What a treat to see these professional installers do their thing. And even a surprise appearance by Donovan! Always great to see pros in action and clearly take pride in their work.
@@shubus I'm not criticizing the quality of their work. They seem to know what they are doing. Its the lack basic common sense safety measures that have me nervous.
Some of the most beautiful stones I've ever seen!!!! Quartzite was absolutely spot on - a great choice. Your wife should be carrying you in her arms Matt for that kitchen! ;)))
Hey Matthew! On the last shot you panned up from the floor showing the beautiful 4 panel island end leg before panning up to the fantastic counter top slab. I have been watching you for A LONG time and I thought about the fact you collected the logs, slabbed them, dried, milled and fabricated the whole damn kitchen! ( let us not forget the flooring too! ) So I say Bravo! and thanks for going to the trouble of bringing all of us dedicated viewers along for the ride. XO.
Hey Matt. Been watching you for years and when I lived in Minnesota it was kind of cool knowing you do too. Fast forward to this video and your countertops were fabricated on machines which I install and service. If you didn’t know, all of those Park Industries machines are made right in your home state in America, specifically in St. Cloud, Minnesota. I loved seeing your excitement after you witnessed the fabrication process those CNC machines do. You should see the CNC machines and humans that make THOSE machines!! I work for Park Industries and I feel like you’d love a tour of our factory. Please reach out to me or our office, I’m sure they’d be happy to show you around some time.
Those are some stunning counter tops Matthew. It's really looking great. I did a similar renovation for one of my friends. They went with the quartz tops. Having seen the result, which was nice, I would have picked quartzite as you did. But that's a great installation. Really nice. My challenge on my renovation here in Japan is finding a stone cutter that can do counter tops for me. Nicely done! Scott from Japan
Brad and their entire team are the perfect type of craftsperson. Just like you: personable, knowledgeable, and in love with the craft. Congratulations on this giant mile-*stone* 🎉
That island top is just awesome. The look of the kitchen as a whole is just so beautiful. It was nice of them to let you film some of the process, and to see professionals that take such pride in their work. Bravo to everyone!!!
The new counter tops look so amazing and each one has its own character for that space. You both will have such a beautiful space when it’s all finished and your hard work will be visible for all your guests.
Hi Matt, Really beautiful. Stone is such a great medium, very much like wood. I have a stone topped dining room table I made, and I have spent hours finding new things in the pattern. You will too. The one hiccup with my top is that it is limestone, so it needs periodic re-polishing. Your quartzite will be much more durable, and that alone makes it a great choice. I wanted locally sourced stone, so I can point at the quarry it came from when I go past, and thus chose local over durable. For form and function, you’ve got the perfect choice. I also applaud your harmonization of the color scheme with the stone. This will make a room you may not want to leave once it’s finished. Cheers, Keith
Awesome looking kitchen Matt. I remember how it started out, great progress. Really like your reference to "wood grain" and "compression figure" - details that us woodworkers really admire. :)
I was watching the video, commenting to my son about the remodel, and how you and Donovan were such fun to watch, and here he comes walking up the steps. The stone is indescribably awesome. I've been waiting for this one for a long time. Thanks again for the journey.
It looks great and I absolutely love the look as it continues up into the windows. a nice touch I haven't seen before and make me wonder why everyone doesn't do that. Of course until I saw yours I never thought of it either.
So Happy Matt that youve posted another video thats so skill uplifting and sensible as always. Thanks for sharing your professionalism in the web. GBU. BTW, always amazing manly pose by the ever faithful friend Donavan. ehehehe
The green tinge is beautiful - very reminiscent of Irish Connemara stone - seeing the process is a great treat - the kitchen deserves the very best and is getting it.
Everytime I watch one of these, I think about the architects - are they following you? You should have them in a tour video - they must be blown away - I can't believe they've seen a design executed so exactly and beautifully.
Well done, the stone colour and finish looks awesome. It’s good to see the professionalism by the stone team from the measure and cutting list creation to the level of care taken on the final install. Great family home addition.
This is so great, not just as a milestone (no pun intended), but as an experience very few people ever have. Of course, Italian stone would be better, but the Brazilian aspect adds a certain je-ne-sais-quois. The first time coffee gets spilled on it, you can chalk it up to nationalism. So glad you charmed the company into the coverage; it's amazing that they let you film the shaping process.
Make a lazy susan from the cut off you have. We did it when we had our counter tops cut and installed and it worked out wonderfully. The Quartziute slab is fantastic.
Was so nice to see Donovan! I miss him on the videos, but I'm glad he's enjoying his new calling. That stone is the be all, do all! What a lovely pattern & the paint just accents it. A perfect blend.
Living in Brazil, good to see a piece of Brazil in your kitchen… great work….. hope it is impregnated so that can’t get stains you cannot remove afterwards…
Matt- As a patron, I so much look forward to your youtube and patreon videos. Watching the entire process of both the home addition and the barn was both fascinating and informative. Your skill with woodworking, metalworking, electronics, etc. inspires me in my small efforts in my garage/workshop. Enjoy your beautiful, newly remodeled home. Thanks, Fred
Your Quartzite is the cap that pushes your kitchen install over the top. It was good of Donavan to make a cameo appearance. He has a lot of sweat equity in this project.
