We just ordered the same setup. Now it's a waiting game. And we're just getting our channel up and going.

Another informative video, thanks bud. I bought a ranch in Northern Ca, not to far from your buddy Sam. I am doing my own land clearing, trenching, road/trail building etc. purchased a used Kubota L3800 with backhoe, box scraper, back blade, spray rig, loader, grapple and forks. I also found a used Vermeer chipper 6inch and this was my first attempt at thinning trees, brush and clean up work. It kicked my a$$ over the last two years and decided after watching you, Sam and other folks using a mini/midi excavator with a mulching head and still needing to do a few thousand feet of trench and rock retaining wall, I thought I would look into it. Like you, I priced out the CAT308, Deere 75G and a few others. Not only was the 080 less money, the dealer was close by and I already had a Kubota machine and relationship with them. I went with the FAE DML/HY 100VT and it works very well, I also went with the remote front and back doors and carbide teeth for a cleaner sub soil finish. I just picked up a set of FAE chipper teeth for a first pass and then will finish with the carbide. Mine is using the single bolt “E-Blade” at $52.00 a blade for reversible chipper and $71.00 for carbide, no doubt the most expensive part of maintaining this machine and head. I also picked up a used Genie Z60/34 4x4 boom lift for trimming all the dead wood below the canopy. So far so good and thanks for all the great information, it helped me make solid choices that are serving me well.👍👍👍

Yep, our 2008 model would do the same thing . A little dirt in the fuel filter and it would sputter.

I bought a new bx 25d a year ago for our farm just as a smaller machine to dig with and clean stalls with Kubota makes a great product don’t know if I’d buy their skidsteers but everything else i Love

allied1394 Yeah man for sure I honestly have nothing to complain about whatsoever. I have used the SVT 90 and that thing is a beast!!

Do the numbers work for brushing if someone would buy a used truck trailer excavator and mulching attachment? Equipment even used is so expensive I guess one would have to work some long hours to get it all paid off. Enjoyed your review.

This is a nice machine. My dad is probably gonna buy something similar to install pivots. This unit is nice because it will do everything we would've had to do with a full-sized track hoe, only we can pull it with our F350 and tandom dually trailer. I am a Cat guy all the way, but they're overpriced, especially for the lack of an angle blade.

@@workplaytv And the Kubota operates a little smoother. We rented a 305e2, and I remembered why I didn't like the last cat we rented; it rode and operated rougher than a Kubota.

My 2009 80 has 9000hrs and its been insanely reliable. Some fuel filter issues like yourself and basic maintenance. I love it and would gladly buy and recommend another one. Ps how's the regen at -30?

The kubota is a far better machine than the Deere. I hate the smaller Deere’s. The 17G is decent and that’s about it! I really don’t like the cat 305 or the 305.5’s that I’ve run. Very slow and under powered. I might be picking up a kx057 if my buddy can get the deal he wants on a kx027. He’s looking to down size so it might work out well. Failing that I’ll be getting a KX080 if I have to go new. The entry and exit from the cab on the kubota is a lot easier vs the Deere as well. I have a 60g on site right now and it’s a pain for my big ass to get in and out of it lol

What are your thoughts on the 55 or 57 for this type of work?
@allied1394

Deere and cat are so expensive I just bought a new s570 with tooth bucket last week loaded every option for around 45 grand I gotta get a snow bucket for it. It’s a wheeled machine no tracks I thought that was pretty fair that being said I’m with you when your ass Is on the line and your the one paying for the equipment there’s no need to go waste an extra 30 grand if u don’t need to rather keep that money in the bank for a rainy day

I’ve got a pile of mature stumps 50+ to remove from a food plot project I’m tackling. I’ve run equipment but never an excavator. Do you think renting this model of machine would be worth while or is the learning curve to steep and long for a weekend or two’s rental? Skid was taking way too long per stump, didn’t know if this would be quicker? Trying to avoid but might just break down and hire a dozer. Very nice machine. Any possible advice on a different approach would be appreciated. Thanks!!

Dave Ulrich When it comes down to it it is usually cheaper to just hire someone that does this everyday. Is your skid joystick or pedals?
@daveulrich4623
@daveulrich4623 5 лет назад
The one I was using was pedals and maybe a bit undersized for the job? The pines are very deeply rooted and I was having to dig a skid sized hole around them to finally pop one out. Probably 30 minutes a piece, didn’t know what this machine might be able to do time wise on good mature sized red pine stumps? Looks like if you dig each side and break the roots you can reach over the top and pop it out towards you.

The controls for the boom swing seem to be reversed...(Smile) when you said "move the boom to the right" it went to the left.
