Appreciate the info! Impressive amount of hours out of those teeth. All my teeth I just hit them with the big impact gun. And I couldn’t do to much more with 18 inch breaker bar. So I left all after hitting them with the gun
V-BELT and SON Yeah man I might try to stay away from rocks as much as possible but still do hit them. Teeth last pretty good and you can always put a edge in them with the grinder. Grab yourself a couple extra holders to have on hand. My operator broke one off last week when he hit the blade. He actually put a hole in the blade! Hahahaha. But yeah front over tighten them or you won’t get them off. Keep killing it man.
Thanks for sharing, always nice to see an 080/FAE set up working. I have a 2018 080 set up running the 100. Nice to hear the maintenance and serviceability has been good too.👍🇺🇸
workplaytv . I have a property in Northern Ca, 20acres of Fir, Pine, Cedar and Oak with a mix of scrub Oak and Manzanita. I’m also terracing some area with French drains and build stack stone retaining walls. Yes, your sharing of experiences helps tremendously. Thanks again👍
Glad to see your back. We also do cell tower work down in the northeast. We just got a 2019 F-550 now that we have the DEF fixed it’s a nice truck. Get a locking cap for your fill. Someone though it would be funny to dump a gallon of fuel in my tank. It cost big money and a lot of downtime, anyway check us out sometime. Be safe.
Glad to see someone running the steel tracks on the KX080. We just ordered a steel track version for a forestry mulching setup and was told that 95% of mini ex sold are rubber track. Do you like the steel track version and why did go with steel over rubber?
I'm not super familiar with kubota specs and I tried digging around online - does the 080 come in 1 or 2 hydraulic flow models, ie: standard or 'high flow'. looks like it specs at 26 gpm. Does that sound right? do you feel like it has enough power for the mulcher head? (I presume yes, since you're still going strong with the machine). I'm looking at 8 and 10 ton machines with 39 and 35 GPM respectively. It would be nice to have option of running a mulcher but it's not my primary use. Wondering if 35 gpm is sufficient. thanks!
Thanks for the great vid. I have been planning to get the 08-04 Kubota and I want to run a mulcher also. I am getting a 150 FAE (or a Diamond mulcher) for my JCB 3TS-8S skid steer as most of my work is pasture. But I want to also do my fence rows and along the river with the excavator where the ground is unlevel/ very steep. Can you tell me where to get the tougher than glass replacement? Manufacturer or supplier. The not cloudy sounds great. Thanks again
I'm in the process of adding an FAE to a KX080, and have seen them installed turned both ways around. FAE is telling me I should install with the belt drive towards the 080, and hose connections away from the 080. But I see you have yours the other way around with the hose connections towards the 080 and the belt drive away. Any particular reason you did it that way?
twistedtreeroad Honestly not at all. Where I bought the machine they plumbed it and the FAE rep was there and was there when I ran it for the first time to make sure it was dialed in perfect.
I've got an 080 with a flail mower on it, but am thinking of replacing it with an FAE mulcher head so I can cut bigger saplings and trees. What's the biggest diameter stem that the FAE will comfortably cut? And is there anything that the flail mower would be better at? Maybe light stuff like grass? I do some amount of roadside mowing.
twistedtreeroad It can comfortably do up to 4 inch and then 6-8 inch can be done big takes longer depending on wood type. I have taken down some 10 inch soft wood with it though. It also is very effective with talk grass. To me what you want to use it for the Mulcher is the way to go. Hope that helps.
@@workplaytv Thanks. Do you have the KX080 hydraulic pressure turned up above the standard 3000 PSI? I know some people do when running mulchers, but I'm a bit uncomfortable doing that
I am curious how you did your windshield. Did you replace your glass with Poly carbonate and put it in the stock frame? Also how thick is it? I have a KX 080 that I,m currently running a flail head from U.S. Mower on, and looking to step into a mulcher, but I'm looking for a better solution for protection from debris. Great video! Keep up the good work!
Keep up the great content. Love watching your videos. We currently have a Deere 50G excavator and just bought a Deere 325 skid steer. I have tons of questions for you. But, one that sticks out is why did you opt for steel tracks vs. the rubbers? I see the kubota KX080 comes both ways and maybe that’s just how that unit was set up. I guess what I’m more curious about is, if you had to buy the machine again would you opt for the steel over the rubber again?
WeGoOutdoors Hey no problem. I absolutely would go steel in my circumstance because most of my work is in the bush doing forestry work and the steel tracks get much better grip. Hope that helps.
Yes sir it definitely does and thanks for the response. We had a lot of variables to consider when we bought the 50G and it has overall been a great machine. I definitely like running the excavator more than the skid steer. There’s just something about the excavator that makes it more appealing to run. We have been looking into getting a mulcher to clean up small properties but we would need to upgrade one of our units. So I am currently considering either a mulcher head for a new excavator or getting an upgraded skid steer with a mulcher. It looks like the set up you have is working for you and that’s all that matters.
WeGoOutdoors Hey yeah excavator all day compared to skid. Yeah so far so good. I have made some mods to the mulcher to beef it up big working well so far.
D Smith Hey man typically my jobs are quoted. So hourly rate plus travel and expenses but sometimes I do it by the hour. They said they have a certain to spend and when I reach that amount we shut it down.
I do the same thing with my landscaping. I kinda have an idea of what I'll do it for a once I reach that feeling where my stomach starts to talk to me, I let them know I can't do it. I'm starting from the ground up. What size excavator do you recommend that I start with?
workplaytv at least he’s doing the checks and turning the teeth. He’s not the type “ it’s not my job” I’am only the operator. But can we stay away from “Herby over torque “. Breaker bar and 8’ Cheater pipe?😃🤪😃🤪😃🤪😃👍
workplaytv I would say your up and moving to early, but your in Atlantic time zone? And I’am in Mountain time zone, for now. Headed east.A long dry spell from your post,I for one enjoy them very much. Thanks for the time and sharing.CJ
