As a dressmaker who has repurposed beaded fabrics, may I suggest that another fabric be stitched to the center where you intend to create a neckline, then cut your scarf. The extra fabric can be shaped into a neckline, or draped behind the scarf as a facing. In addition I recommend extra side panels to be added for wearing ease, or even inter-line the whole scarf with a lining fabric. I have found that beaded fabrics cannot tolerate any stress, so you will want the dress to be roomy.

During this episode I cried quite a few times every time your Father was mentioned. You see , April 14th will be 4 yrs since I found my Father passed away in his apartment. I have not been the same since and neither has life. April 18th is my Birthday , so needless to say that this month is just a difficult one for me in general. Add the fact that i have not been able to see my Mom or any other human being for that matter in person since February 6th 2020 due to covid really does not help. Your videos though bring such joy to my life and make me feel less lonely. I know everyone says this but its so true. Sending you all lots of love from , Montreal Quebec Canada xoxo Krisandra

I too cried as Stephanie was so gracious when myself and another follower were talking about our dads passing from Covid. I live in Ottawa Ontario my birthday is April 19 and this month is the Anniversary of when my dad lay dying alone in a long term care home and I said goodbye on an iPad because of Covid could not see him . I miss him every day it’s so surreal I can’t believe he’s gone we had no funeral because of Covid so no closure . So even though we don’t know each other we have things in common and one beautiful thing is Stephanie and lalonde which has helped me feel less lonely and connected to such a magical lovely place . I have to agree. A sewing atelier with 2 workstations at least, and cutting/ironing table. It could be decorated beautifully! And house a small library of all the sewing books so far, maybe. And I'm still waiting for them to get an embroidery machine - it was mentioned a few times in the past. For the scarf dress: purchase coordinating fabric, in silk/rayon velvet or georgette or crepe, including one sheer. Sew a 1920s design, which usually includes sheer layers/overdress, and use the scarf as front and back panels of the overdress. Alternatively, if the pattern or designs calls for no sheer overdress or layer, appliqué the peacock design and flowers directly onto the front and back panels of the main fabric of the dress! I don’t think the scarf itself has enough fabric for a 1920s style dress!
@susanduff-silsby2695

Yes, rag quilt. And the raw edges are typically the "right" side of the quilt. I will caution you to wash & dry it by itself the first few times - it will continue to fray, and will produce quite a bit of lint. Which adds to the softness of the raw edges. I've made several of these and love them, especially when made out of flannel.

Kia ora Stephanie, the crocheted towel is a hand towel that as you say you can hang. I have grown up with these in Australia and New Zealand, my Mother always had these hanging in her kitchen near the sink (as do I now) where you can use it to wipe your hands leaving the teatowel only for your dishes. You can hang them from cupboard handles or an oven door handle. They are found normally in local markets by wonderful women that love to crochet or knit. The silk fabrics were divine and as always Philip looked very stylish, this time in his Gran's jacket, it's a perfect length. Way back when... I had a lovely 'day dress' that had been my Great Gran's - in a small floral print on beautiful silk crepe de chine, she passed away in 1950, the year before I was born so I never got to meet her and when my Grandmother gave it to me in the late 60's I decided to wear it, I still remember how wonderful the fabric was as it swished around my legs. I don't have a photo of me in the dress but I do have one of her.... Thank you, for bring back the memory today... 🏰🦘

That’s not a tea towel Stephanie, it’s a hand towel ! The crocheted part it used to hang on a door knob to wipe one’s hands on rather than a tea towel 😁 They are a probably a bit ‘Nana’ for many ppl but extremely sensible and useful.

Your viewers have sent you some extraordinary gifts. Please do not hang the Geisha plate by the metal hanger. Overtime those dig in to the porcelain and ruin the plate. Just a heads up in case you weren't aware Stephanie I truly hope you are feeling better... don't push it.

@@BlackDino468 I wish I could answer that for you. I don't know if the rubber protection is enough or not. If the plates mean anything to you I would display it in another way. A plate easel or under glass in a frame. Good luck to you and I wish I could have helped more.

The beautiful peacock black beaded scarf would be great made into an over tunic, 1920's style, with a black, or teal, or gold sheath dress underneath. That way it will be floaty too, and if it droops a bit, it can be attached at hip and bust level with black, or teal, or gold fabric bars from front to back. The front and back of it would look best not attached, as that would be too much really. Just a thought. I am sure you and Phillip will come up with La Lande Couture with this piece.

Beautiful fabrics and things today. I’m by the Cipriani on 42nd all the time. Before our NYC lockdown last March I stopped there for crustless tea sandwiches for my then 1 and 2 yr old grands. Hopefully I can try their Bellini soon. I assume they are closed since so much is around Grand Central right now. I was sitting here anxious about my daughter and her Italian husband and 2 toddlers flying to Italy in 2 weeks to see his mother in Bologna. She lost her husband last March from what we assume was Covid and she was supposed to come here in late Feb but the new Quarantine in Italy messed that up. I know Stephanie misses her mother and has a similar situation. Thanks for the entertainment and connection to others around the world.

Loving the sari fabrics. Many years ago I was able to buy a couple and a friend turned them into false wrapover skirts and tops. One was to wear at a summer wedding. I then took them both to wear on my first visit to Egypt. They were ideal for wearing in an evening especially on the Nile. cruise.

OMG, That peacock scarf is seriously absolutely gorgeous!!! I mean beyond everything known in creation! And will be even more gorgeous as a dress on you, darling Stephanie! Just a very simple shift will do. Attach at shoulders, under arms (but not too tightly), and on down to hem, or a portion above it. The weight if the beading will cause it to drape over your body, bringing shape and definition. I have no doubt that your dashing, talented Phillip will do it justice. (Oh, to have one’s own handsome, creative, and fun Phillip! 💗). You are immensely blessed, dear Chatelaine Stephanie, just as you should be! 💗
