Her "lazy" vocal slides are enticing and hypnotic. She makes it sound easy, but she's pretty precise about her slides. Not many people sing like that any more. You hear it more in Americana than in pop or rock. The Beatles did a lot of vocal sliding as well.

David Roback❤❤❤ Rain Parade, Opal! I had a Rain Parade album, and I was a freshman in college and read a tiny blurb in a music magazine that David Roback's new band Mazzy Star had a CD out called 'She Hangs Brightly'. There was a tiny pic of him and Hope and I took one look and ran down to the one record store off campus and asked if they had it. The guy looked at me oddly and said, "Yeah, we got one copy" and grabbed it and I played that all day, for days. 5 years later, they got known after Fade Into You was all over the radio. We were trying to sneak into the Mazzy Star/The Jesus and Mary Chain show and were waiting by the backdoor until we heard them go on, but after quite a while we heard applause and realized Mazzy Star had done their whole set and we hadn't heard anything because they were so quiet. Even though I still have the first Jesus and Mary Chain LP , I really only wanted to see Hope❤

Also, whenever you're hitting the content from 1982-1993, you may want to include the video, as MTV was how many of us consumed music at this time. I appreciate the artistry of this song; and I was in high school in the 90s and loved all the alternative acts. But this song has always bored me to tears and still can’t tell what’s so special about it.

A&A, You’ll love the 1st all-female rock band to release Albums(4) on a major label(‘70-‘73) And TOUR extensively. Fanny’s “Place in the Country”(1971)LIVE ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-QkVYnVAEMIU.html . Their name was chosen to denote a female spirit, not a sexual connotation. David Bowie said "They were one of the finest fucking rock bands of their time, in about 1973. They were extraordinary: they wrote everything, … they were just colossal and wonderful, and nobody's ever mentioned them. They're as important as anybody else who's ever been, ever; it just wasn't their time." He said this to Rolling Stone magazine in 1999. Classic lineup June Millington - lead vocals/lead guitar; Jean Millington - lead vocals, bass; Nickey Barclay - lead vocals, keys; Alice de Buhr-drums, vocals. You’ll also love Fanny’s “Young And Dumb”, “Charity Ball”, “Special Care” and “Hey Bulldog”. The Beatles let them record “Hey Bulldog” in their studio and add a verse!!

My favorite cover of Dylan's "Knockin' on Heaven's Door". 🙃 But seriously, exploring all the pre-Mazzy Star bands of guitarist/co-member David Roback is a fun little rabbit hole to go down: Rain Parade, Paisley Underground one-off "supergroup" Rainy Day, Opal, etc. It's like the guy had the Midas Touch of turning every recording he worked on into this spacey, sleepy, Stonesy, half-awake junkie dreamland.

I voted not for this song but for "Flagpole Sitta" (which I think you should hit at some point) on the recent poll. But I did vote for it on the previous poll that it was on. It's a beautiful song and deserved a reaction. Thanks, guys.

Her singing style is because she is a major introvert and extremely shy. Its apparent in the video as well and not scripted.
