I remember in Monster Hunter Frontier, Harudomerugu had an attack where he would cover his left arm in a blade-shaped liquid metal coating and then do a SnS-like slash move that would hit things in front of him. I wish there were more Elder Dragons able to use their front paws to unleash strong moves involving their abilities. Risen Kushala is a start
@@Amatsu_storm_approach btw, Nergigante kinda does that, but the spikes he shoots out are parts of his body rather than abilites. In Alatreon's case, the important part of the claw swipe is still his arm, not the dragon energy coming out of it. That's why i said Risen Kushala is a pioneer of that sort of attack among mainline Elder Dragons. Just to clear out confusion. If i'm forgetting any monster please let me know
I absolutely love the sound effects for its wind attacks, especially for the attack at 0:01 to 0:04. It sounds like Kushala is inhaling a ton of air before releasing it in a concentrated blast.
Interesting fact: In spite of Risen Kushala being superior to regular Kushala in virtually every other way, it does develop one major change to its hitzones - its back, of all parts, becomes slightly squisher, having a defense of 45 against shot damage now compared to regular Kush's 30, meaning it takes 45% of the overall damage you'd deal per shot. And 45 is a magic number - a defense of 45 on any hitzone will allow the almighty Weakness Exploit (affinity +15%/+30%/+50% for hits against parts with 45 or higher defense to your damage type) to trigger. That means you can take it down fairly easily with a good Pierce bowgun, especially since Pierce ammo punches right through even dragon-level wind.
While I appreciate Rise adding hitzone values in the Notes, I wish they also included any changes for when monsters enrage, get tired, slap on armor, etc.
Not a light bow gun main, but typically, whether it's base or risen kushala, what I do is just sheathe my weapon and wire but out of range and sometimes just hanging onto my wire bug if I have too. It always works for me but like I said, I haven't touched lbg so I don't know the wirebug usage of that weapon. There should be enough time anyways as 1 wire bug with a mid air flip jump should work.
