A jovial man, musician, God fearing, a man of the people, one of Africa's great leaders...the list can go on and on for the first president of Zambia. At 89 years old now, Kenneth Kaunda is one of the living legends in Africa.
As someone born to Namibian parents taken in by Zambia during our liberation struggle I want to say thank you sir for the help you gave to liberate my country. I used to be ashamed that my birth place on my birth certificate is a camp in Zambia, I never understood why my parents didn't write down Lusaka or any city in Zambia like other parents had, now I know it is as a reminder that there were Africans out there who cared for their brothers and sisters enough to take them in, and help them attain freedom. My heart will forever be drawn to Zambia (Zambian by birth, Namibian by descend). I hope we the younger generations can learn from leaders like Dr Kenneth Kaunda (a real servant of the people) and hopefully take the dreams they had for Africa and turn them into reality.
"The Embassy of the United States of America joins the Zambian people and the international community in mourning the passing of His Excellency Kenneth Kaunda, the first president of the Republic of Zambia. We extend to his family and the people of Zambia our condolences. President Kaunda is known to the Zambian people as the Founding Father and Liberator of the Republic of Zambia. He was steadfast in uniting Zambia's 73 tribes through his commitment to “One Zambia, One Nation.” He advocated against discrimination of people living with HIV/AIDS and was a tireless advocate for the poor and marginalized. We honor his memory and his service to the people of Zambia and across Africa. We mourn his passing. May his soul rest in eternal peace."
@@angellodontreadmyname830 First of all, that doesn't make any sense. I'm not mocking his race so how I'm racist? Second of all, keep your pseudo-humanism to yourself. No intelligent person takes that bullshit seriously. We're not same and that's common fact which is not about to change because of your feelings. There's absolutely nothing wrong with that. Also I wouldn't take all the bullshit in bible seriously. Theism is not rational.
@@showa546 Still your answer to his positivity makes you look bad people say platforms like youtube suck just because you have people like you writing negative comments on positive comments atleast you have the right to free opinions but I don't believe writing that comment made you feel like you are doing us a favor or did it just help your arrogance PS:This is a 14 year old trying to understand why so much bitterness is being used yet it was just a simple way sending greetings NEVER CALL ANOTHER PERSON UNEDUCATED because you do not know them neither do they know you. You embarrass Africans man just keep your arrogance to your self and don't act like HIV viruses that kill all the good left of humanity.
@Mwaniki Mwaniki, agree, Indians treat Africans like garbage when they go to India, they also treat Africans this way on the continent, I live in America and trust me, they think they are superior to Blacks every where. Socially, I find them very awkward people Lastly, have you noticed ALL of a sudden how all these foreigners want to profess their love for Africa and its culture? They all know that there's a new Scramble for Africa and its resources, China, the U S, Russia and Europe are all trying to get ahead of each other for favor. My concern is that the population of Africa is so young they are now very easily persuaded and impressionable. Many of them are buying into this new western/Chinese propaganda of "We Are All One people in the world"...and "Africa is for the world". This is very dangerous for a number of reasons, the majority of people on the continent still are not prospering from the resources within each Nation. Before Africa or any country on that continent to start saying we welcome everyone they first need to make sure that their country and its citizens are all very economically and educationally prosperous.
What an inspiration you are, Dr. Kaunda. I love your joviality, your musicality, your love of God and people. Thank you for being who you are and carrying on the Good Work! Kindness RULES!!!
Another wonderful biography of Africa's Greats! I've been rejuvenated since I stumbled on the 'Faces of Africa' series and my wish is African youths re-enact this undiluted love, passion, sense of responsibility and African national pride these great men exuded. Kudos to CGTN Africa, with love and respect from Nigeria. Long live Africa!
I never knew much of Kaunda before this but it seems he really took the wisdom of the Bible seriously and lived his life always mindful of those lessons. God Bless 🙏 him.
Your Excellency Mr President, Mr Kenneth Kaunda you would forever be my hero and father. Much love from Nigeria 🇳🇬. Your vision sterling quality would never pass without recognition. I still remember the memories I had with you on several occasions. God bless you and thank you for standing not only for mother Zambia 🇿🇲 but for Africa as whole.....Zikomo Boss.
It was always exciting to see him . As a little girl lining up by the road side in our school uniforms waving little Zambian flags 🇿🇲, was so exciting. He was a great leader indeed.
A true great African leader who was very selfless. He & Julius Nyerere of Tanzania fought so much for the Freedom that we are enjoying in my country. Salute Lots of love from South Africa
In the 70s in Rhodesia we laughed at KK. I'm older and wiser now and recognise him as one of Africa's very few Statesmen. I am told by those who knew him that he was a highly agreeable person and a good golfer to boot.
I spent my teenage years in the 80's during KK's time in office. Thank you for being such a great president and humanist. I pride myself of having attended Munali Secondary School, that he also attended much, much earlier. His speeches on TV though! They were loooong! I remember Frank Mutubila, reading the news on ZNBC! Ambassador to Italy, my times changed!
A fascinating video. If he was 88 in 2012, he must be 94 now, in 2018. I hope he lives to be 100 - and even more! I had the honour of meeting him in 1971 and from all he said, it was clear that he wanted only the best for the nation he founded. - He will always be one of the Great Sons of Africa.
I have been moved by the leadership qualities in this African Icon, he spent entirely his life unifying the nation and his life is prolonged for his humility, simplicity and happiness. We love and adore him in South Africa
Much humbled by your fear of God Sir, not many people at your level like to publicly acknowledge the saving Christ. The world is blessed to have a leader like you. Others around the globe will learn.
I love learning about African History and our great leaders who were actually for the people and advocating for the freedom of Africans. Much love from Namibia. We are Africa.
Kaunda suits my father used to dress emulating this man.. and the whole continent adored and still loves Dr Kaunda. Uganda has him at heart. 1980's he was a continental icon and still is.
Growing up in Central Kenya, as a small boy in the early 90s, my dad would always buy my elder brother and I, Kaunda suits every Xmas holiday. RIP Mtukufu Rais Keneth Kaunda.
Dr Keneth Kaunda is a great blessing Africa. I admire him very very much. Thank KK for whatever you have done to Africans. Go well comrade President. Enjoy peaceful life in God's Heaven.
I met doctor Kawunda when I stayed in his home when we were in exile after Idi Mini over threw our President Obote. We had a wonderful time in their home in Lusaka and we had wonderful time with Him and Mama Betty . Let her rest in peace 🙏🙏 . Yunie
Kenneth Kaunda, a man with a big heart, everyone loved him, Zambia gained their independence in 1961, he loved being among his people his motto was do unto other as you would have them do unto you, WOW he was put in prison by the white colonization, love the music and dance, even the young men wore his style of clothing, he helped shaped his country into something wonderful.. THANKS FOR SHARING Kenneth Kaunda story, I felt as if I knew him.
You have played your part KK and it will always be remembered by all, God bless you for the whole world. A good learder is followed by others to do good until their times also comes to an end aluta continua father of Zambia.

Tears are dripping I can't hold it. Am Kenyan and surely never knew the origin of kaunda suit. The story is so moving and never told before. How humble and patriotic. It's unbelievable that he's stuck to one love one wife for 60yrs. Very romantic when he sings to his dear wife esp at their age

ii have good memories of Kennith. i was a young girl. my Father was mayor of Mufulara at the time and my uncle mayor of Ndola he came and had a meal with us a few times. My father had a great respect for him. he is a true gentleman.....i admire him greatly. there hasnt been another like him in Africa,
I remember when I was around 12 years old watching the news and seeing him. God has blessed me to meet him many times. Thinking about this humbles me because I must take something away and use it for Zambia and Africa.
Oh my God! I wish that Dr. Kenneth David Kaunda was my father. I really admired his legend. Long live sister country, Zambia. This is a brother from the Gambia.
Kaunda did what he could do for Africa. God bless him, Namibia is an independent country today and it was because of the contribution of Zambian under the leadership of Kaunda. They hosted us until we attain our independence, history will ab-serve him
This man is really different! Loved him a lot. I used to admire kalusia bualia (if spelled correctly)& Pascal fenduno from Zambia's national football team. But I must have known this man first. Great respect for this father. Saluting ! From Ethiopian
