I started playing magic at the very beginning of the Urza's block. I LOVED that block, and to this day is my favorite. I can remember making my first decks with Serra Avatar, Thorn Elemental, Rancor and Sneak Attack. Can't wait to re-live my youth!

More. A lot of these cards are seeing their second or third reprint in 2 years. Plus there are 3 variants in a product that has more supply than Time Spiral Remastered, which is still readily available. People will also unload their cards because they are losing faith in the market. This is completely unsustainable.

You also realize WOTC demolished the collector equity of that product to give you a cheap copy? and that makes you happy? I'd be more worried about supporting a company that actively pickpockets their own collector equity.

@@Syne111 When TSR came out, I was able to pick up 3 Yawgmoth at ~$20 CDN each. Even if the newest reprint causes the price to go below that point, I was still able to get 1.5 years of play value on them with minimal depreciation (And also the opportunity to sell them off for nearly triple the price during that time). In the end, I don't put much stock into what other's might want to turn a profit. I'm more worried about the gameplay and mechanics on the game. Any variants I purchase are ones that I want at a price point that I want .

@@jaggededge11 That's fine, but I think you're missing the bigger picture here. If you had shelled out $200 for a foil version of Yawgmoth, or you were a Judge who was awarded a Phyrexian Elish Norn in lieu of payment, you'd be absolutely choked to see it reprinted in the exact same treatment, when they could just as easily have kept that treatment special - even while reprinting.

At this point, it isn't worth it to crack any packs. You can buy the singles you need. I know that everyont has been saying that since the beginning, but I am a slow learner. 😛

They don’t care about keeping market value. They want people to open more and more packs hoping to pull that $40 mythic. That’s why plenty of these are that rarity. Same reason why certain secret lairs are certain prices.

Interesting to hear that Sylvan and the tutors have gone back up to 40 ... when they got reprinted they dipped down to 20 but went back up. Good sign that there may be more players playing now and more supply leads to more demand as time goes on? I have a lot of the reprinted cards already so I'll probably just hope to get a pre-release event and save up for the Middle Earth stuff in Fall lol

Don't get me wrong, I love the ability to get a full box in exchange for four cards, but it is better for everybody if stuff is affordable for the most people instead. More people to play with, easier times collecting full sets, heck we'd be able to skip sleeves altogether.

I got new release fatigue sometime around unfinity, but then I saw the reprints in brothers war. Now I see the reprints here..... This altogether is a good thing for players. getting flooded with more copies makes playing more affordable. I do not like the amount of variations though. jumpstart, draft, set, collector, secret, promo, etc. normal, foil, galaxy foil, alternate art, full border art, secret art, promo art. Whetever, this set looks good.

Month by month I had been buying 15-30 dollars over the years, ... Between double Masters 22 and this new set, Ive Lost hundreds of dollars..... It wasnt like that in previous years... Reprints are great, but now theyve reprinted everything within a year... If i had known... I wouldnt have bought so many cards .. a new player can join the Game today, spend a thousand bucks and his collection would be similar to mine , that has cost me ... Much much more over the years..

@@chadbauer I feel you, however it's best to only spend money on newly printed stuff when it's at it's cheapest price. I would love to pick up a doubling season for a deck but I'm going to wait for a reprint because it WILL happen. You need to flip cards pretty fast if you are actually trying to make money. I knew it was only a matter of time till we had a set like double masters. Selling off my high value stuff that was ripe for a reprint would have been smart but I dont have time and those cards were all actually in decks that I play every week. And anything like force of will or enlightened tutor are going to bounce right back up (unless they rapid fire reprint) so I'd advise either selling RIGHT NOW or hold tight until they bounce back.

@@chadbauer are you buying for investing of playing? Because if you are playing you shouldn't care if you lose money on the cards you play with. If you really want to play without losing money you should only buy cards that are most likely to keep their value. Borderless or special art versions are one of those but also cards like the kamigawa lands.

Why feel bad? If wizards wanted you to have the game pieces you needed then you would get them without being raked over the coals by the secondary market. I'm loving the reprints, it's a very nostalgic set. I am, however, not a big fan of getting retro frame foil reprints with the exact same artwork that has previously existed in retro frame foil. It makes the originals seem less special. I don't own a foil Urza's Legacy No Mercy, but I would feel pretty bad if I spent $200 on the original and then saw this spoiled and it looks exactly the same. Same with 7th edition Wrath of God, Opposition, Chainer, Crop Rotation, Wild Growth, etc. I know we've known since the very first Time Spiral set that it's fair game, but it seems they've gone out of their way this time to hand pick a lot more valuable examples.

I'd be more stoked on a new balanced set than more chipping away at the Commander secondary market. Not reassuring for 2023. Some of the new art is nice, but I'm not buying anything new from WOTC until I see a real change in quality of printing, game design, player support and lower print runs for normal sets.

The highs are really high and the lows are really low. Time Spiral Remastered was insultingly under printed, and I’m worried this will be more of the same, where it’ll be impossible to find after it’s gets bought out by investors.

I dont think there has really been a "bad" set since Midnight Hunt but before that I dont remember, WOTC still knows how to make killer sets of cards! Its why this community is still talking about Magic cards and not the latest DIY set that Tommy printed up in the basement. Im sure it may come to fan-made sets when the Game outlives the company that makes it but I think thats a long way off.

WoTC can die at any time and the game is fine. We have thousands and thousands of playable cards and Commander was EDH and made by the players anyway. WoTC just caught up and started printing power creep cards yearly to make it more competitive and thus lucrative for them

I'm happy about the Urza's incubator reprint, I already have a foil one from urza's legacy but it was a much needed reprint. The sets still look like a pass to me, too many bulk rares and mythic, no double rares like double masters and sold at a premium price for sealed draft or collector.

Minor complaint here, but, I'm sick of some cards being ignored for reprints. This would have been the perfect set to reprint the Medallions. And once again, we get Absorb, but not Undermine. The borderless cards are fantastic and I'll get them all. Tedin is my favorite artist and I get Maze of Ith and Denizen of the Deep.

The Medallions weren't included because Tempest wasn't included. WOTC needs to rip a page out of pokemons play book. Reprint the card but don't use the same art. I think this will quell the financial market surrounding some of these cards all while avoiding imploding the card prices of the older art.

I am happy I sold off my collection and only kept my edh decks I play with and buy only card I need for those. With this constant reprints (which I am happy about as it allows more players to own staples) it did not seem worth it to me to keep hold of cards I wasn't using as the value is just not holding anymore as it used to. Nothing wrong with whoever likes collecting, for my personal relationship with the game it just didn't make sense anymore.

They want fetchlands to be like $120 or more before they reprint them If they made all staples worthless then it would be impossible to sell legacy sets for any amount of money

@@randomsanctum I doubt that, if they did the card would become worthless. They want their legacy cards to have value so they can reprint them later on to sell packs, you don't sell $300 booster boxes with legacy cards if all those legacy cards are worthless.

Overall it makes the stuff I bought feel less special, less exclusive, less collectible. The rate at which these masters set reprint are happening makes you feel like nothing is sacred

I feel like I should be hype for this set and I'm always going to be someone who wants affordable game pieces for everyone to play with but in all honesty when I was watching the spoilers this morning I got pretty disheartened, I think the expression thats been going around the most is "when everything is special nothing is special anymore". Everything is getting printed over and over and over again with three different art styles and foil variations, part of this game was about collecting and tracking the value of cards and it was great when needed reprints stabilized the prices and made certain pieces more accessible. However, now nothing feels valuable or safe from over saturation, Masters and reprint sets where like treats, but between all the SL and supplemental products (Jumpstart, 2x2, TSR, DMR) and more Im definitely forgetting, it really is hard to have faith that any of my cards will keep value. Tbh this is just my immediate reaction and may adjust but for some reason instead of being super excited I feel kinda of sad
