Fresh, fun and comfortable! When women say they can't wait to change out of an outfit to get comfortable, I would like to ask them why they own uncomfortable outfits! Everything I own is comfy and that doesn't mean sloppy. Love the dress and all your videos.
Thanks Viv. You're so inspiring. Love the way you guide us with your instructions. You increase my confidence to sew. Keep these videos coming. So enjoyable; can hardly wait to see what you are sewing next.
That neckline treatment is fantastic! What a wonderful way to add interest to a plain fabric! And thank you for showing the inside of the dress and your technique for applying the hem tape. That was super helpful and informational for me! I appreciate seeing different ways to style garments as I am definitely not a natural when it comes to that! I love your layered look, and can we all appreciate how you just picked up a pattern and quickly made what you needed to go with the dress?! You’re awesome!! 💜 I’m so happy you squeezed in a video with it being the busy Christmas season. Merry Christmas, Viv! 🎄
What fun is this ,excellent video today.Big wishes for a wonderful Christmas season from snowy and cold Alberta Canada.Minus 20degrees with sunshine.Stay well and take care.
Love the layers idea for this dress. Versatile and you could add a bold color cardigan sweater if needed. You can also make the hem a wide ruffle if ya wanted!
You always make me smile. Your dress is awesome. The finish on the neckline will keep it from stretching, The hem tape makes it quick to hem and deeper hem gives it added weight to keep it from turning up while wearing. Well thought out and as always a real pleasure to see you. If this is your finally for the year may you have a Blessed holiday season.
This was a great video - really a bit different than the normal makes for a month! And what a versatile garment! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! Really hope 2022 is a much easier year for all of us! Bless you - you and your channel are such a blessing to me and so many others! I do appreciate all the time and effort you put into these videos! 🙏🏻❤️🙏🏻
I love that is a simple dress but you gave it a pop with the neck band and it’s versatile. I’m not big on turtle necks but it looked really cute with it.
I love the dress, very simple very confortable because is cotton and the iron tape is interesting...Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you and your family!
Really appreciated all your sewing tips today. The heather gray fabric looked great...and when you said you'd sleep in it, I was sold ! I've been retired for 3 years and my plan was to just wear PJs all day I could open the front door in and no one would know they were PJs ! This dress would fit right in ! Looking forward to your December "makes"...happy holidays, VivMom!!! Nancy in Mobile.
I have a couple of knit dresses I wear in the summer ...and when the cold weather of winter comes and the down comforters and quilts come out, they become nightgowns
Wow Viv this is a great video. I love the fabric and the neckline is so awesome. I thought you had a shirt underneath until you told us that it was a different fabric for the neckband. What a great dress and a great way you came up with the different ways to style it. Thanks. I am going to check out the fabric. It does look so comfy.
Happy Christmas and New Year too!!. 🥰 Soft, comfortable, I love 100%cotton 😘 sounds perfect for a nightgown too! I do like the beefy cottons for other garments, but definitely there is a place for a softer cotton jersey. As always Vivmom, thank you……your videos have really helped me get thru our pandemic times…..almost 2 years now, wow! In any case thank you, it must be hard to keep up with everything, but , you did it!! 💜❤️💜
I've been so busy today working on my Christmas projects that I did not see this earlier today! I was thinking about you again wondering what you were up to...maybe another make video and sure enough you did it again!!! Love your dress! Love the fabric! I must buy some for sure. Nice to get the okay from you! Yay!!!🤗👍😀
Hi Vivmom Sews! Just wanted to say that I really enjoy your videos and I appreciate the detail you go into when you tell us about your fabric and pattern finds - thank you! Cheers! ~Angela
I love how it looks layered with the black. BEAUTIFUL!! Merry Christmas! We are now in full chaos mode! Have a very Festive Season, Viv. Love to you and ALL your family!
I love it. I have some plain cotton knit fabric and you gave me inspiration for how to use it to. I am delighted by this idea. Thank you so much Viv! Keep these brilliant idea coming.
Classic, soft heathered grey cotton knit, easy sew dress with the subtle wow factor neckline=perfect make!! Love everything about this Fabricista make, your sewing tips, and versatile styling. Viv, I wish you and your beautiful family a very Merry Christmas and many blessings in the new year!
I love when you can wear things with multiple uses, especially as a nightgown 😉 that hem tape is awesome! I've never seen it before. I've used the one that is used in a seam to sew the pieces together (can't think of the name?) But that's really awesome 😊 thank you for showing it!
Wow loved your dress / tunic . I know it's busy during Christmas 🎄 but are we going to see more before the end of the month? Merry Christmas . Fan of yours
You made the turtleneck too??? Wow!!! The 2 pieces together look great!! And that small bit of material on your neckline looks great!! Merry Christmas Vivmom!!! Too your family as well!!!
Wow did that turtle neck up your game. I had bought some of this fabric a while back when it was a susan pick. Or is it a julies pick? Oh well you know what I mean. When I received it I was totally underwhelmed. But, you sure styled it cute with that black turtleneck. Guess I’m gonna have to rethink that heathered gray underwhelming fabric! Thanks for the idea on that sticky Hem Tape, never knew that stuff existed. I own that Lacey kind of hem tape but this is way better. You did look fabulous in that outfit!
Great review of both fabric and pattern Viv. You can’t go wrong with a jersey dress and I loved the idea of the neckband in a patterned challis. Hope you have a brilliant Christmas and a Happy 2022. X
Cute styling for the grey knit dress Vivmom! If you're a fan of scarves and you have extra fabric you could consider making a scarf form the challis to add to your outfit. Hoping we can talk soon. I'd love to have you as a guest on my show in 2022 :-)
Viv, you are so 100% right, nothing like 100% cotton, that is about the only fabric I purchase, I do buy linen and wool, but hardly ever buy polyester, I get too hot! I've tried many times to just try something new and it just does not work. Your dress is wonderful because it screams comfort! QUESTION for you. Do you have and/or do you use a cover stitch machine, if so what kind?
All I could think when I saw the hem tape was the scream of my best friend. As a dry cleaner, she HATES hem tape because the cleaning solution dissolves it and leaves a gummy residue. If you’re using it on cotton and a garment that will never see the inside of a dry cleaners, more power to you.
YAYYY! I jumped on this right away this time and got that knit--I actually need a similar workhorse item--a turtleneck I can layer under other items. But that led me to buy 4 MORE similar knits but different colors! Great video Viv! Merry Christmas to you and yours!
Tried hem tape for years and have never had any luck with it. Once the garment is washed and dried the tape comes off. Let us know how yours handles laundry. Love your dress. Since retiring that's been my style although I've also jumped to v necklines or scooped due to a port they put in my chest for all the blood draws/infusions.
Hi Vivmom! We are are headed to Gettysburg, and have time tomorrow to stop at….. FABRICMART! I am so excited! That being said, any recommendations on where we might grab lunch? Thank you!
VivMom, is everything okay with you? Concerned because you have been MIA, and that’s not like you. Hope all is well with you. Miss your presence. Looking forward to seeing your creative works soon.🙏🏽😍
I haven’t sewn it down. I’ll see how it goes with the first wash - I prewashed the fabric, of course, but haven’t washed the dress yet. Actually I think a double row of top stitching would look cute!
