gerryb667 Thank you, I have an updated tutorial on the subject if you want to check it out, search my channel for "face swap". I show much better color correction method :)
Thanks a lot, I have now downloaded GIMP 2.8 so I will see how I get on with that. Thanks for all your info, you are a real big help to us computer illiterates lol
This is a good tutorial for beginners.....Honestly I learned a lot...in just about 2 hours + I have learned to replace faces and correct its color... really nice ....thanks buddy!
I did too! he did a awesome job on this even though he said he could do a better job. I think it's perfect. I'd like to see more of his work!! I'm impressed
You are a awesome editor!! How did you learn so much about all the settings and what they do, also how to use them?? I just started experimenting with GIMP last night and don't know how to use it or what the settings do. What is the easiest way to learn how to use GIMP?? I've NEVER used any type of editing software until last night and I need to reduce the size of a image down to 1/2" vertically and 5/8" horizontally without losing clarity for some oval shoelace charms....
You deserve a hug for this. Thank you for sharing this with everyone it is a wonderful tutorial. What would one do if the replacement face were the darker of the two images? In your example you darkened the new face to match the old but what if the faces were reversed and you had to lighten the face to match? I would be very curious to read or see a video with that ... thank you again for your sharing.
You seem to know all about Gimp, my problem is that I don't seem to have all the tools that you have, I have the same as you have on the left and the middle part where you drag and drop the images but I don't have the things on the right side that you have, do you know why I don't have them and how I get them. Thanks
Hi, can you help me please. Everytime after having copied the skin when I click on " light mode" it just shows me the original picture just with a different colour and the "new face" suddenly disappears. Can you help me ?
My interface looks completely different. Half the tools you are using look completely different for me. Especially the blur tool. How did you get your interface to look like this?
A beginner with Gimp... cannot figure this out. No matter how many times I try to follow the tutorial, the skin turns out brown with no transparency. I've tried a few of these tutorials and they all turn out the same way. Any help is most appreciated.
this is a great way to learn face change but for some reason after i put blur i see the face under the face i want and it shows even after playing with skin tone and trying it a dozen times ..please help
when I try to do the Guassian blur it doesn't give me the same icon in the window as yours does, for instance, I didn't get the cross with arrows on it at the bottom left of the picture on the guassian blur window. WHat did I do wrong?
hi there,i tried to do this thing but seems like something is wrong. when i tried to using the brush to paint, the all i get is the layer one. please help me.
I got it to look a lot better, but the color still didn't match, keep in mind I am color deficient as well, so I have people tell me if it is closer or farther away! lol Thanks for the video!
Hey the foreground color isn't the background picture when I click fill with FG color, it's just white. What do I do to make the picture the foreground color?
I have tried this several times, I go to gaussian blur and put in 200 and then it just looks like I changed the opacity again. and I see the rest of the image around the face as well again. Idk what I am doing wrong but I plan to figure it out! I do exactly what you say and it just looks like I put the other picture over and made it look like I just changed the opacity, as I said before. idk what to do to fix this. i am trying to put Mr. Bean's face on my dad as a joke
Every time I try the Gaussian Blur, the face I'm replacing the original with slightly fades, then when I go to fill the layer with the foreground color (the original image's skin tone), then use the Soft Light, the face I'm replacing the original's with disappears and leaves only a tint on the original's face?? Help??
I have a new video on the subject, it's called realistic face swap (you can find it in my channel). I use a different technique for color matching and also explain things a little better. Go check it out :)
Can you or anyone demonstrate using GIMP on how to fix photos by removing shine from a person's face such as when the camera flash reflects on the person's oily skin. These shine spots produce almost white spots on a person's skin. I am not a photo editing PRO and GIMP is what I have available. When I search RU-vid, I can find tutorials on how to fix this problem with Photoshop or other programs but there are none in GIMP. Ironically, I can only find some GIMP videos which add shine to a photo. Can someone please help?
I accidently turned off the tab on the right where you change opacity and where are the layers and i don't know how to turn it on again, can somebody help me?
you are probably missing a step or this technique is not working in your case. Try watching my new tutorial on face replace I explain things better and show much better way to match skin color :)
Ok brother well I appreciate all yoru work. But this video looks way WAY to advanced for me, as of right yet. Right now I just need to get me feet wet. I want to talk a nice picture of my self that just has some red blotches after coming out of the shower. What tutorial coud you point me to on your sight for something like that. And of course no doubt I'll subscribes. Thanks for the helps.
TeaNTea Regarding the blur, try a smaller value. Also, watch my new video on face swap. About your first question - search my channel for these two videos - "Toolbox, Dock Dialogs Basics - GIMP 2.8 Beginners' Guide ep6" and "Setting Up Your Workspace - GIMP 2.8 Beginners' Guide ep5". These two videos will help you with the basics of GIMP interface.

+arnas matutis Hi, I don't know why you are not able to get good results with this tutorial. I have a newer one called realistic face swap where I use another approach for some of the steps. Search my channel for it. Hope it works for you
Please don't put the ad for your channel in the bottom right like that. The way that youtube works now, it is impossible for us to ever get rid of the popup because trying to close it causes youtube to pop up a link for your channel over the X button for the ad. It's frustrating and makes it harder to see what you're doing in the video.
Hi, I don't put these anymore but to remove them from all of my videos is going to take me forever. What you can do is go to the gear icon for the settings on the video and choose turn off annotations
Can I please get you help with this project I am trying to match the skin on on the same model in 2 different photos but it does not seem to work for me. Any help you can give to and old marine like me is greatly appreciated hard charger. Respecftully submitted Staff Sergeant Lattimore
