Yeah, same here. I think faen sounds actually pretty cute compared to perkele. I just can't figure out why people think it's cute, or is that just because I'm a Finn?
MiniFanSubs That's funny for me too, actually I don't think perkele is a cute word, but well, maybe it's because I'm brazilian that we mainly say "foda" as the same mean that fuck, but we can say "porra" that a bit worse than just foda, that can be also a good swearword (if this is possible)
As my father usually says: "FAEN HAN SÅ INDERLIG HØGGE OG SALTE!!!", though there are variations on the ending. Sometimes it's "SALTE OG GNAGA!!!", while other times it's "HØGGE OG SKJÆRA!!!" Other Norwegians might notice that my father is from Hedmark.
At secondary school (many, many years ago) I read this piece about swearing and it was about the fact that the swears need some "power" in them to work. So you couldnt say: fy druen (you naughty grape), since there is no strength in the expression, you cant kindof expell your negative energy with it.
With all the hours I waste watching RU-vid these days, watching this video has really proven that I'm consuming highly sophisticated cultural content! This must be why it often takes so much of my focus and attention that I actually won't hear any of the words that come out of my woman's mouth while I'm viewing!
As a Norwegian, I take natural pride in our rich swear-heritage. But I tell you; we'll NEVER reach the almost artistic level of swearing we find in the language of the Finns! Perkele! Vittu Saatana!
