I remember watching this in the very thick of the pandemic. It really gets to me every time. This is one of the greatest songs and one of the greatest pieces of music I've ever heard. Sung so directly and beautifully.
For me, this is the best video on RU-vid, all the singers, the song and the production are absolutely wonderful. However, it's almost unbelievable that TG4 could post such a gem and fail to give the names of the singers.
Fáinne Gael an Lae Maidin moch do ghabhas amach Ar bhruach Locha Léin An Samhradh 'teacht 's an chraobh len' ais Is ionrach te ón ngréin Ar thaisteal dom trí bhailte poirt Is bánta míne réidhe Cé a gheobhainn le m'ais ach an chúileann deas Le fáinne geal an lae Ní raibh bróg ná stoca, caidhp ná clóc Ar mo stóirín óg ón speir Ach folt fionn órga síos go troigh Ag fás go barr an fhéir Bhí calán crúite aici ina glaic 'S ar dhrúcht ba dheas a scéimh Do rug barr gean ar Bhéineas deas Le fáinne geal an lae Do shuigh an bhrídoeg síos le m'ais Ar bhinse glas den fhéar Ag magadh léi, bhíos dá maíomh go pras Mar mhnaoi nach scarfainn léi 'S é dúirt sí liomsa, "Imigh uaim Is scaoil ar siúl mé a réic" Sin iad aneas na soilse ag teacht Le fáinne geal an lae
Go hiontach. Cé atá ag casadh? Aithním Pádraigín, Doimnic & Éamonn ach cé hí an Feirsteach nó an bheirt i nGaillimh (an Ollscoil agus Bóthar na Trá?) Agus cé hiad an cór?
An dheas ar fad! Is é seo an chéad amhrán a seinm mé ar an feadóg nuair a bhí mé óg. Triocha chúig Bhlian ó shin... Anois, seinm mé é go minic ar mo Phíob Mhór. Very nice! This was the first song I learned on the Tin Whistle. Thirty five years ago... Now I often play it on my set of Irish Warpipes.
Triocha cuig blian ag obair agus ag conai thall sasana agus se an gaelige mo teanga fos after thirty five years working and living in england gaelige is still my lanauge you know these people that after six months give ooh I lost my Irish or put on a fake accent they get on my ffing tits
The woman singing the end of the second verse is Pádraigín Ní Uallacháin from South Armagh. She’s singing on Flagstaff mountain Southwest of Newry, overlooking Carlingford lough.
Russ Corbett no problem. The young girl is from Galway I’m assuming based off the boat being called ‘Claddagh’. The young woman at the start might be in Trinity Dublin, I’m not sure.
@@deanmccullough5099 tgank you again !! I'm here in the US in South Carolina and I doubt that I'll ever get to Ireland to see anything so it's good to know whay I'm looking at ,,,, Thank you again !!
Sorry to wax lyrically.... but when listening to singing as gaeilghe, I always feel (especially when the singers are good) that the melody is inconsequential... The singing comes from the heart, as if the language is another emotion to be expressed. The effect is singularly beautiful.
Tá guthanna amhránaithe ó gach páirt don tír anseo, le canúintí éagsúil. Ina measc tá Éamonn Ó Donnchadha, Doimnic Mac Giolla Bhríde agus go leor eile. The singers come from all parts of Ireland and cover all the different dialects. Amongst the many singers are Éamonn Ó Donnchadha and Doimnic Mac Giolla Bhríde.
@@TG4TV Cén t-ainm atá ar an gcailín óg ar chan céad leath an triú rainn (1:49-2:13)? Is aoibhinn liom a glór agus ba mhaith liom tuilleadh taifeadtaí a chloisteáil di.
Car mhisde an Ghaeilge a bheith agamsa agus agatsa leis - is i ar dteanga naisiunta i agus ba i ar dteanga naisiunta i roimh eag do Chriost ar dTiarna.
