Oh my gosh, I had a great laugh when you showed the Simplicity tshirt fail. No, definitely can’t wear that!!! 😂 Everything else looks beautiful on you. The quality of your sewing is top notch!! Thank you for showing all your makes.
Well, I did it. After finding you on RU-vid and binge watching several videos I jumped in and using some yard sale fabric proceeded to make a dress. My first mistake was the pattern I picked. It was a high waist and it seems the girls have migrated south so they ended up well below the intended placement. Soooo disappointed. Hopefully my 40 something year old daughter will be able and willing to wear it. Licking my wounds and summoning courage to try again. Thanks for your inspiration.
@@sueours8150 Yes!! You did it!! It fell a little short of your vision, but that’s par for the course. You’ll do it again. Because that’s what we do. And the act of creating is worthy, good for the mind, good for the soul. Onward!💕
@@sueours8150 I recommend a visit in person. To my dismay, they’ve completely overhauled and changed the website and I am …probably finished shopping there online. (That’s actually a blessing in disguise, I know!)
@@detroitwillwinsuperbowl59 That fabric is 100% cotton sold at Joann, as part of their premium novelty cotton. A while back they had quite a selection with the vintage Simplicity art. I bought several cuts, only to realize that it’s kind of hard to use for apparel! I mean, one dress is plenty. But I will say it’s beautiful quality, cotton from Japan. I believe I paid $7/yard. Not sure if it is still in stock, but may be worth a trip or look at their website. Thanks for watching!🌼
I love all your 60's dresses, they look so good on you ! I think you are so beautiful, you look so much like Barbara Eden 🤎I have a couple of yards of a beautiful fabric perfect for a 60's dress, thank you for the fashion show!
@@sueours8150 Hi Sue, there are lots of videos on YT showing this technique; I will link you to one below. The major difference is that there is no casing to feed the elastic through. The elastic is sewn to the top of the waistband and then turned down and secured. If this video doesn’t provide enough clarity, try a couple others, because it really is a cool process. Thanks for watching! m.ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-kJSqTcH_Nb4.html
@@sueours8150 I talk about buying fabric in the linked video below. I do not always know exactly which pattern I’ll be using but I almost always know the broad strokes of a project, whether it’ll be a skirt or jacket, etc. And we are always free to change our minds, because there *can* be surprises with ordering online. As far as fabric quantity goes when I purchase, I use a loose template of 1-2 yards for tops, 2.5 yards for pants, 3 yards for button shirts, dresses or light jackets, 4 yards for voluminous midi dresses or coats, 5 yards if I want multiple pieces from a certain fabric. That’s a LOOSE template, because of course fabric varies in width, and a cut of knit that’s 70” wide (I’ve seen them!) would make way more than one top if I bought two yards. Here’s the fabric video, and as always thanks for watching!😃 m.ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-PM1EKzJcZIA.html&pp=ygUpdml2bW9tIHdoZW4geW91IGtub3cgbm90aGluZyBhYm91dCBmYWJyaWM%3D
Hi Vivmom I was wondering if you seen the video Love notions sewing patterns ? I was surprised how to make a back adjustments, the size different might needs adjustment to . Enjoy your videos Loral
You gave me a heart attack at..."I'm selling all fabric and giving away...." Noooooo never. So, glad you were kidding. Love seeing your makes no matter what. And I loved even the ones you didn't like. ❤
Thank you for sharing. Love your perseverance. You do look great in blue. I really like the New Look 6413 dress on you and the S8993 tee in the ITY knit.
Red and black, pink and blue blouse both very pretty. Color block blouse I would be inclined to cover up the checked fabric with more of the on below. Print dress that you added the belt to struck me as nice enough for travel.
As a beginner sewist in 🇨🇦 I go the resourceful route, cheap/free pattern downloads, fabric from clearance bins and charity shops. I’ve learned to resize patterns. Now that I’ve made a few garments I’m buying big 4 patterns, styles I normally wear. Concentrating on building core wardrobe. In this country it’s very difficult to get many patterns at reasonable prices. Our local deadstock fabric retailers offer great discounts.
I absolutely love, love, love the blue dress. The rich color makes it seem more formal but it looks stunning on you. Imagine it in a light cotton floral...pretty!
Hi, Vic! RU-vid sent me your channel and I’ve watched and enjoyed several of your earliest videos. You are so real! I have a suggestion for why why why fabrics. Save them in a special box for future grandchildren to play with. This red would make a great super hero cape! You wouldn’t even have to sew it. Just clip two corners together. Now, back to binging! Sewing vicariously. You do all the work, LOL.
That blue dress is all that. The Wyndom fabric does not go with other fabrics on the top. I love the green fabric. It looks like William Morris fabric.
It’s great to see you again. Sorry this month was a struggle sewing for yourself. I agree with others, I liked the blue dress on you. Yes, that was a style used for bridesmaids dresses then, but that was what the majority of dresses looked like at the time. I have 2 that I made back then, and had kept them because they turned out gorgeous and I had used more casual material and they are still favourites. Hope next month is a total win. ❤❤
Hi Viv, if you have any remnants of the (head lights tshirt😅), you could put a couple of patch pockets there over the white stars using the part of the fabric that doesn't have the star. ? Just a thought,... it has such pretty colors!
❤ thanks for a great video! Super helpful. I’ve cut a simple top (very similar color woven fabric). Free PDF pattern (no neck band piece, just front and back pieces cut on fold. Plan to attach store bought bias binding to the neck. Plan to add 4 rows of shirring to each sleeve. As a beginner I bought cheap deadstock fabric. Just tryjng techniques, sewing slowly. Having fun. If it’s good enough to wear, bonus!!! ❤ 🇨🇦
I love your channel! Love you’re precious sense of humor! Your sewing suggestions are great! Love your pattern choices. Love the way you video yourself. I like the way you give a closeup of the pattern at the beginning and at the end. Anyway I love the whole thing. I am binge watching and learning so much!! Now I’m going to go see!!
You made so many outfits! The blue dress looks beautiful on you, I do hope you make it again in a flowery print. I love everything you made, my favorites are the Susan Monaco knit top, the pink top with the boarder print, the simplicity pattern fabric shift, the brown and beige leaf print dress with the tie belt- too many to mention individually. I am trying to speed up my sewing so I will accomplish more, congratulations for all that you accomplished. 🩵🩵🩵
The T with the ? Pattern placement, Can you wear it backwards, put the V in the back? I do that sometimes with V neck tees! It’s a fun fabric, shame to waste it!!!
