i appended a short clip at the beginning to show gear if anyone is interested.
got a tip from the steam forums that the vines even work on bosses, which i wouldnt have guessed since bosses are immune to things like harpoon and stagger. it's hard to tell exactly when the vines proc because their effect is muted compared to elemental stuff and they get swallowed up by the giant boss model, but there definitely seemed to be stretches where the boss became unresponsive, and i can only conclude it was due to the vines.
he goes completely on crack at the end, very hard to even get close to him. the fight really escalates as his health goes down. i used hardly any potions for the first 2/3rds of his health, and spent like the last 10 minutes just trying to get around the constant spikes, meteors, and adds.
one change i made here was to wait as long as possible before re-eating. i notice that if you walk into a boss fight with 30 minutes of food, you will be hitting 15-20 minutes right as the boss fight gets tough. you dont need max food at the beginning, when the boss aggro is still manageable. you need max 30 minute food as the aggro cranks up. so, try to start the fight with your food partially decayed, so you can re-eat at maybe 5-7 minutes into the fight.
