A bit of a different approach to videomaking this time, talking a little about dealing with your art not selling and the temptation to feel sorry for yourself. It's something that comes up often in my life so I thought I'd just share my thoughts on it and what I do to break out of it.
Thank you for viewing, check out the various links below if you'd like to see what else I get up to.

Oh and we loved 'Get Stuffed'. That's the kind of profoundly reflective content we really admire about your channel - it makes ya' think...

Hi Clint. I really liked this introspective view of being a craftsman and artist. Few people express this as well as you have. The shooting and editing very nicely complement your message. I’m glad to see you ended it with a view of you back at work. Keep at it! Thanks so much for sharing this. Ken

Cheers Ken, I never really know if a video like this is too self indulgent but I feel like it's important to talk about failing at things and then getting back up I suppose!

as an artist who struggles with same feelings i gota say that this vid was a total pleasure to watch. it felt sincere, authentic which even though it should be simple seems hard to do in our society

Thank you Mark I'm glad you enjoyed it. Sometimes I like to deviate from just tutorials and project builds to show the less appealing side of making art. But I suppose everyone experiences a sense of failure in their work whatever it is.

I really enjoy this kind of presentation - all the establishing shots seem to portray your artistic mindset and attitude. (Blimey, that sounds pretentious...) What I mean is that I like seeing the shots through the window, the reflections on the glass, the shots from grass level, the old shed. They make me think Timber Anew. Of course, you're not Timber Anew anymore (or even Timber Andrew.) So you should make videos as and you feel today. I feel your philosophy of dealing disappointment by working is mostly sound - it reminds of my hero Peter Markey saying 'ideas come when you're working '. Being enveloped in your work is usually good therapy. I enjoyed this one Clint. It's nice to have something reflective like this now and then. Cheers mate.

Thanks mate! I appreciate the feedback, it's generally a very difficult thing to get unless you specifically ask for it (and even then it's difficult). I'd like to intersperse these kinds of videos with tutorials, mix it up a little but keep the broad theme the same. Haha and I'm very glad you like 'Get Stuffed', I really enjoyed carving that haha

Those carvings just haven't found the right home yet, but they will.

I had a couple of shelves of bowls and goblets in our busy local village shop a few years ago and managed to sell two or three pieces which was a bit disappointing, I had really had my hopes up that maybe I've hit on something here when asked to fill those shelves,it probably took two years to sell those pieces and when the people who had the shop decided to move I bought them all home . I do manage to sell the odd bowl etc now and again but I never started wood turning to make money ,it was more of an interest and to try and do something sort of creative. The house is full of stuff I have made and never likely to sell but it keeps me out of mischief lol Take care mate Bram

Well it's great that you got to have the experience of selling those things at least, better than not trying at all I reckon. Thanks for having a look mate!

Yeah, Been there, done that, read the book, got the T-shirt, washed it, sent it back, taped over the video and downloaded the app (ha ha). I have made video's for my channel I thought would be well received and... Nope! Video's I thought would not do very well have flown. Same with my woodwork/turning/carving/origami I used to sulk for a few days but now I don't as I have too many ideas need realising. Your items that haven't sold will, they just haven't found their forever home yet. You are creating art and that's all that matters. SWAMBO (She Who Always Must Be Obeyed) and myself are avid museum and exhibition goer's and don't rate many of these modern artists at all. They sell themselves as a brand and play the art game but you are a true creator and are better than that. I'm certain the word struggling and artist go together as I now use my pushbike whenever I can to save fuel costs and my heating is so low all the spiders have migrated! I expect, when I am no more, some of my work will find a home. Probably bought for pennies from a charity shop but it will still make people smile and feel good and, to me, that's all that matters. Looking forward to your next carving adventure mate.

Cheers Stephen, I'm glad you enjoyed it and that you can relate to this kinda stuff. I think the problem with art is that it's hard to define it really and also you never really know what will resonate with people, so it's a bit of a shot on the dark
