Ronnie is one of the most overlooked guitarists in Rock! While I like the Stones, Ronnie doesn't get much of a chance to stretch out, just seems to stand off in the shadows a bit... These guys looked like they were having a blast! Sounded so authentic!
I always thought Ron wood was cool as hell, what a guitar player should look and sound like. Fantastic. Would love to shake his hand and say thankyou for his enormous contribution to rock and roll.
I live near where Rod lives in the UK in the summer & am yet to meet a single person who has got a bad word to say about him! Really friendly, open guy who embraces his fame & enjoys sharing & celebrating it with those around him - A TRUE legend!
You can't claim that. Ron was integral for the Stones. Are you saying he wasn't in his element in the Stones? To say as much proves you know nothing about the Stones or how a band works in general.
Faces was so great. go watch their old gigs. they are just great. i like Oh la la and Maybe I'm amazed. The band wasn't recognised as much as they would be
I echo the other recent comments. Thank you so much for posting this. Really appreciate it. Great camera work under difficult circumstances. The Faces were my band in the 70's and I always thought Stay With Me was just about as good as rock & roll could get......still do! In my humble opinion, better than any Stones song. Ronnie Wood looks in fine form. It's a pity Mac died last year 'cos he would have loved this.....he always wanted a Faces reunion. And Ronnie Lane, well he was just a genius and is still sadly missed. If you've never listened to Ronnie Lane's solo albums can I respectfully suggest you invest a few quid and have a listen. I don't think you'll be disappointed. Thanks again for posting.
Thank you very much for taking your time and effort to capture and post this historic and awesome video for those of us who could not attend. And what ag reat job you did of recording!! Cheers!! It would be a shame if it had been allowed to evaporate into the cosmos.
Great stuff . They still sound great . I hope Ronnie Lane is looking down with smile . Small Faces and the Faces unapologetic rock n roll bands . The U.K. Produced Giants in rock .
I wonder if the secret to Ron Wood's amazing guitar playing is what he's smoking up there on stage? Rod Stewart has always made it look like so much fun. The faces have incredibly great chemistry. Of course the Rolling Stones are amazing legends. Even though the faces did not have that longevity, they were and are still the tops, right up there with the Rolling Stones, when it comes to BEST ROCK AND ROLL EVER!
Ever get the impression that while Mick and Keith who I love would be at odds while Woody and Rod would be at the bar drinking and hiitting on super models who no doubt would be in close proximity
I'm a massive Stones fan, but seriously Ronnie was wasted in the Stones. He's a great musician and his Stones contributions are thin (some good in there) compared to Faces/Beck/Stewart solo.
True on that. He certainly made a ton of $$$ with the Stones and eventually became a partner in the 1990s. Its pretty hard to turn down a gig with The Rolling Stones.
OK, so who made the “shag” the ultimate haircut in 1970? It devolved into the mullet, but there was a time when it was sure thing for getting laid. My wife says it was the reason she stayed overnight at my apartment. Still together after all these years, but my hair is grey and short. Ron still wears it (well), but Stewart has gone short. (A nod is as good as a wink ...!). Christ! You had to be there!
Well spotted yes that was Mollie Marriott on backing vocals. She sang one song earlier before the Faces came on. I expect someone has added it to youtube.
tears & RIP R.L . . HOWEVER . . Sucks deeply without *Ian* . . IT makes any "reunion" a poofter-fest of 2015 . . Rod & Woody should a tried gettin' back with *Jeff* . .but maybe not 'cause. . it's likely Beck don't allow band-mates alongside 'im to wear any *Yacht club* related gear on stage [!!!]
I was their bellboy at Webers Inn in Ann Arbor Michigan in 1972. Ronnie gave me a great tip and I made $52 that night. and went to their concert at the University of Michigan.
