpeavideo The information in our review is for the current exam. We, of course, encourage everyone to take our course, which includes quizzes, flashcards, and 5 practice exams, if they really want to be fully prepared.
@@Pnoysneakerhead24 I googled part-107 free practice tests and attempted those to see how much I was scoring on average. Tony Northrup’s video was posted I think 5-ish years ago, it’s amazing but little outdated. This video was amazing.
Watched this twice and the Tony Northrup video, along with some skimming of a few other resources. I don't think I've passed a test in 10 years, but this majorly helped me pass the Part 107. Thank you so much!
I am taking my exam today and hope that listening to this plus doing practice exams online will help me get a passing score. I am bad at weather and meteorology. Metar i got down finally for the most part. Update: passed with 90% today Oct, 18 1400

Just passed my part 107 today with an 87%, I used this video and the one by Tony Northrup, as well as various practice tests. These videos give you a great understanding of the basics, however you will probably still need to do some studying on your own when it comes to newer material like night operations, flying over people, and something that I saw today which was remote ID!! The video by Pilot Institute explaining remote ID is a great supplement. And finally the best practice test I can recommend is the one by King Schools, there's also the official faa practice test(which is slightly outdated), and the one mentioned in the study guide from tony's video. Good luck to those studying, and don't memorize the practice test questions because they were all re-worded for the test
@@MrRaja if I could give you any advice it would be to watch more supplemental videos on RU-vid, and also continue to take the practice exam offered by kings school until you can confidently get above 80%, because the real exam will not treat you kindly if you don’t know your stuff
@@LushPop I am just struggling with Airport Signs and Lingo (runway this runway that) recently struggled with METAR but now just able to read it. Idk if we will ever use it as drone pilots. But yeah i keep getting 75% or less score on Kings Practice Exam. I am just struggling hard with Weather and Airport signs and runway logic and Supplement charts.
@@MrRaja I didn’t see a whole lot of runway logic on my exam, nor did I much of any airport signage questions. But you will definitely want to make sure you’re 100% on weather and reading METAR reports, and absolutely 100% on your supplemental charts because that takes up a good portion of the test. Make sure you also can read latitude and longitude on your supplemental charts
@@LushPop I did the part 107 exam today. I passed with 90%. ☺️ Today is a great day. Just gotta wait on my replacement of DJI Mini 2 so i can start shooting videos and pictures and upload everywhere 🤪
Just a correction for ya, at 1:03 you compare cold air with warm air but you've got it flipped. Cool air is actually denser and results in better flying conditions than hot air. temp increase -> density altitude increase
Half way through, and just want to comment... This is the most comprehensive free video I've found. This stuff isn't a blast to learn, but given the necessity of it this is a great video to cover the required info. Thanks for all the work you did for this!
@@sleepingbearffg5008 Improper drone usage can shut down aircraft on wildland fire operations and put firefighters in danger, for starters. It could also endanger flight crews on medical missions. Regulation is necessary for the safety and efficacy of air operations.
I just barely passed with a %70 but I still passed. Thank you for the video as this was my primary study source. Only advice I’d give it to really get down the sectional charts, I barely passed primarily because a large amount of the test was those charts which I had not focused on as much as I should have.
Thanks for the feedback! There are over 13 versions of the exam - so sometimes you get stuck with a charts heavy one. Glad you pulled through though! 🚀
This was the first and last video I watched before taking my test. I had this video playing out loud in the office while waiting to walk in the test room.I passed with an 87% with no prior knowledge and less than a week of studying. Thank you so much for the video and information. The way you broke it up in searchable segments is perfect! I watched this video and some other creator's videos on 1.5x speed over and over; while taking some notes. 🤣
I just passed my exam with 87%. I want to thank you Brandon and your team, this is one of the best training courses I’ve been enrolled in so far. It was very well organized, I’ve followed the entire course for about 2 hours a day for the last 2 weeks. I also followed the FAA resources, but most of the information needed to past the exam was in this amazing course. And on top of that it was FREE! Unbelievable, after this, I would love to give millions likes to support you guys. People looking into pass this exam absolutely need to follow this course. If you want to become a remote pilot you’ll need to learn how to comply with the law and some other very important things to fly safely, it’s not about to try to find the answers and memorize them. At the end is for our safety and your pocket! Again, Thank you very much ALTITUDE TEAM!
WOW, Martin! Congratulations on the 87% passing score!! That is fantastic to hear. The Operations Over People rule became effective on April 21, 2021. Drone pilots operating under Part 107 may fly at night, over people and moving vehicles without a waiver as long as they meet the requirements defined in the rule. Airspace authorizations are still required for night operations in controlled airspace under 400 feet. @Altitude maybe put in description this new change?
Great video without the snarky comments about why the FAA wants us to know certain details. You're a pilot flying around with other pilots- it matters and should be taken seriously.
I agree that flying should be taken seriously in order to keep others safe, but to be fair, I think that the same course should be required for recreation flight as well. Otherwise, it does beg the question, why is some of this information only relevant for commercial work when the difference between most recreational and commercial flights is that the commercial flight involves a payment?
Just took this 4/19/21- I watched all the major videos on youtube to study as well as some practice tests. I passed with an 82% BUT I definitely got lucky and guessed on like 20 questions. There was a lot of material that I was not prepared for. I thought this test was pretty difficult and thought I was going to fail half way through it. Huge relief when they gave me my score.
A person flying a drone and driving a car simultaneously doesn't sound dangerous, it sounds impossible lol. Of course you could use waypoints or things like that, but manually operating both at once sounds wild
Everything covered in this course video helped me a lot! I did all the practice exam questions, quizzes and flash cards and took my exam last thursday and passed with 92%. Thanks! :O)
Enrolled in the Altitude University Part 107 exam course...very helpful and great content...sample exams with additional benefit of explanation of answers to questions; Took Part 107 test today...Passed with 95...very happy with results.
Congrats, that's awesome! What a great score. We are so happy to share in your success and wish you the best in your career as a commercial drone pilot!
You have multiple mistakes in your videos: TAF means Terminal Aerial Forecast (which means expected weather for the day) METAR and SPECI you fail to identify the differences which is important, As for airspace, class E is an airport without an operating control tower whereas Class D, C, B are airports with operating towers, Class A is positive controlled airspace typically FL180 and above. It should be noted that a Class D airspace becomes Class E when the tower is not open.
Wanna thank y’all man!!💪🏿💪🏿just got done with my part 107 test and passed!! I started this vid and all the others last Thursday, and went hard on the quizlets. UPDATE FOR NIGHT - As of April 2021, sAUS operators may fly at night. That applies to both rec and part 107 flyers. FAA Rules for sUAS Flight at Night As of April 21, 2021, the FAA-issued Operations Over People rule allows all drone pilots to fly at night, including civil twilight, without a waiver. As a drone pilot, you must: Be a Part 107 FAA-certified Remote Pilot. Existing pilots must complete free online recurrent training. The Part 107 exam for new pilots includes night flight questions. Mark and register your drone. Equip your drone with anti-collision lighting visible for at least three statute miles with a flash rate sufficient to avoid collision while mounted on top of the aircraft and to be seen from above when in flight. Hold valid airspace authorization through FAA Drone Zone or an LAANC service supplier.
I've seen a few different acronym definitions for METAR; like Meteorological Aerodrome Report, or Meteorological Terminal Air Report, or like in this video Meteorological Terminal Aviation Weather Report. Are these all correct?
@@altitudeuniversity Thank you, I appreciate it! I see that this video was created back in 2020, would you know if there have been any updates to the FAA's Part 107 exam which are not included in your video?
The FAA occasionally updates the information needed to become a commercial drone pilot. Some changes over the last few years involve night flight operations, flying over people, and remote ID. Our newer content has videos on these topics and more. Our course is updated when the FAA makes a change. If you would like to really make sure you are up on all the latest content check out our course :) www.altitude-university/enroll

Let me know if this is correct, all drones weighing MORE THAN .55lbs must be registered. (Any drone equal to .55lbs or less and used for recreational purposes are exempt) Right?
Correct! Additionally, the Mavic Mini (for example) weighs 249 grams which makes it exempt from this rule. (Less than .55lbs) You do not need to register this drone if you are flying recreationally. However, since you’ll be flying drones commercially - you’ll need to register it. That’s one of the only caveats. Hope this helps! 😃
Amazing video as I'm studying for my part 107! I read the AC 107-2A in my studies and found a correction at 58:20. In appendix B, section 3 about the weather briefings, "While Flight Service does offer a telephone-based service, it is intended for manned aircraft pilots only."
I had a youtuber friend ask me if I can make drone footage for them, as a certified pilot. my guess is that even though the footage would be flown by me, that they still can't use the dang footage since they are not certified? am I understanding that correctly ?
It’s no different than if I did (as a licensed remote pilot) some video for a realtor friend, and it doesn’t matter if I charged or not, he can utilize the footage to help with the sale of a property. (The video was performed by a licensed pilot)
The FAA has its head up its ass on a lot of the 107 test questions, and a huge amount of pilots will NEVER have to know any of it. Instead of putting ALL the stuff into the test that will affect you on a daily basis they throw stuff in that most will not use, not need to know, and they in turn dont put stuff in that you NEED to know, every single day. Including personal property, private property and protections for yourself as a pilot against people that are not certified nor trained.
Or you can get the unlocking certificate because no one tells you what you can’t or can’t do in the sky. Imagine a group of people thinking they can just control a piece of plastic flying in the air, but they can attach missiles to plane and bomb civilians and children? Lol, the irony I could provide…

I’m thinking of getting a remote pilot certificate. When I get this certification, will I need authorization in order to do rooftop inspections within 5 miles of class C airspace which is SFC/21 msl? Thanks
If it’s in unregulated class G airspace then yes you can. Class G can be under the floor of class C airspace if the outer shelf of the airspace only goes down to 4000ft. Make sure the class C part you’d be flying under is the outer part of that upside down wedding cake and look at the sectional chart to make sure that the class C airspace isn’t extending from the surface. Otherwise yes you have to request permission from ATC.
