Yes seen him around 1973 Birmingham odean no big massive venues then seen him around 5 times I seeing him this year York race course.i really like is faces days.
One of the few examples where Rod Stewart actually sings the song written for him by Ronnie Lane to sing in his natural key. I seem to remember a DJ for GLR in the nineties criticising Stewart for singing it. We all remember Lane and Stewart but not an idiot DJ. Beautiful and well crafted song.
Scott Peets Ian played at a small pub here and I helped load the Hammond on and off stage. Spoke with him about 20 mins. Sweet, wonderful man. He passed not soon afterwards
I think of Ian every time I hear Faces / Rod keyboards. He was one of the coolest and nicest people on earth. I had the honor of working with him on his appearance on the Woodsongs Old Time Radio Hour show which was shot about 3 weeks before his sudden passing. He was a joy filled person.
@@richardrollison4197 True. Shortly before Mac died in late '14, Mac said, "I won't do a reunion with Rod now. 2015 is going to be devoted to the Small Faces, not the Faces." Sadly we'll never know what would have happened.
Woddy and Rod were always a fantastic team unbreakable like peas and carrots but you always knew in the back your mind that Ronnie was a stone a Rolling Stone.
A Faces line up without Ronnie Lane & Ian McLagan is just not right. Rod didn't want a reunion when Mac was still alive & I wish he'd kept it that way.
So wouldn't you agree this is Ronnie lanes finest composition? yeah I wrote it with him in Richmond...as much as I love the faces we have to be real, Rod's a knob head.....
@@jamesbowen8960 what I meant was the faced were a great band and the stones aren't . And Ron being in the stones is the only one of the rolling stones having been in a good band . The faces 👍
John Mayall's Bluesbreakers had some real 1st rate musicians also. Clapton was replaced by Mick Taylor. But to me the Stones will always be Brian's band. If it wasn't for Brian Jones, Jagger would've been a gigolo in London. Keith simply wasn't good enough to be in bands like the Yardbirds or the Kinks, Animals, etc. Brian hired them along with Bill Wyman and Charlie Watts was the last one to be asked to join.i never liked Ron and Keirh's chemistry. Ron seems out of place because he's so much better than Richards.
Ron Wood sang on the original. Not Ronnie Lane. Rod and Ronnie released their versions of it later. Rod was supposed to sing on the original but was in the process of splitting with Faces and would not show up for the studio sessions at that point.
MAC was Ian McLagan. The Faces keyboardist. A lovely guy who dealt with real tragedy in his life and managed to stay kind and funny. How, I don’t know.
