Hi Brent, I am a newbie at facetting. I see that your wheel is turning CCW into the tip of the cullet. At about 7:40 into video. I have been running CW with cullete tip pointing at the disc center. This results in the disc grinding across my facet. Am I doing incorrectly? Thank you for your input.
I'm curious what you do with the gemstones you polish? I've wanted to get into gemstone polishing but I don't have enough money yet. I want to make sure I know what I could do with the gemstones, aside from having a stash, before I make that big of an investment.
Hi, i sell on a website called etsy, Look at my page here www.etsy.com/shop/Gemsbymbk?ref=seller-platform-mcnav I only have a few listed now, you can look back at all ive sold i believe.
Really awesome! I just bought all the machines a few months ago and now I am trying to get the technique right. There is a lot of money to make here where I live by selling fake stones to European tourists!
How did you learn how to do this? It is so amazing how you can take any stone and make it beautiful. I have a lot of raw stones my Uncle left me and I would love to be able to have something made out of them.
My father bought me a machine when i was in high school years ago and with the purchase we received a half dozen lessons , then armed with the vargas book and sheer determination i learned. This was well before the internet age and computers. You can learn alot now from the internet and youtube.
I'm very curious to see a side by side comparison with an actual Jewelry ruby. How big is the difference? Can you please go to a Jewelry and ask to compare your creation with their gemmes?
@@tennpikr74 If you can sneak into the jewelry first to spot their largest ruby, take pictures, and do the same cut at home with a 25$ ruby boule from ebay. Come back and show them!
Amazingly done. I am just about to buy a ring with 0.86crt lab ruby to my lady for engagement and if that stone would be that pure as yours, I'll love it and I think she's gonna love that too ;).
The material is grown in furnaces and is called a boule, then it is usually split lengthwise and fractures occur . I called it an inclusion but it was actually a fracture i believe . I just didnt notice it at the beginning. Once it was finished it was hardly noticeable and much smaller . Usually there are no inclusions in synthetic material.
@@tu1469 The prices vary greatly but i can buy a 2 ct rough ruby thats got good color and clarity for around $100. When cut and In the right setting it can sell for $400.
