Facts About Laura Ingalls Wilder And The Real Life Little House On The Prairie
In this video, you will learn about Laura Wilder and her life, also some very very interesting facts about her life. She was a homesteader and author, famous for her Little House on the Prairie book series. She was a distant relative of president franklin delano roosevelt, he was the president when the Great Depression was happening.
Whenever you read a book or a series of books, you wonder how the authors think about certain scenarios, usually they have lived through that situation or a similar one. She grew up in South Dakota which is known for bad weather in the winter and Laura lived through one of the harshest winters they have seen. She is a very strong woman.

I discovered the series when I was in elementary school and would ride my bike ,9 blocks up to the library in the 1960s. I still read the books and the supplements to this day.

My parents and I traveled through the states each summer, different routes each time, to Wisconsin. My parents families originally from there. We had visited all the homes sites the Ingalls had lived. When we stopped in Mansfield, we met Laura’s best friend, Iene Lichty LaCount and the author Evelyn Thurman. It was a separate book there that gives all the genealogy names and birth of each family name. As it turns out, my aunt researched that Caroline Lake Quiner, before she married Pa Ingalls, was born in Brookfield, Wisconsin, same relationship, genealogy connection as my mom’s side, named Lake’s. Special connection ever since. This comment won’t let me paste photo of my signed book by them.

Laura’s daughter Rose was a journalist who travelled the world. She persuaded Laura to write books based on her life but with a lot of fictional licence. However, they are such a delight, I love them and still read them all every couple of years even though I’ve read them about 40 times each. I remember being amazed Almanzo was 10 years older than Laura as she makes it sound like they are only a few years apart. Would love to know what happened to Ida Brown,, Mary Power and of course Nellie Olsen though Nellie was a combination of more than one person and it wasn’t her real name. Every good book has to have a bad girl and” Nellie “ was Lauras.

Yes she was Nellie owens and there was à girl named Geneviève Masters very snooty and proud who was miss wilders favorite, and laura got inspiréd of them for the character of Nellie oleson.

I was disappointed to learn years ago that many of the ''facts'' in Laura Ingalls Wilder's books were made up. For example, the story about the old Indian predicting a hard winter was something thrown in for entertainment purposes. I didn't know, however, that it was rumored that Rose had written her books. I still enjoy the books, especially '' The Long Winter''. And I will always love '' The Little House on the Prairie '' series.

The fact is that Little House on the Prairie book series is her autobiography. It's not fiction, also, anyone else catch the fact that she died 100 yrs after her husband was born?

The books are quite fictionalized. They are based on her life, but some.characters, like Nellie Olsen, were not actual people. Nellie was based on two different girls from Laura's past.

I loved and read all the Little House books from about Grade 3 until Grade 7, then I did a book report on “These Happy Golden Years.” I got a 59% from the bitch of a language arts teacher simply because I hadn’t gone to school with the same kids since kindergarten and they didn’t like outsiders. Then, I discovered Melrose Place and metal 🔥🖤 The rest is history

Charles Jr. died from a severe case of diarrhea along with many other infants around that same time. They do not know what caused it. It could have been a number of causes during that era.
