I used to suck at school so bad! i have 2 F's and 7 W's on my transcript. Now I am starting nursing school for my BSN this fall at a CSU. Anyone can do it --just takes focus and a little hard work!! When I decided to become a nurse I didn't allow anything to get in the way to achieve that goal. Set your goals and don't deviate from them! I think that's #1.

@Alex Ngo How old are you or were you when you decided nursing was for you or that you wanted to pursue a career in that field? I am 28 years old and just recently had my calling out of nowhere. I had been out of school for some years now and am having cold feet. I told myself I just want to be a SOMEBODY within the next 4 or so years by the time I hit my 30s . The only thing stopping me is myself and self doubt .

this comment made me cry - I had to withdraw from my A&PII and feeling blue. it's made me question my career choice. the odd thing is that I was really interested in the material but guess that just wasn't enough.

Hey Alex. I am 25. I graduated from CSUN with a BA in Public Health Promotion. I have always wanted to be a Registered Nurse. Unfortunately I got a D in Anatomy and Physiology and than I tried retaking it last semester and I failed Anatomy. I am gonna be working on my Physio this Summer. And Planning to retake Anatomy and hopefully pass with a C or better. I am scared I wont be able to get into a nursing program. This is all I have ever wanted to do. I have looked in to Unitek and American Career College. Seems like they all require Anatomy and Physio with a C or better. I feel very lost and I am also in a time crunch. I need to get into nursing school by the next year. Atleast thats my goal. Any recommendations???

I used Nurse Bass tips on how to study for A & P and for the first time in my life I have a 4.0 in nursing school! I'm only a freshman and still have 17 more months to go, but his tips works ya'll. Focus on the power point slides, re-review, and most importantly, you got to live it! Even when I'm doing errands or things out of school, I am constantly thinking about things I learned in class. YOU CAN DO IT! FOCUS, REPETITION, & SILENCE ( study groups were too distracting to me).

You definitely can do it. I just took my first science class coming in with no science background or anything not even knowing that the human body is categorized in systems, I grinded got an F in the my first exam. However, I didn’t quit and kept grinding and got an A by the end of the semester.

One thing I learned that I wish I had known before was if your getting to the end of the course and there is no way to pass. If you know you will fail I would withdraw versus fail to keep it from ruining your GPA.

This class is so hard.The way they teach it is ridiculous.Each section should be an exam instead of five chapters in one exam.How do they expect you to work deal with your kids etc.Im about to just give up an pursue something else.I dreamed of being an RN but I can't do this class I try and try and try a C will kill my chances to get into any Rn program it sucks but that's life what can you do except accept it an move on

I failed intro to anatomy & physiology twice. I am now taking it for the 3rd time online and i am struggling to maintain an A average. I study very hard every single day and understand the material but it doesn't pay off on the exams. I'm afraid i might fail again which is so embarrassing considering the fact that i study my ass off. My major is Radiology, but how will i make it in the medical field if I can't pass a&p 1, and imagine what a&p 2 will be like. ugh i feel horrible

I had to study for 12 hours for those tests and once you get it you get it it's not so bad. I got a B+ to A in both courses. I would look at pics or go in the lab and use what they had in there and just use memory recall until I could do it without getting it wrong or looking.

Micro is a lot harder! Just apply yourself, take everything one item at a time. I had a lab quiz every Friday and sometimes would have a 3 chapter exam 3 days later. I focused on the lab quiz, once it was completed i would focus on the exam. Never burn yourself out! I got a 92.5% =A and noite starting AP 2

This was very inspiring. I have a C in AP 2 and I’ve already taken it 3 times! 😩 I need to have an A now to get my gpa back up to a 3.0. I understand how embarrassing it is to retake the same class and I feel as if maybe I’m not meant to be a nurse due to not getting the grades to get into nursing school. And what if I struggle more once I am in? I cried when I changed my mind about my major due to doubting I will get an A. I may try again just have thing to consider and prioritize with being a single mom.

I dropped the class my first time taking A & P because I was working full time and did not have enough time to study. I am taking the class again and I went part time and I’m still struggling. I always end up studying what’s not on the exam. They don’t give reviews that prep you for the test, none of the review material is ever on the test. I can’t seem to study what’s on the test and we do 3 and 4 chapters at a time. The chapters are about 30 pages long EACH. There is no way you can memorize everything. I try to pick out what I thing is important and I’m always wrong. I have 2 more tests left and I’m at the end of the class with a 78 so far. The exams are worth 55% of the grade and I’m mentally and emotionally drained. I’m considering changing my major too.

Look l failed out of nursing school and it there are certain variables or conditions as to why we fail. Did you comprehend the material given by your instructor. A& P is not just memorization it's critical analysts as to why ? Basic things as what is blood pressure. How does the body compensate.? If you learn how as why this happens the function of each body system and when you take the test and you understand you will pass A& P. Another is are you disciplined enough to have time to study? Are you single parent juggling with making ends meets? Are you the sole provider of your family? Do you socialize yoo much? Did you ever think of hiring a tutor or go to a website that can assist You? Don't worry you got this anything is possible you will pass.

I took my intro to anatomy and physiology course this fall I had to withdraw after I had failed my first test and my first lab exam. I felt like I wasn't smart enough to apply to the LVN program. It has been really hard for me to not give up in the class its a lot of information and I am working full time as a teacher and the pay it's just not giving me the lifestyle that I really want or flexibility at all. I am taking it again next year in 2024. Hopefully I don't give up. It's even hard for me to study for this course while working full time. Any encouragement I'm not going to share how many times I have taken this course and withdrew from it because I am embarassed yep.

I dont think that's true, not at least at the school I am in. If you fail a class and you can retake it and whatever you make then replaces that grade.. I made a C in AP1 before, retook it the next semester and made a B it then replaced that C.. I would contact your college and ask an adviser.

People plug the A&P course as essential for nursing application. Not just Nurse Bass. My sister has been an RN for like twenty years and she told me I will never use A&P in my real nursing world. Maybe if I was a doctor, but not as a nurse. Seems like courses like this separate the die-hards from the maybe-I'll-try-this-nope-screw-this groups. Still not sure which group I am in yet.

When nursing is his dream, he should go to a technical school for medical assistant or become a licensed practical nurse. A LVN is the diploma nurse. He could still be earning a fair salary until his pre requesites clear up. He will be learning a lot as a LVN and he will be a nurse already. Later, he could head up to LVN to BSN. People can work while in nursing school.
@jlmcgrot
@jlmcgrot 5 лет назад
That wasn't that brutal. The truth is that 3 years is not that long ago and by the third time this person should have been well prepared for what to expect. This was his/her "dream" after all. If it is important to you, you'll do it. Can a person have some revelation of maturity in 3 years? Sure, but this isn't a scenario where someone messed around in college 15 years ago and now life experience has helped them focus. Also, make sure you aren't wasting time taking it again. I've seen a lot of schools that set a max attempt on the science courses and the truth is that taking it 4 times to pass is a bit much, without some extenuating circumstances.

Take it online this summer but the professor review in rate my professor is horrible saying he is really hard. Or take it online in the fall however I will be taking chemistry and microbiology next fall too. What exactly should I do?? Take it this summer with the horrible rated professor or take it online during the fall with those heavy workload. I really appreciate your reply.

I think u should take it over summer! Sometimes those reviews can be misleading. I once took a professor with 1 star rating because she was so difficult, but it wasn’t that bad and I got an A. Also, it would be really helpful to know some A&P before Micro (in my opinion) just because Micro is very detailed and you’ll want to put in some extra hours for it
