We've done tours with Chad Husby at the Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden in the past, but the conservatory is ALWAYS changing, and Chad is ALWAYS a pleasure to botanize with, so of course we wanted to come back and see what new (and old) plants are growing.
Enjoy this tour. It's the second part of the conservatory. First part can be found here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-It18_JBk41E.html

Loved this tour. The best thing about walking through Fairchild is that one is going on an adventure. One feels like a plant explorer discovering all kinds of new wonderous plants. Surely that must be how David Fairchild felt when setting out in his journeys to far off places in search of specimens to bring back. I'm glad Fairchild has preserved his dreams and added to them.

It's funny I've learned more about geography from gardening and botanical shows. Lol. New Caledonia? I had to look that one up. The conifers are just beautiful in these last two episodes😍 Thanks Summer🥰

The palm referred to as the Window Pane Palm is actually a Reinhardtia (probably gracilis). Beccariophoenix fenestralis is the Giant Window Pane Palm from Madagascar and is a very large palm.

The palm at 1:30 is actually Reinhardtia gracilis, not Beccariophoenix fenestralis (both are known colloquially as Window-pane palm, but B. fenestralis is a much larger palm and looses the windows as it matures).

The palm that has the windows is reinhadia gracillis . They have a couple palms that have the windows and the one you put in is the most popular

Aaron I right. I live in NW Florida and can not get verbena to flower in the summer but in the fall, winter and spring. It doesn’t cool off at night enough for them, or Supertunias for that matter!

Hey summer nice episode, i've seen a fieldtrip videos by Patric blanc on youtube where he did tracking in a habitat and looked for plants in the nature and then described it, it's really facinating and would be cooler if you kindly did the same in your neighborhood forest or something.

Pest management, do you know how they control the pests in the conservatory? I could imagine if the pests got out of control it would be a nightmare, potentially losing many plants.❄️💚🙃
@dewantoroo
@dewantoroo Год назад
I think they only use beneficial insects to fight against the bad pest. I can't imagine they use any pesticide in the conservatory.

So if you keep your plants at 55 degrees they will survive and thrive? ❄️💚🙃
@chomama1628

They will survive but not thrive. Their growth would slow down substantially.
