Fainne Geal an Lae - a very popular melody from the irish folk tradition. First published in 1847, It almost certainly emerged from the suppressed bardic schools around Killarney in the 1750s. This is the oldest existing version sung in the Irish language. It recalls a dawn encounter with the eternally youthful and beautiful goddess, Brigid.The melody was most recently popularised as Raglan Road.
