Hi, I'm Summer Rayne Oakes. I started 'Plant One On Me' back in February 2017 to help answer houseplant care questions at my kitchen table with my iPhone 7. Since that time, the RU-vid channel has expanded in scope and depth, featuring regular episodes that share the beauty of plants with the people who love them.
Our mission is to bring people closer to plants by bringing plants closer to them through engaging, entertaining, and educational content. You'll see houseplant tips, home tours, plant unboxings, field trips to botanical gardens, and more on this channel.
Starting in 2021, 1% of our Google AdSense revenue goes towards plant conservation initiatives, and we are happy to have been able to support the Cactus Succulent and Specialist Group (via the Desert Garden Society) the first year.

Thank you! I’m about to get one and my mother wondered why they are called ”tree cacti”. I love the fact about the evolution of cacti and pereskia as an ancestral species! Fascinating.
My first snake plant was a laurentii that I got a cutting from my Dr office. I had no idea about variegation or snake plants. Of course It reverted but I still have the original plant from almost 10 years ago it's huge and well loved. I've gotten 15 more varieties since then.
I had family visiting me in Colorado. Hiked a trail that had a lot of 3 leaf plants but I didn't know how to tell is it was true poison ivy. You very clearly showed how to tell. Super awesome and thanks to the info.
Just bought a coppertone. Here in Singapore I grow these plants on the balcony in full equatorial sun. I water several times a week. They love their lives!
Hello. I’m planning on buying some lacewings however although I only have 200+ plants in my apartment. I have the pest issues somewhat under control but my plants are too heavy for me to keep lifting to my tub to spray them with my homemade concoction. (i live on the 4th floor) They sell the lacewings in large quantities and I’m sure I don’t need that much so I concerned about how to store the unused one and how long can I keep them for. I don’t want to save my plants at the cost of killing the lacewings
I have dracaenas growing in my garden and the perfume from the blooms in summer is amazing. I live in the subtropics of Australia. I love your show. Cheers Bronwyn 🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺
I also got rid of all of my backyard grass, but mines is more of a backyard food forest. I do have many plants for pollination, color, uniqueness, their beauty and splendor. This garden definitely inspires me to add more palms , they look expectacular and I do Love the pond. Actually what is not to love about her awesome and unique garden! ❤
Ive lived at our farm now for 45 years...of which there is 60 acres of timber and brush. Constantly in the timber cutting wood and fixing fence. I have never had any reaction to anything other then horse nettle between May 15th to June 15th. I guess we dont have poison Ivy ????
Even unexpected, this was trenendously enjoyable…while official guided tours are nice there’s sometimes too much looking at them instead of plants. And it was kinds nice hearing and seeing the other visitors. Summer, your commentary was great and Sanders camera work was nice and slow. I liked seeing the Dracena blooming, mine does every year, almost too fragrant (at night! ) but seeing the flowers and Sansieviera flowers really shows how they are now classified. Always look at the flowers to ID plants Joey Santore says. Some very unusual things to see and now look up…nice. Thank you both, well done. But Summer, I had to check the date of this, you’re all bundled up-we ( east central NJ) just went thru 8 days over 90, couple 98 degree days. Wasn’t it hot in Pittsburgh?! Glad you’re both safe 🤗🌿💚
Wow that is amazingly beautiful conservatory, nice to see mature houseplants, thank you for sharing, I’m glad the airplane landed safely and you guys had a chance of stopping at the botanical gardens,!!!
In India, Karnataka, Kerala, Goa, juice is extracted from the stem of the flower bunch early in the morning, and sold as Toddy, which is sweet to drink makes you little tipsy, and as the sun rises it gets fermented, that is used rise the batter of apam, sannas, etc which we cook for breakfast.
