51:45 Eye see what you did there with the new panel. Now it's a live Mosquito instead of a dead one. 😉 (Edit: I wrote this comment as I was watching the video and before you mentioned it.)
I recently lost my dad, we used to build cars together too. I love watching you and your dad doing this. It's going amazing look forward to the next episode
I’m surprised you don’t make a wheel-type handle for the bead roller. More control and easier to use. I’d be happy to contribute a couple tools for the project. What’s the best way to get them to you?
55:39 northeast USAmerican, Never heard that phrase before. Also bonneville isnt in the desert because its hot, its in the desert because it IS the desert. They typically run in the early morning when its cooler anyway, because the more power from better cooling and colder air offsets any aero advantages of hotter air.
Here in western Kentucky ive used the term dog leg. Ship fitting sometimes we would cut a dog leg to begin hanging steel then cut in then start fitting things. I really appreciate watching yall two working work on this creation together. I would have loved to do something similar with my dad. I appreciate the videos blessings to you and yours. Thanks fellas
Great engineering guys. And you unintentionally gave the car a face. The new side panels along with the bottom panels look like the shark faces people painted on WW2 planes. Nice
Air resistance squares with speed not cubes. So if you double your speed the air resistance goes up by a factor of 4. The power required goes up by 8 though (i.e. cubed) as you need 4 times the power to overcome the air resistance and also twice the power to go twice as fast.
You are of course correct and ive posted a correction in the comments giving you a shout out. These videos are unscripted and I usually fact check them in the edit but I missed this one so I just wanted to thank you
I live in Texas USA and have lived and worked all over the English speaking world, I have never heard the phrase "cut like a dogs back leg" until this video. But I will use it in the future. I need a better solution for my Europa windshield wipers, looking forward to see what you come up with.
... I'm a Englander, hugs from the UK. If you Don't know them already ,look up Banks Europa, here in the UK. (builders of turn key cars etc, europa's, all the generations!, chassis etc). 🇬🇧🇺🇲
I saw a vid on a drag car build where they put rubber tabs on strategic parts of the roll cage so the outer sheet metal don’t flop around at high speed
Really enjoy the reasoning behind how everything is affected when you make changes. Your discussions of past projects and history is great and helps us learn more about the both of you. Don't stop. Work will happen but the interaction between you is great. The car is important but doing it together is most important, especially with a certain camera person involved.
What i would like to receive in return for being a patreon is the experience of working with you guys. Like being actually there fora a weekend or something, helping you with what i can. So that's it, from time to time, a random pick of one of your subscribers to share a bit of this awesome project. I am definitely up for it.
I think you should soon deal with the widening of the wheel arches as that will have the most impact on the looks, and will be for some elaborate connection details
Bicycle wheel spokes are never in compression with the exception of monocoque wheels as well as spoked car wheels the axle is suspended in the top half of the rim's
Great video, in my opininion this is one of your most interesting so far. Love the talking sessions. Regarding Patreon, all I would ask is that the lower tiers are not too expensive.
My 1977 MKI VW Sirocco had a single central wiper. Screen was somewhat similar too. Might be a motor worth considering if you haven't finalised on one. Quite a long arm too.
"It's the tiny little details that make things beautiful" he says......... While living in France.......... As in "France, the birthplace of the Impressionist art movement"....... 🤔 😁
I know what you are saying and I have heard the lexus story before too. I judt don't believe that the story reflects how that situation unfolded. They know the weight of that shell well before any tooling is made- I have cad at home that does it and I'm sure theirs is a hell of a lot more capable than that 😂
I believe that the Honda K20 is sometimes fitted with a water to oil cooler that sits between the engine block and the oil filter. The advantage is it warms the oil at startup. One disadvantage is if it leaks water may get into the oil.
@@fairthorpefanatik1700 I know this was a thing for rotary engines but K20s are excellent engines thermally, its part of why they turbo so well. In our application NA, pushing half the weight of an Ep3 its hugely under stressed so a small air to air oil cooler would just be peace of mind.
... If the case, are you using a conventional battery,or a lightweight race etc?. If so install a hermetically sealed electronic kill switch (I fitted one to my aw11 MR2 supercharger, with a lightweight battery) had a mechanical kill switch fail on me once. I know you like your wheels, but look into Japanese Watanabe RS alloy wheels, or forged te37s!.
