Kurt Suzuki of the Minnesota Twins at the time of the accident as i do not know if he is on another team at this time was hit by a 67 MPH ball in a area that only men have and from what i saw was still able to get up.
Ha you read my past. I got hit in the nose by a baseball and completely shattered it. Note I am a kid and the ball was about 30 50 feet in the air so ha.
I've never got hit in the face by a baseball at that kinda speed but I'll tell ya. I've been hit by a dodgeball at more than half of that speed... More than once.
Most of these are brutal but the Jennings hit at 6:13 is scary. The way he falls, spins, throws his hat off then looks confused/lost then loses his balance. Yikes.
Having no medical training, I'd think he either kicked his legs out in an instinctual reaction to pain, to turn around and get his bearings back, or to try and get to the ball before he realized he got hit.
@@ExoTheFlyingFish Delayed response. The hit completely disoriented him, but in the mind-- it still hadn't even registered being hit. So the seemingly randomly tutning and hat tossing was partially just instincts and part 'wtf just happened'? Crazy part is, it would even take a minuye or even a few to register (mentally) where he got hit. When everything started to come full circle.. he stood still, then lowered to a knee. Everything returns, to a degree, to acceptance. Put of most of these, that one probably didn't hurt nearly as much as the rest as the brain was given enough awareness to partially register what was going to happen. His didn't. It definitely hurt like a mother after that.
Norm Charlton of Reds bullpen fame took a liner off his forehead and was gushing blood and tried to stay in the game ( he’s pitching for the Mets vs the Reds ironically)
As a kid, I asked my Dad why I couldn't play baseball. He said "you're on blood thinners son, and you have mechanical and artificial heart valves." I left it at that. Now I look back as an adult, I thank God I had such good parents.
Wow! I don't blame him a bit. When I was a kid, I saw one of my team mates get hit in the face by a ground ball and it put him out for the rest of the season, and that was little league.
Have you ever been so dizzy you can't stand anymore? Now imagine you can't tell any which why is up as well, just spinning in a sphere. That is what that is like.
6:20 JENNINGS AT THAT POINT DOESN'T KNOW WHERE HE'S AT OR THE PEOPLE AROUND ARE, HE GOT HIT IN THE FACE WITH A 93 MPH. PITCH SO THAT PUT HIM INTO A BIG CONCUSSION. ALL HIS FRIENDS AROUND HIM ARE MAKING SURE JENNINGS IS OKAY BUT HE DOESN'T HAVE A CLUE WHO THEY ARE & WHERE HE'S AT, THAT'S WHY HIS FACE IS LIKE WHERE AM I & WHO ARE YOU PEOPLE?.
I have seen pitchers crying because a foul ball hit a fan and I know they have to feel pretty terrible if they accidentally hit a fellow player by accident but they feel so much worse when a fan is injured one pitcher actually went to the hospital to check on a young girl who was hit by a foul ball that he pitched and his teammates had an autographed ball for her that’s how bad they felt and in a way it’s not their fault because they have no control over where the ball goes after it’s hit and I do think that the major baseball leagues need to consider putting up more nets to catch foul balls to better protect their fans
You can just tell he's in a complete daze. It's like his body was still going but his mind was gone. Lights are on but nobody's home type of thing. It's very scary to see something like that.
@@Mark_Aaron happened to me once. I got hit on the side of the head with a football. Heard a loud reverberating bang....and just completely blacked out..and literally saw stars in the darkness....when I came to...I was on my knees being held up by my cousin and friend. Didn't even know I got hit and was going down. Luckily I had friends there to hold me up. After that..I had a huge headache and was told to not go to sleep immediately.
Differently concussion, what happens when you have a major one like that is that your brain is not focused, you keep blanking out not remembering what happening, which is probably why he was trying to walk than stopped. Because he sorted off remembered where he was but he brain couldn’t keep up. I’ve had two concussion through riding and the first one on the way to the hospital I apparently asked my mum about 5 times what day it was and what happened, I still don’t remember asking the questions.
It literally reminded me of when you hit a deer,, the way he got up and tried to run without knowing where he was going and his face expressionless,, so scary
Why Wait? She can make her own selfies any day! She's pretty as she is now. Without getting hit in the face with a baseball... In any case, DAMN I was so worried for her!
@Brandon Taylor wtf. Been a Yankee fan my whole life and never knew it stood for that. Should have figured it out by now though, I watch the games almost every night 🤣
Must have played hockey. I've seen many hockey players get slap shots to the face. They're usually down for less than a minute. I was at the Brewers vs Marlins game when Stanton got hit. He was down for 10 minutes. He would have been laughed out of the league in the NHL.
6:12 he was out cold, those movements were all done by the medulla, the instinctual part of the brain. his instinct was to go after the ball but his cortex couldn't process what to do, it's bizarre what happens when you get concussed. he was totally out. I bet he doesn't remember the pitch at all.
For all your assumptions based a Wikipedia article you once read, you sure don’t know what “out cold” means. On top of that, in the incident report, it stated that even though he was concussed, he didn’t lose consciousness. Please leave your diagnoses to the doctors, and not the comments. lol
@@KC-bg1th don't try and flex based on a fucking Wikipedia article YOU once read, moron. I actually went to school and have a vague understanding, whereas you are just a loser who wants some likes and thought you'd be clever. I never made a 'diagnosis' and clearly his medulla and cortex need him to be at least semi conscious to perform the actions I described. So my original comment still stands.
@@KC-bg1th also 'out cold' isn't a medical term so don't act like you have some superior definition because you're so smart. People like you fucking annoy me, just shut the fuck up and move on. Down vote if you don't like what I said, but don't be a smartass
@@oompaloompa5171 It wasn't shock. There is a very noticeable stare that comes with shock. He knew exactly what happened and was even spitting blood out. He just took it like a champ and didn't go down screaming.
First guy: Gets hit in the face and has to be carried away on a stretcher Second guy: Gets hit in the face and casually walks away while spitting blood
"We're receiving word that the next batter up is the designated hitter, who is i---WAIT A MINUTE!!!! HE'S BACK, IT'S SCOTT STERLING!!!!!! HOW DOES HE DO IT? BLOODY NOSE, BLOODY MOUTH, SWOLLEN JAW, HE'S "SEIZING" THE DAY!!!! OH MY!!!!
As a kid, I was banned from batting because I was hit by the ball so many times. I dont know if I just had really bad luck, or if I was just that bad at baseball lol
4:30 I noticed someone ask in a comment what the trainer is doing with his arms. It's a signal to stop all play. Believe it or not, the trainers do actually have a good chunk of authority in this regard. Even if a play is going on, if a trainer feels a player may be in a life or death scenario, all he has to do is either look to the center field camera or the scorers booth behind home plate and give this signal. No matter what is happening, this calls a play dead immediately. You could be in the middle of an infield triple, he can stop the play right then and there.
I’m gonna listen to the people that got drilled Archie Bradley , Happ, Cobb and a few others . None of them liked wearing anything , all of them tried using various “ helmets” none of them liked them . If you look at the number of pitches vs number of face shots and head hits it’s a risk they are willing to take.
that is what i like about baseball, everyone knows it is a competition but even when an opposing player gets hurt, the fans still feel sympathy and applauded when the person gets up
@The Rock Haha nice one. I was just jokin with ya earlier btw. Baseball players are athletes but for sure its not one of the most consistantly physical sports. (Aside from pitcher especially if doing well)
Soccer: run on averbar over 10 kilometers each game. Baseball: run to the bench to sit and wait another 15 minutes to do something again. Jokes aside, Both sports are ok, but yeah soccer players are much more skilled overall
I would hate to have to fight him.. Imagine hitting him as hard as you can and he just looks at you with that "now it's my turn" look on his face . And all's your thinking is aahhhh FUCK!!!!!
I know it's not nearly the same but this is why I quit playing baseball around my middle school/high school days, at the time I was already a ball magnet it seemed, and I just never thought the personal injury was worth it in the end, much respect to these guys, hope they're all doing well.
Oh same. It’s the one science I just don’t get. Weird, because I do get astronomy to a certain degree, but plain physics? It’s essentially a foreign language I could never possibly learn.
Ugh I feel this so much!! On both sides. Took a few catches to the face at short stop and hit the ball right back at the pitchers and coaches. Shit is no joke! Pretty sure I have PTSD anytime balls come flying at my face…….😜
🤣 I laughed too. I pitched and had those hits right seemingly at my face 🤣I only got hit once by a batter … he hit a pop up and my dumb ass tripped over the rubber . Cause I called it no one went after it so it wanged off the top of my head as I was falling backwards . Lol E1 the tough way 🤣
The fact the guy barely even cared, says he's seen some shit. That is what happens, when you see HORRIBLE injuries almost daily. You care less for an individual. It's the truth.
I hit a line drive back at the pitcher once and he was suuuuper lucky it barely clipped the bill of his hat. I felt so bad I almost didn’t finish my run to first. I’d known and played with the guy since I was 11 up into my late teens. Small concussion was all he got I believe. Always scary to watch.
Honestly, I feel as if pitchers should have some sort of face mask as well. It's bad enough to get hit with a 90 miler (trust me), but when it makes contact and returns at about 110-150 )depending on your hitter of course) you need some sort of face protection just in case.
Just wanted to point out that if you see a player get hit and the ball go flying off into the boonies, that's a good thing. That means that ball still had a ton of energy and kept most of it, and the hit player is probably okay. That's whay made Happ's hit so terrifying. The ball lands at his feet. His head took all of that momentum and energy. Absolutey brutal (and blew out his knee going down, which took longer to heal from than the concussion).
Something I found interesting: you can see segura in the very first clip enter the frame at 0:54 when Stanton got hit in the face, and then at 3:22 Segura gets hit in the face. Foreshadow.
I do gotta admit, I wasn't expecting as many "random ball bouncing back to the face" shots but, honestly I'm glad there's as many of those in here to lighten off the mood. Especially considering, I was expecting waaaaaaaay too many "pitch to the face" shots that would piss me off as much as football dirty hits... 😩
I remember when this channel and WesleyApex were THE baseball channels on RU-vid. Now we got 100’s. But Bronxbomber and WesleyApex were where is all started baby. Kudos and props
Audiences and players are caring the hit players and giving applaud when they stood up again. That's the suitable attitude as a audience i think. I'm really impressed with atmosphere when hit by pitch happens. They're really kind to players.
helmet designers -"we should protect the ears mostly -how about protect the face, the eyes that kind of things? -mm nah just the ears" -ok and the hats they could got some protection like aluminium layer -i like your entusiasm ... you´re fired"
This is one of the reasons why I never played baseball. Someone hits me with the equivalency of a rock and I have the equivalency of a stick in my hand , oh you about to get it.
The crowd reactions are the best in these. The girl peering out behind the vendor with a shocked face 3:41, the girl slapping her head at 3:15, the old man in the center at 3:40 does the classic ouch face. Would be nice if there was more crowd reaction videos.
