What I love about this channel is you haven't been bought out by a sponsor. I like scratch-built vehicle content but so many get ruined by being sponsored and relying on off-the-shelf answers.

I appreciate the passion for fabrication with which you and your father express building the Mosquito. I also build cars and motorcycles for myself and my own ideals. Wish my engineer/builder dad was still around to share time with. I enjoy your videos Oliver as we have similar philosophy behind our automotivations.

I confess, I came into the build a little way into it. I have gone back and watched a few of the earlier episodes, but not all. I have saved all of the build episodes to a play list for futures reference. I've emailed Oliver with some, hopefully helpful, information as I have owned an Acura RSX Type-S, since new, for almost 23 years and I've done a few mods to personalized the car to my taste. I am very pleased that in every case Oliver has responded to each email. I've not gotten that level of personal response from any other of the channels to which I subscribe. I look forward to watching the new episodes every Sunday morning. The level of attention to detail is commendable. Thanks, Oliver, for the hours of content.

I watch Superfast Matt every now and then, he always (mostly) says all hail to the algorithm. Iam saying all hail to the ingenuity and technical prowess that these guys are showing. The workmanship is astounding. Thank you for doing this. I really liked the historylesson and explanation of how you are thinking. You sad: Its really hard to make a fun video about suspensiongeometry. Does it have to be fun? I think people that watches your videos likes it anyway. I like your videos because they are interesting and constructive plus the relation that you two have together.

I think the wheels look great on your car. Revolution made a four spoke wheel that was similar.

On replicas: people make replicas because they cannot afford the real deal. To make an exact replica , as you describe would be all but impossible. A lot of the materials around from the pre-war era, are no longer available. or if they are rare prohibitively expensive. There is a guy in the UK who makes updated blower Bentley's. Superb engineering that looks the part, but is a fraction of a car that is out of the reach of all but the most wealthy. So long live the replica.

Big respect for doing it for yourself only, but there will be a long list of improvements you will see after the car is done. Maybe that will turn into an opportunity to build second car and gift it to your dad, he well deserved it 😎

What's up with those wheels on the stairs, I really like those. What else is priceless, is that you are building it together with your father. I'm a manual machinist, at a Blue Origin company and I'm building from scratch a Lotus 7 style car. By the way I have made another set of control arm in jig and it still distorted. I guess I had gaps between the parts, and that caused it to distort. I'm a beginner, never done anything like this.

Love your work guys, and really appreciate your design ethos. You’re building something truly unique, and are an inspiration to those of us who have a little imagination.

I am just the slightest bit envious of the pair of you. I would give the proverbial, arm and leg to blatantly copy what you're doing, with my Dad. Won't ever happen, but hopefully I'll get the chance with one of my children. Thanks for another good watch.

My father owned a 1964 Sunbeam Alpine with a removable steel hardtop. 4 speed manual with electric overdrive in 3rd and 4th gears. Fantastic beautiful car. British racing green paint. I miss it.

It was great watching you chat through your thought process and goals regarding wheel choice. ...And I say this specifically as I was doing much the same thing at the beginning of the year (in my case it was for a GTM Spyder). In short I think I nearly drove myself mad in the foolish hope of trying to find something that would actually look good, have the correct fitment and be as light as possible (I'm never going to make crazy power so I'm generally happier trying to remove weight when I can - and where better than wheels...). ...Plus it'd would have been lovely to ensure that, whatever I went with, they are period correct and British (like the GTM itself). It was probably an impossible hope to tick all the boxes. As a little background, I'm a game artist by trade, so aesthetics matter to me far more than they should and I think I found it frustrating that, for all the thousands of wheels out there, I wasn't finding anything that I thought would really match the car. So, I briefly looked at the costs involved in having custom wheels made. I say briefly as the cost was so stratospheric it was hilarious! (I honestly would have relished an excuse to design my own wheels and teach myself some skills like finite element analysis etc. along the way.) So, ruling out anything custom, I ended up going down an off-the-shelf vs. random-weird-obscure-wheel wormhole. Cutting this story down a bit, after a lot of effort, I didn't really get anywhere. So I ultimately did end up ordering some TE37s. Will they look right? I honestly don't know, but fingers crossed. They couldn't be further from what I would design if I was doing it myself (if designing to be cohesive) but contrasts can be a good thing too. Lets just hope for the best on that point. Are they Period correct? Yep. At least that is one thing from the wish list achieved. Would I have preferred a British wheel? Yes. Compromised here. Weight? Next to nothing without, hopefully, going too far the wrong way. Fingers crossed. Fitment? Getting the right PCD etc was never going to be something easily solved so I'm still, regrettably, going to need adapters despite the wheels being built to order. Price? Really bad. Extortionate. Yikes! ...If this car wasn't a long term project that is really important to me I could never justify spending this sort of money (I'd have been far more comfortable spending 25% of what these came too but, in the end, it did make sense for me and my current situation). In short, I value the car far beyond its market value and don't want to make compromises or do do anything to it that doesn't make it better. When will they show up? I ordered over New Year. They won't show up for a few months yet at a guess. ...At least I have a long list of things to fix before they arrive. Finally, could I have made my life easier? Possibly. If I could get some custom hubs (or at least the drive flanges) made then the whole process would have been much simpler and options would have opened up massively.

What is your current thinking on the gear knob. I really hope that you intend keeping it, or at least making another in wood. I think there should be at least one organic part in the car. By the way, this episode was very interesting. A good explanation of your design ethics. Thanks

Why would you seam seal before prepping the bare metal firsthand? All that work, and you overlooked a very important step.

Just tell people this isn't a bellybutton car, they will either get it or not.... I watch because it's a one off and don't currently have my own workspace

I'm ambivalent on the subject of replicas. I think there's a place for them, and there is something to be said for having all the mod cons and safety and performance that one can get with a replica without having to desecrate an original example as a "restomod" or whatever you want to call it. (As a side note, I'm also not a fan of "patina" - I think that's just people being unabashedly lazy.) On the other hand, there are a lot of "replicas" out there that really would have been better off as an original design. They really don't make an attempt to even look authentic, they just want to skip the effort of coming up with an original design and capitalize on someone else's effort and reputation. The issue being that by confining themselves to someone else's styling design, they end up with some very serious compromises (such as ergonomics, practicality and often even performance) that are completely unnecessary.

Shots fired at the replicas! My $.02, replicas have their place. Most people make replicas because they love the _look_ of a thing, just like how tribute/cover bands play music for an audience that loves the _songs_, not the band/people. But just like how a replica can be measurably better than the original in every mechanical way, a tribute/cover band can be better than the original because they're not bound to play just one band's music. They can put on a concert in the park and play all the hit songs of an era and provide a now unique experience for the audience not otherwise achieved. At the end of the day, while I agree that making a unique body for amazing chassis would be neat/cool, the more important thing in my mind is another person making a project in their garage. I don't always have to agree with it, but it's sure beats doing nothing. And also, it would be crime to go and ruin a lot of originals by updating their underlying structure, and so replicas open the door to the "what if" machine. And if that "what if", is what a replica provides a builder, then awesome. More power to them.

If you can make a car better than a Cobra why wouldn't you give it its own body ? If you can build a car better than a Cox GTM wouldn't you give it its own body? Because you think its pretty badically
